The day was cool and windy. Winter was making way for spring. Damp, fresh smelling air whirled around the female cattaur's head as she sat silently watching the sun rise on the horizon. She was taking the silent morning hours to think to herself. She was new to this area of the isles and wanted to explore, but something was keeping her stationary. Actually, it was someone. Ashierra wasn't one to usually let herself get off-track and distracted, but ever since she had met Alek... She dropped her face into her hands and sighed. She wasn't herself whenever the firey male was around. She was a stable minded taur! Disciplined and well spoken! Fight training had taught her this. Sure, she had a bite of sarcasm, but she thought to herself that it was only used in self-defense. Yet, he made her cross multiple boundaries with just one look. One hot touch... He tail twitched as the sun rose slowly, reflecting with a warm brightness off the water. She needed to continue her studies...

Lightening flashed violently in Alek's memories as a grand fire threatened to swallow another figure. Pain blazed from stinging cuts along his body as he moved taking in the fire while pushing the other to safety. Tail twitching the fiery cattaur mumbled in his sleep before rolling over and onto a sharp rock. "Aiii!" For once he instantly awoke for the small throb of pain had taken him by complete surprise.
Rubbing at his eyes, Alek sighed as he realized that it was only the warmth of the rising sun that he felt. 'Horrible nightmare.' He thought pushing it to the farthest corner of his mind before heading out of the small hollow of cave that he had taken as a shelter last night against the chilled rain.
Opening a small pouch left by the cave, Alek pulled out the hindlegs of a rabbit. "Should have been given the power of earth instead." He muttered running a blazing hand over the remains of last night's supper. It flared and when the last sparks of fire left his hands, Alek bit down hard and chewed the tough meat. A deep laugh of a purr rumbled in his throat when he swallowed. "Though then I couldn't have instant meals anymore..." Not only that he remembered that little fiery sprite of a cattaur he had met recently and a pleased smile overtook any current sorrow about being stuck with fire magic.
"Ah yes." Attempting to untangle his hair with his hands, Alek headed down towards where he had seen water last night. Though he hated the stuff for it's wetness and the chill it had, Alek realized that traveling along the water's edge was good.
And traveling was what he was going to do after all. There was no reason for him to stick around for much longer and he needed to see more of the area. 'I can always back track and drive him crazy later.' Thought Alek with a smirk before pausing in his tracks. Though a foxtaur had been his reason for traveling so far off course, Alek had found so many forms of amusement here...involving that fire sprite.
"Eh..." Alek sighed and cast one last look back towards the cave and forest before taking a step forward. No female would tie him down to one place and if they never met again then that's how fate had decided. Though he did walk slower than usual as he headed out. "Hmm?" Something caught his gaze and suddenly a bright smile lit his face, but surely not? "Oh yes..." A glint of something flickered in his eyes as he looked down at Ashierra.
But the mischievous cattaur paused at the bit of her expression that he could see from the side. 'What could she be thinking about this early in the morning with that look on her face?' He pondered absolutely dumbstruck. Yet, that wouldn't stop him from approaching and breaking her silence. Quietly padding over, Alek made sure to breath down her neck before playfully asking, "Whatcha doin'?"

Ashierra was lost in the depths of her mind still when the wind's cool breath turned warm on her neck and spoke. Startled out of her revere, she spun around instantly up on her paws, hands reaching up in self defense. "Alek!" She cried, halting her fist an inch from the male's face. A hot blush crept up her cheeks as she relaxed slightly, letting her fists fall. It didn't help that most of the embarassment she felt came from knowing she had just been thinking deeply about him. "Don't sneak up on me like that you brat!" She brushed the hair from her face and shook her head. "I was watching the sunrise." She said softly, biting gently onto her tongue. Her blood pounded in her ears from the adrenaline rush, and from the attraction. She took a deep breath and relaxed her arms, thinking back to her training. "What are you way out here for?"

Though warmly laughing at Ashierra's reaction to his appearance, Alek took a small step back. 'This little sprite has some good reflexes.' he noted with even more amusement. 'That would really come in handy if she was....' Pausing Alek shook his head before smirking at Ashierra with a humored purr.
"Wait what?" Pouted Alek as his tail flicked behind him a tad bit hurt, "Brat?" Playfully he sighed and lowered his gaze, "That hurts, Ashierra." But he instantly perked up at the mention of her watching the sunrise. Though he had missed most of it, Alek could make out the faint trails of fiery colors that the sun's appearance had marked in the sky.
He smiled then directing the full force of it at her, "I thought watching sunrises was supposed to be a romantic thing not something you do alone." He shook his head teasingly while trying to hide the fact that he was ignoring her last question, "Such a pity that no one seemed to tell you that."
A pause and he looked back towards the water and at the fiery streaks of color in the sky which set his blood boiling. 'Such a pity that I'm leaving here.' He thought with a small sigh before forcing another smirk on his face.

Ashierra took a small pleasure in Alek's step back. 'At least I still got it.' She thought to herself. Leaving home hadn't made her soft after all. She snorted and smirked. "Well, didn't think anything could hurt you, big strong guy that you are." Immediatly, she regretted her words. All it did was highlight in her mind that he was indeed a strong male, and his words of romance nearly sent a shiver up her spine, his body becoming the form in her mind who should have sat next to her in the morning. But she shook her head. "Romance... why start when they only get taken away from you one way or another." Mentally smacking herself, she turned and faced the warm sun. "I asked you a question. I answered yours. Least you could do is answer mine."

Blinking Alek chuckled, "You're right." An amused glint flickered in his warm eyes at being called 'a big strong guy' by Ashierra. Hearing her words about romance made him shake his head as if he pitied her. "Such a shame." He purred and stretched lazily before finishing, "I mean you should enjoy things while they're there. Nothing to be taken so seriously, romance is."
Faking pure innocence, Alek tilted his head confused and just looked at Ashierra. "Now, Ashyra, I don't have any idea to what you mean with that." He replied playfully as he purposely pronounced her name differently.

She sighed and sat down, still facing away, legs curled comfotably against her body. 'But when it's not there anymore, what is left behind is empty.' She thought sadly to herself. 'The more you enjoy it, the bigger the hole left.' She flicked her ears and rolled her eyes. "Right. You don't know what I'm talking about, and I'm really a stinky wolftaur disguised as a cattaur." She leaned on her arm to look back at him. "It's a simple question. What brings you way out here?"

Curiosity tugged on him about Ashierra's sudden silence, yet he knew not to pry. Forcing a gasp at Ashierra's sarcastic comment Alek leaned in with a purr, "I knew it!" He cried with a wide grin, "Ashy really is a wolfie!"
But his face suddenly became quite serious as she asked her question again and he shrugged. "I came out here for my own reasons, Ashierra." He crossed his arms and looked towards the body of water that seemingly stretched on endlessly. A dark look flashed over his features and he shook his head, forcing a small smile. "Does it really matter why I'm out here?"

Ashierra smacked her palm to her forehead. "Must you call me Ashy?" She groaned. Her head came back up slowly as Alek's tone changed. Considering that she hadn't known him long yet, she felt that it was odd... Her eyes narrowed slightly. "I guess not... If you don't feel like smiling, don't bother forcing it. Never helps anything." She said bluntly, turning her face back to the water, wondering what was behind that male's forced smile.

"Until I think of a cuter nickname for you." Replied Alek with a light laugh. Blinking at her response the fire cattaur chuckled darkly, "Oh I don't know, it seems that smiling can ease others at times." He shrugged and gave her a casual grin. "Let me guess, you're not one of those others must be happy types?"
A light breeze wafted around them and lifted his bangs teasing his hair allowing it to stick up a bit. Alek sighed and ran a hand through his hair, "Crazy wind..." His eyes lit up as he suddenly laughed. "Ah, well seems like I can't loiter about any longer." Padding over behind Ashierra he lightly kissed the top of her head, "Bye-bye, fire sprite."

"Life's purpose is to make things easier for oneself. They don't care about my happiness to get what they want, why should I care about theirs." She grumped. Her ears twitched in suprise when he kissed her head. "Bye?" She looked up with wide eyes, her grudge forgotten. "Where are you going?"

Ah, sounded like she'd been hurt in the past. "Oh really?" Alek muttered before turning to look back at Ashierra. Something about her tone concerning him leaving made him pause, "Away." He replied softly before chuckling. "What did you expect me to stay in one place for so long, fire sprite?"
Another shake of the head, "You really have a lot to learn still then." Alek teased again before turning back, "Well are you ready?" He asked glancing at Ashierra from the corner of his eyes.

Ashierra stared a bit before shrugging slightly. She had kinda hoped... Another mental smack brought her mind forward again. "I expect you to be your enigmatic and loud self. It just happened suddenly is all." She said with a snort to cover her disappointment. She blinked quickly and frowned. 'Ready? For what? Could he mean-?' "Well, I was going to wash my hair today, but I suppose that could wait a bit." She said haughtily, fluffing her hair with one hand as she stood. With her free hand, she playfully smacked Alek's flank. "The real question is, are you?"

"Oh jeez, thanks. I just love how you describe me, Ashy." Retorted Alek with a laugh. Smirking the cattaur flicked his tail at Ashierra in response to the smack. "I don't know..." He began sounding sincere until he cast a playful smirk her way.
"I mean I've never had to put up with a female tagging along. I know that you delicate flowers are so ever troublesome on dangerous journeys into the unknown. " Alek raised an eyebrow at her and shook his head, "But if you insist, just don't' faint die, or die on me, kay?" He laughed lightly and winked before he started to walk on the warm sand and away from her.

"You love it because deep down you know I'm right." She said with a laugh. Then she glared at him through smiling eyes. "I'll try not to get in your way. Just remember, you're awefully big for a delicate flower to drag along. No fainting or dieing on your part either." Though she was still smirking, the light of her eyes faded slightly. 'You better not die on me... not now that I'm...' She sighed and followed after him, skipping a bit to walk beside him.
