(( Sorry about the not-so-good title. My brain is a little fried. ^^; )) The forest of Di'jai was peaceful and quiet. It was a serene afternoon, with birds chirping in the treetops, sunlight filtering down through the dense canopy, little forest animals going about their daily business, and a mad chipmunk dashing through the undergrowth. Wait - what?
A tiny brown chipmunk whizzed through the forest, weaving around tree roots and rocks while a strange pink and blue spotted adult dragonfly chased it wildly. The dragonfly was female, if her horns and tail were any indication. She raced after the rodent, expertly weaving around trees while her blue eyes remained locked on her target.

Violetta was walking down a deer path through the forest, admiring the flowers and birds as she walked. They were starting to open again and they were looking really pretty this season. She smiled happily then took off running. Running just cause she could. Through the grass and over the fallen logs and rocks. through the bushes, for no purpose at all. She ran around a fallen tree and through some bushes and heard something else running though them...she wondered why someone else would run when a chipmunk ran past her. She stopped and watched it go as another female came though and Violetta just had time to jump back with a yelp to keep from being run over by her.

Her tongue was lolling; her body was panting, but the pink and blue female didn't give up the chase. Suddenly, out of her peripheral vision, she saw a flash of deep purple. The purple thing yelped as it got out of her path and she felt a bit sorry. She tossed her head over her shoulder and called, "Sorry about that!" She turned her head back to her chase just a second too late. The chipmunk had slipped into the roots of a kapok tree and the spotted female crashed into it with alarming force. After what seemed like an eternity of sharp pain and dancing stars, she shakily stood up.

Violetta turned and saw the female headed for a tree "Watch ou-" she started to say when she hit the tree. She winced a little and ran over. "Oh my are you ok?" she asked as she stood next to the pink and purple female. There was a sweet scent in the air around this female that Vi couldn't quite place. She looked at the female visually checking that nothing seemed to be wrong on her. She thought she might be in a little bit of pain but nothing obviously seemed wrong with her so Violetta just stood there in case she was in pain.

The pink and blue female blinked and looked at the purple one she had passed earlier. She could now see that it was a female dragonfly, just like her. She was a deep purple color with a blue mane and yellow swirling patterns. The spotted one suddenly realized that she was staring and burst out laughing. "Oh yeah yeah - I'm fine!" she said brightly, looking up at the kapok. "I'm usually good enough to not hit trees, but it happens sometimes." She turned back to the purple one and grinned foolishly.

Vi looked at her and nodded. She seemed as ok as she said she was. She smiled a little and looked at the tree. "Well thats a hard tree to run into so i'm glad your ok. My name is Violetta, but everyone calls me Vi. Whats your name? And would you like some berries, theres some over here that i was munching on that you can have." she said with a smile as she turned towards the berries.

The pink and blue dragonfly nodded happily. So this pretty purple one was called Violetta? It suited her, the spotted one thought. She gave a quick, informal bow and chirped, "Nice to meet 'cha, Vi! My name's Wataame!" She smiled brightly and added, "And I'd love some berries! Chasing chipmunks can really work up an appetite, y'know." She eagerly turned to follow Vi.

Vi headed back towards the berries she had been munching on. "So where did you come from? Far away or do you live kinda close by?" she asked with a smile as she looked back at Wataame over her shoulder. The smell around the female was really sweet, but nice. She swished her tail about as she walked with a smile. It was a pretty day and this female seemed nice, Vi liked meeting new people.

Wataame smiled as she happily walked behind her new violet friend, a bounce in her step. Making friends was always fun for her, she thought. Vi then spoke and Wataame took a second to best formulate her answer. "Well, I don't really live anywhere," she said cheerily. "I spent most of my puphood with Ber and so when I got old enough to travel, I decided that I wasn't ever going to live in the same place ever again. So now I roam, never sleeping in the same place twice." She grinned and asked, "What about you?"

Vi thought about it. "I've kinda been in this area for a while now. I've traveled through the forest a long ways but i've stayed in the same Den for a long time. I like the area." she said with a smile. "Though i love to visit different area's of the forest for small amounts of time." she said as she found the berries. There was a large Blackberry bush with a few smaller blueberry bushes under it. "Here they are." she said with a smile.

Wataame gave a grin at Vi's words, totally understanding her point of view. "I get you," she said before seeing the berries and yelling, "Berries! Whoo-hoo!" She practically dove into the bush and popped out in a breath, her face covered in berry juice. "I love blackberries," she said happily, "But why are they called blackberries? They're not really black. They're more of a dark purple." She wiped her face with a paw as she stared at a blackberry hanging on the bush, as if willing it to tell her its reason.

"Careful of the thorns! And Mmmm Maybe when they named them they didn't think 'dark purple berries' would sound good so they went with the color that was closest to it." She said with a shrug as she are a few more berries her self and then pointed at Wataame's face. "Missed a spot." she said with a giggle as she saw a streak of purple spread on the side of her mouth.

"Thorns?" she repeated in puzzlement before climbing all the way out of the bush. He tail's fur was all knotted from the bush's defense. She gave a sigh and raked her nails through it, removing most of the thorns quickly. She then looked back at Vi, blushed slightly, wiped her face, and said, "Yeah. I guess 'darkpurpleberries' does sound kind of stupid .... and long." She ate a few more berries, carefully this time, and then asked, "So what makes you stay here, Vi? What got you to quit travelin'?"

Vi thought about the question she asked and sat down as she chewed a mouth full of berries. "Oh well i guess its cause i just fell in love with the area and i don't want to move from here any more. Though i think if i ever met someone i wanted to move for i would." she said as she thought about it. She didn't know very many other's but she was hoping to fall in love soon. She had always wanted a family.

Vi's response made Wataame stop for a moment. She'd pretty much always traveled and she couldn't really imagine stopping just for the sake of one person. But then again, that was love, wasn't it? Wasn't it that love made you do things to make the other person happy or something? Maybe she wanted to fall in love too. Maybe love would be enough to calm her restless feet. Maybe.
Wataame gave a nod and finally said, "Yeah. I think I get what your sayin'. I mean, I might even stop travelin' for that special someone, y'know? Isn't that love?"
She seemed thoughtful for a moment and then blushed lightly. She was discussing love with an almost complete stranger! She could only imagine what Vi thought of her! Talks of love and such were better suited to people who'd actually been in love.
