In doubt, your friends are always there......Ok, I know, I know. There ARE many people who watch it.
The thing is.....
I go to this anime meet thing, and everyone there is a Naruto (gag) or DeathNote (ah, not bad) fan. Thing is, I bring up YYH, they're like, "...What?"
I sometimes feel it's not popular! It's a great show/manga! I feel like it should be given more love!
Has anyone else felt this way? Or is it just me?
Any explanations for this simple rant?
...Although they may "bite" at times.....

don't worry, I feel the same way. The thing is, Yu Yu Hakusho is a kinda old anime ('bout ten years now, ne?) As amazing as it is, the big things right now is Naruto and Death Note. Sad, yes.
I wish more people were obsessed with YYH like us. ^^;

I don't think if has a lot to do with Yu Yu Hakusho not being popular so much as it has to do with fad. Yu Yu Hakusho could be compared to Naruto and Deathnote in regards to anime being shown on TV. Yu Yu Haksho was very popular when it was first aired on TV, everyone was talking about it and there were annoying fans EVERYWHERE. Now that it has been taken off the air though, only the loyal fans remain. The same thing is going to happen to Naruto and Deathnote. My cases in point would be Gundam Wing and Inuyasha. I watched those go from all the rage to things that people say, "What?" about. Sadly it's just become an after thought to most fans, if they do remember Yu Yu Hakusho they kinda say, "That? Oh, we are so over that, it was on ages ago!" You safest bet would just be to remain a loyal fan of the show, and stick around a loyal fan base ^_^

Seriously, I only learned about YYH about...one or two years ago. I really only started watching it last year. I try to get people into it, but they don't care.
I asked these two girls, and they were like, "Oooh, I know that show!!"
And I'm like, "Thank you lord!!"
But they never really were into it. >.> Figures.

Yeah. Know what made me SUPER happy?
I was talking to one of my friends at school. And he was all like "Yeah, I was watching some of the old animes. I watched Yu Yu Hakusho yesterday."
XD It was amazing. I ranted to him 'bout my fan fic...then it wasn't amazing...because he wouldn't listen. emo

Pretty much anime loses its flair after five years or so after becoming the television show. Yu Yu Hakusho is very old, as it's been said, so it's natural that the fandom for it has dwindled. There are always loyal fans, though. ^^
In two or three years, there will be another new anime out and Naruto will be old hat.
I mean, remember Kenshin? Remember Case Closed? Remember Trigun? Enough said.

And Naruto of DeathNote? Hasn't that been out for a while, or...?
Anyway, DeathNote is good, but compared to YYH, I totally choose YYH over it. DeathNote is more for people who enjoy a thriller, and what's gonna happen next sorta thing (like me).
And awww, it's ok, havi. That same thing happened to me that day when those two girls liked it, too. ^^;

Lol. My older bro and I LOOOVE Death Note. We just like L and all the twisted characters and how the characters act off of what they think the other character will do before they even do it! XD
But YYH will live on forever in our hearts!

Yeah, it's just not a big thing anymore, because it's not the newest shiz on the tv. razz
I'd like to point out though that it's won awards. I dunno about Naruto - but I doubt it's won any such thing. ;P
And Kurama will go down in history as one of the first Bishies. Sasuke's got nothing but a big nose. wink
It may not be known by n00bs, but it's still considered one of the best animes of all times! And I much prefer us cool fans, to n00bs that don't know what's good. Actually, to be perfectly honest, I'm glad YYH died down a little with it's fandom. The yaoi is always the scariest part of a fandom to me.
And despite my liking for yaoi, and YYH being my first interaction with it - I prefer my yaoi to the attack of Kurama/Hiei fans that think Hiei likes "sweet snow". Goddamn I'm about to ramble on that so I should shush now.
Point being - it's not mainstream, most popular - but I bet you anything it's just as loved as it always was. But you gotta remember. The manga came out in 1990, and the anime in '92. It's faaaar past done.
And anyway. 'Narutards' have a name - and even fans of the show that AREN'T losers, are titled it just for liking it. Their automatically lame (no matter how fair that is) just for liking the mainstream, new stuff. BUT - we're basically cool right off the spot for saying "Hey, I like that old anime from the 90s. wink "
It's old, therefore we're basically not n00bs automatically. Don't ya love it?

It won the Shogakukan Manga Award for shōnen in 1994 The anime was voted the best anime of the year in the Animage Grand Prix in 1994 and the second best in 1993 (after Sailor Moon). Additionally, the magazine declared the series number 53 on its top 100 anime listing in 2001. In a 2006 web poll conducted in Japan by the network TV Asahi, YuYu Hakusho was voted as the 15th best anime of all time.
