Confused? Not to worry. Simply post here with a concept of what kind of character you see yoursefl playing, and we'll help you with the nitty gritty of mechanics,
A guide for making cool and powerful characters will be added here eventually.

So, I've sort of been thinking of using the Gestalt A/B distinction as a factor in the character development. I was thinking that in the backstory he was advancing as one class (rogue or similar) until a certain event "changed his life forever" (General idea, awe-inspiring encounter with a dragon whose stuff he was trying to lift.) Then he sort of "reforms" and advances in "side B" as a Dragon Shaman.
But again, I'm still a little hazy on the rules, whether or not this would be an advantageous combination, what other characters are thinking of as far as filling in general roles in a group, etc.
But hey, someone's got to make the first post. razz And I think the idea is cool. Dragon would probably have been good aligned to "let him off with a warning" etc. but he was still heavily impressed enough with the gravity of the situation and the sheer power outclassing him.

There is actually specific plot that explains why the dual advancement happens. It happens after the first encounter (in which you only have side A) You pick up side B after. And character concept >>> class. The fluff for classes is HIGHLY mutable.

Dragon shaman is a weird class. It combines auras similar to what a marshal has with some other effects and can tank reasonably very well. I'm not too experienced with it. It is something of a support class though, you don't get much Damage dealing. It's worth taking maybe 1-6 levels in. 1 gets you Vigor (which means the party's healing costs are cut), 4 gets you a breath weapon (always fun), and 6 gets you another nifty healing ability, which you can then boost with high CHA and Azure touch. I can see it Synergizing quite well with an Incarnum class, and I might make "touch of vitality" available at lower level to offset it;s relative weakness vis a vis DragonFire Adept.
If you want to be a reformed scoundrel type who is now into dragons that can certainly be done. DFA and Totemist may work as well as dragon shaman. It depends on what kinds of abilities you want.
