Pilate lay very low, close to the ground. Her tail twitched every so often as the young cheetah cub stocked her prey. A lizard, the so called prey of the cheetah cubs, laid in a lazy sort of way on a boulder. This lizard had no idea of the impending Pilate doom that stocked it a few feet off.
The bright green cheetah cub smiled to her self as she crept closer and closer. A meal, something she had not had in a few days, and it was so easy. However, before she could even get in the pounce crouch, her tummy roared and the lizard was alerted of the lurking cubs where about. Pilate cursed and sprinted after it, but the now alert lizard evaded the cub's hungry effort by taking cover under the boulder.
Pilate sat onto of the boulder in defeat and let her head hang a little low.

She saw the cheetah with the green pelt, and cocked her head. What an odd odd creature. She had never met a cheetah before, but the oddness was in the cubs bright coat.
She had not seen the cub lose the lizard, but the cub had not seen her fail to catch a mouse she had wondered up on. So life was cruel to everyone.
She walked closer to the cub. Stepping a bit cautiously.
"Whats wrong?" She asked, her voice soft as she finally was only a few feet away.

The cheetah's ears and head popped up at the voice of another. Bright pink eyes were now fixated on a white and red lion cub. A smile spread on the defeated cheetah.
"The circle of life I suppose," She muttered, "But such is life, live another day, catch another lizard." Pilate jumped off the boulder she was sitting on and approached the cub. She seemed friendly enough considering she just asked what was wrong.
"What about you?" Pilate halted a few feet away and sat back down. " I mean ... " Laughter echoed out of her throat, " Who are you? " It had been a long, unlizard, day for the cub. Her head wasn't screwed on completely right.

She cocked her head.
She hated the flavor of lizard, she supposed that sounded spoiled, but she was almost happy for the cheetah to get to miss such a disgusting meal.
"My name is Valenera.." She smiled, bowinga bit, before walking closer to the female.
"There are other things besides lizards, ya know."
Had her momma told her lizards were her only food source? Val figured she had to have said something, becaus eotherwise the little cheetah should be disgusted..right?

"Valenera," She repeated, mainly so she would remember it. "Thats a nice name, I'm Pilate... ermm.." Pilate kneaded her paws a little into the dirt a little embarrassed that she resorted to eating lizards. At her size, and living on her own, very few things were on the menu for her. Every now and then she was able to scavenge from left overs of bigger kills left behind, but for the most part lizards tended to be on the menu.
"I'm not a great hunter yet I suppose," She smiled back at the other and looked up at the sky. Embarrassment is a powerful thing.
"So you live around here?" The cub's eyes remained staring up. Embarrassment was still fresh in her and wiggling like a worm.

"Thank you, your name is quite exotic." She said with a little smile.
Val felt bad for having embarrassed her already.. What had she said? Did it have something to do with the lizard comment? Gah, so was so bad socially, that she was always messing up.
"Im sorry, if I said anything wrong." She said softly.
"Im not a great hunter yet either." She said with a giggle and a nod. But did she live around here?
She too lived on her own.. And she normally wandered. Though she had taken to calling this place home for now.
"I guess you could say I do.."

The cubs face light up and a smile spread across her maw. Truthfully, she felt bad that she had made the other cub feel bad, so she smiled.
"Oh! No no! Your fine! I'm .. uhh.." She chuckled, "I just .. umm.." She laughed again shaking her head feeling rather silly now. "Thank you, your names pretty cool too." Was all she could really think to say.
"Heh, we are rather small," She chuckled, "I'm sure we'll get better as we grow." Pilate was trying to cheer the other up feeling guilty for the awkwardness that had ascended to them both.
"Ah, are you a traveler? Or explorer?" Pilate's voice was now a happy and warm tone. Someone new and exciting tended to make the cheetah a little.. excited. Companionship, even for a short while was a nice thing.

She smiled, flicking her tail much like the wagging of a dog. She was so happy now that she had found someone, ANYONE, just to be around.
She may have been on her own, but the boredom and lonliness killed the poor cub.
"Aw Im sure we will. We're still little yet. Though Im getting a little better.. I helped a friend catch a Rabbit the other day!" She said squealing with excitement.
"Im an explorer.. But I am a wanderer too.. Im a bit of both?" She asked, cocking her head a bit.

Pilates eyes widened til they you could see the whole pupil just about, "Really?" Even though Pilate her self was a wander, she hadn't expected this cub to also be a wander. All the other lions she had run into had some kind of family connection, or pride, they spoke of.
The surprise quickly dissolved from her face, " I'm in the same boat," The words came out very quiet and very surprised. For the first time in her short life, Pilate felt she could really connect to some one. Not that she had anything against the others with families, but, she couldn't relate.
"A whole rabbit you say?" Her tone and mood brightened a great deal, " That's quite a task! How'd you manage to trick the tricky thing?" Her head tilted and she giggled, "They sure do like to be alive and not dinner that is for sure."

Valenera almost felt like a heroine with the way Pilate complimented her. She blushed, and nodded a bit, sending her little bit of floof on the top of her head bouncing. "Yeah, I got lost as a cub.. I havent found my family." But to be honest, she wasnt really looking. She was happier on her own with a bit more freedom.
"Yeah a WHOLE Rabbit!" Said Val, with her eyes widening in disbelief as well, even if it had happened.
"I had run into another who was trying to catch the rascal, and we teamed up, and when he darted one way, " She motioned with a paw.
"I followed behind, and chased him RIGHT into her mouth." She said, using her paws to finish telling the story.
"They do. Which is unfortunate. Theyre awfully tasty."

The cub nodded in agreement, "That's for -," She stopped as her tummy roared loud and awkwardly. "Heh... guess all this talk about rabbit meats gotten me hungry. You know the area well ...... yeah? Do you want to team up and see if we can find something bigger then lizards or mice?"
Teaming up with another sounded like a great idea. That and she'd have companionship if only a little while longer. It seemed like a great idea for the two to team up. Lions had the strength and cheetahs had the speed, together they might be able to find something worth there while to take down.
"I mean if you want to of course. We lone rangers need to stick together," She laughed at her lame joke. Pilate, in all honesty, had no idea what 'ranger' meant.

Would you wanna plot? I could see Pilate as being Val's little friend. Since Vals now a teen, she could take Pilate under her wing, and they could be like sisters.]]
Valenera grinned, nodding quite exhuberantly. She was always up for a good hunt. All she had learned, she had learned from Geheim the hyena.. so she did have SOME skill, she was just too young sometimes to execute the hunt.
"Thats a good idea! I saw some birds around here." She said with a mischevious grin.
Val loved poultry. Bird was probably her favorite meat, that, besides Zebra.. But she was still so little that zebras were completely unthinkable.
"Do you like birds?" SHe asked, flicking her tail.
"Yes! We should stick together." She said with an approving nod.

^ ^ Sure I'd love to have plotage. I love the idea of two loners having there own little family x' 3
Pilate nodded, a few times the cub had gotten lucky enough to snag a bird on her own. It was a very rare thing though since birds could easily just fly away.
"Yes lets stick together," The cub felt a smile curl on her maw. She really did want to be 'settled' so to say. Wandering was not always fun when you wandered on your own.
"So where did you see these birds?" The cheetah loved to be sentimental but her tummy felt like it was about to eat it self to death. Not a pleasant feeling, but at least it was being quiet about it.

Valenera grinned. YES. So this little one liked birds. Those, the young lioness could handle.
She smiled, motioning with her head. Looking directly in front of her, their was a flock of birds that were landing in waves.
She looked at Pilate.
"Cmon! All you do, is run as fast as you can, extend your claws before you get there, and LEAP in the air." She smiled.
"May take practice, but it can be done." She started lowering herself to the ground, stalking through the tall grasses without a sound.

Pilate smiled a happy, hungry grin. Running. That was one thing she was built for.
"I'll give it a go," The cub lowered to the ground as well and followed the others lead. Why hadn't she ever thought to go about hunting for birds in that manner? It had never really dawned on her that she could, she supposed. Pilate shrugged the wandering thoughts off and focused.
There the birds where. A whole lot of them just pecking at the ground below, theirs for the taking. Her maw was wet hot with yearning to take one of those birds and shake it to death.
The cub stalked on her belly and settled her self next to Val waiting for the go signal. No need to rush ahead and mess up this tactic. Twas her first attempt after all at this new hunting style.
