I looked far and wide through all the other posts to see if this had come up before, and as far as I could see it hasn't, so if I'm wrong I'm very sorry and I hope I don't feel the wrath of anyone for repeating a thread...

If, however, it hasn't come up before, I'd love to talk about this amazing historical fiction series with anyone else who wants to do the same! 3nodding

Oh yay a response whee
I'm not the greatest person at writing a synopsis but I'll try sweatdrop

The series is an incredibly well-written and researched fictional history "of life on the glacial continent of the last Ice Age, when two kinds of human beings, Neanderthal and Cro-Magnon, shared the earth".
Cro-Magnon are the ancestors of people today. The novels follow a girl Ayla of the Cro-Magnon, but who was brought up with the Clan, what the Neanderthal called themselves. The two types of humans are completely different and we discover how it was 20 odd thousand years ago, from the point of view of Auel and her research. I can imagine these books probably wouldn't be for everyone, but maybe if more questions are posed I can explain properly redface Oh and the first book is called The Clan of the Cave Bear

Thanks for your interest though : )

Ah well I attempted to explain it above, I know it wasn't very extensive at all sorry >.< ... Series is based around 20000 years ago near the end of the Ice Age, and it follows the main character Ayla, of the humans that are our ancestors, and her experiences with the Neanderthal... The following books follow her journey away from them and as she searches for her own people.. If I say too much more I might reveal something important... But that's basically what it's about. Incredible historical fiction 3nodding
