Arrikanez milled around disconsolately on one of the large platforms littering the gardens of Kimagaa. He didn't feel well - still - and Eriot had been on his case about matters of the godly persuasion. He didn't want, nor need, to deal with things as devastating as the loss of Faith of certain temples, or the attacks on the realm. Right now, he had more important things to deal with. Like being pregnant. Twice, apparently. If the dream he had last night was anything to go by, he was also being 'fitted' for a child from the collar that had suddenly grown around his neck. Not that he minded that one. It was more the bread in the oven that he was concerned about. He knew Tamari had knocked him up. He'd lost his virginity to the God of Destiny. And that was a bit... well, scary. He didn't know WHAT was growing in his womb. Just that it hurt, and it was making him sick and tired. Feverish, too. But he was prepared to bring BOTH children into the world in any way possible. And he was planning on raising them, too. Even if it killed him. Which it very well might.
Wandering about like this, it wasn't unusual to run into another god or two doing the same thing. He turned at his name, and his eyes locked onto the closed ones of the childlike god of Dreams - Demain. The boy moved over to Chaos god, sat, and simply folding his hands in his lap as he smiled at nothing.
"You are with child, yes?" he said, his innocent voice a sweet lie to his true nature.
Arri nodded, and wrapped his arms around himself, looking away from the creepy child. His hand crept lower, rested over his abdomen. He felt the already quickly-growing child in his womb kicking, sighed, and looked down.
"I am." he said quietly. "By Tamari. And I swear to myself, if you so much as har-"
"That's not what I meant." Demain interrupted. "I meant in that... curious item at your throat. A child is growing there, as well."
Chaos nodded, and reached up to feel that item as well, mind traveling back to the not-so-distant future, where a purple woman had given him this thing and told him it would become a child. He smiled a bit at the idea of having two little boys to look after. Because he was pretty sure that Tamari's child was also a male. He turned to Demain again.
"Why are you interested?" his tone became slightly accusatory. "What are your plans, Demain?"
The child laughed, deceiving the mind into thinking he meant no harm. "Plans? Whatever makes you think I have plans, dear Arrikanez?" he asked, flashing a smile. He never opened his eyes. If he did... the world would end.
Arri grimaced at his tone. The 'cute' voice generally meant that Demain was angry. Or he was lying. Or both.
"Sorry - It's just that... you never showed interest in the others... when they had children on the way."
Demain shrugged, and rose, leaning against one of the old, falling-down pillars on the dias. Another grin graced his lips, and the tiny wings he possessed flapped once or twice.
"I have always been interested in you, Arri my dear. Always. It was, after all, my plot that dragged you into godhood in the first place."
THAT, Arri hadn't known. He looked up to question the other god, and Demain simply put a finger to his lips. Arrikanez shushed. He knew better than to argue.
"So... you're not planning on taking my children?" he asked, changing the subject. His tone was fairly hopeful, but he dreaded the answer. And was right to.
"I never said that, sweet Chaos." the child-god quietly responded. "But know that, if I do take them... They would not be harmed. Only guided."
"That's what I'm afraid of..." Arri muttered, trying to look away from the child. He grew bolder, however. "When are you planning on renewing your temple in the North?"
It was a complete change of subject, and Demain knew it. Arri watched his expression sour, and his eyebrows draw down. He'd made Dream angry. But when it came to his children, they were more important than he'd EVER be. And Demain had just pretty much threatened his unborn children. Even as Arri watched, the sour expression became one of... the only word that came to mind was PLOTTING. Never a thing you wanted to see on the face of a child that could destroy everything in existence, simply by opening his eyes.
"I see I am making you uncomfortable." he said quietly, not answering the question. "I will depart. But remember, Arri my love..." he moved closer, and leaned up to whisper into Chaos' ear. "Even without sight, Dreams can see you. Nightmares come to play, I'll never fear you."
With that, the god of Dreams vanished, leaving a cold chill running down Arri's spine. That was as much of a warning as the Chaos god would ever get from the child-god, and it scared him. With reason. As if he needed another thing to be paranoid and upset over. He already wasn't feeling well, and this just compounded it.
After he was sure that the other god had left completely, he made his way over to the statue of Eriot on the dais. It was a little undignified, but he curled in the marble god's lap, and rested his head against the cold knee. It was a moment before everything sank in - and when it did, he had no reaction but to simply seek comfort in lifeless stone - and cry.
