The sun was shining; the birds were singing. A recent rain had encouraged the trees to sprout new leaves and the grass to shoot up new roots. Everything was green, except those few items whose natural color leaned more towards an earthen tone or the vibrant blue hue of sky and water.
A good day to explore.
Shinyun smiled, perfectly content. She trotted forwards at a brisk place, clearing the fallen logs and tangled shrubbery with ease. Her miniature wings spread every now and again as she fought to regain her balance from a particularly high and showy jump.
A line of ants made their way across the forest floor before her, slowly but surely bringing their bounty home.
The filly's crimson eyes widened in delight as she darted forwards, thrusting her nose forwards so that she was near eye-level with the minuscule creatures.
"Where are you going today, Aunt?" She had not yet learned the difference between Aunt and Ant; she thought that, since Aunty Scarlet was small and the little black thingys called Ants were small, Aunt simply referred to one's size. "Off to bring..." she squinted, trying to discern whether the line of Aunts were carrying bits of leaves or twigs. "... that to Mama?" Her innocent question about the holes in the ground that Aunt seemed so fond of had lead to the slightly condescending speech about how they brought offerings to the Queen, who was like Mama because she commanded everyone else.
Shinyun pouted slightly, disgruntled at Aunt's lack of response. One day, she would receive a reply!
She trotted off with a chipper goodbye, off to find new adventures.
... One day, she'd have the patience to wait around long enough to discover that 'Aunt' could not reply even if it had wanted to.

 ((Sorry I don't have a foal image; you get the gist, though XD)) Color, color, everywhere! It was so beautiful, so exciting, so very fresh and pretty! After seeing nothing but white white snow for so long, Guirien was thrilled to see what the world had to offer when the warm came back; winter had its fun moments, but it was for the most part far too cold and wet. If he was going to be wet, he wanted it to be warm and bright out so that he could enjoy it, thanks much! Besides, it was impossible to play hide and seek in the snow when you were bright magenta, which left both Guirien and his brother Amrien in a difficult place. Adagio, with his gray coat, had it MUCH easier!
Not that Guirien really blended in with the greens and pastels of springs; with his vibrant pinks and purples, he stuck out like a sore thumb. But one only had to glance at the foal to see that he couldn't care less; from his dancing hooves to his bright eyes to his wide, grinning face he was the ultimate picture of youthful happiness.
And why not? It was COLORFUL, and it was there for him to explore! It was a bummer that he hadn't been able to get one or both of his brothers to accompany him, but oh well. Adagio tended to like pouting by himself, and Amrien was...well, he was just off somewhere. Guirien wasn't entirely sure if he'd gone off with Mama, was playing with new friends, or doing some exploring of his own, or was just off; he'd hear about it later, he was sure!
But in the meantime, he was making the most of it. Capering along, Guirien flitted from one new plant to another twining vine, exclaiming with excitement at each successive sight. Occasionally, he let out an excited, "COOL!", but that was about it.
So far, anyway.
