Why on earth had his stupid-a** guardian decided that a MUSIC STORE would be a good place to take a DEAF CHILD. Already, Haleriun was angrier than he usually was, his rusty-lilac eyes glaring at the ground in the hopes that it would suddenly explode beneath his guardian's feet. As the man inspected a few different cds, Hale couldn't ignore the calling for what he wanted to do. Lifting up a rather well-packed cd- full of things that people didn't need -he threw it at Noah. One of the sides managed to hit him in the back, causing the man to jump slightly, and turn-
Only to find an empty space. Hale had already left to inspect the other strange parts of the store, unable to find amusement in any one thing for any more than a moment.

Cael gave a small sigh. His guardian knew that he didn't want to go out much... that's when he heard a loud crash. Completely leaving Lanora, he went running towards the source of the sound. He caught a flash of movement, and a very confused man. He decided to move towards the movement, curious to find out what had happened.

Hale had found his way to the little booth where they had different types of CD samples able to play through a set of headphones. He had the large headphones on, and was trying to scroll through the music. The only problem? He couldn't hear ANY of it. Because he'd never liked it in the first place, his implant was currently tied carelessly around the white waistband of the magenta dress he was wearing. That was another irritating fact about his guardian; the man didn't bother to get him clothing that would fit his strange body and was still boyish- he just had to wear his OLDER SISTER'S old clothing. Stupid, stupid Noah and his stupid... hair.
The little boy growled angrily at the machine, pounding on the volume button until it was at full blast, and everyone around him could probably hear it with full clarity. Finally, someone came up to him and gently pulled the headphones off, turning the volume down, and blabbering whatever nonsense he felt needed to be said. Hale glared daggers in a way that shouldn't be possible for a toddler, and jabbed a long, thin finger at the machine, tail-tip twitching angrily. "DUNNIT 'OIRK!!" he yelled angrily, though didn't really mean to be that loud, before turning tail -literally- and slithering back across the floor, first thought to leave the building. Until he ran into another boy his age, eyes widening just a bit, before he waved cautiously.

Cael looked even more confused. The boy in front of him seemed very angry. At least... Cael thought it was a boy.. Had he done something to make him mad? He waved, and opened his mouth a bit to say something. His voice didn't always work. He felt a little frustrated, and gave a small smile instead of a friendly hi like he had planned.

The scales across the smaller snake boy's face ruffled slightly, the skin below earning a deep red tone, and he glanced away for a moment, the ground being much more interesting to him than the other. Well- I mean- not like that! He felt his face turn an even darker shade, and his gold-lilac eyes glanced up slowly and cautiously, his furred tail-tip flicking back and forth.
"'Eyo," he said in a quiet greeting, not wanting to look at the boy, but not breaking eye contact; his ASL teacher had told him not to do that, that it was considered 'rude' in the eyes of deaf people. That was stupid. He didn't think it was rude at all... "Zorry da'I wus yullin th' mussc wa'nt werking s'told the guy think's t'lad," he stated -or, tried to- his words mushed together, sounding rather awkward and out of place as he kept his head down, looking at the other through long bangs.

Cael reached out and patted the other child on the shoulder, to let him know it was ok. He wasn't sure how to introduce himself if he couldn't talk, so Cael reached for his hand. "HI" he traced his fingers in big letters, hoping the snake boy would know what it meant.

The contact was not surprising, though Hale was glad that it wasn't forceful or painful at all. He blinked a few times, before the ghost of a smile crossed his face, and he signed 'h-i' back toward the boy, saluting the sign for hello with a weak smile. He still didn't know much in the ways of sign language, and he doubted this boy would either, but it was at least worth a shot.

Cael took the sign as a greeting. He had no idea about any of sign-language as he had never been taught it before. Cael smiled a little back when the boy smiled. He attempted to spell out C-A-E-L and pointed to himself. Then he motioned to the boy, trying to ask him his name. He was silently frustrated with himself for not being able to talk, but.. something seemed.. off with the way the boy talked.

Hale blinked a couple times, before giving a soft smile, the furred tip of his tail flicking to either side happily, despite the fact that neither of them could communicate properly, which was rather obnoxious. "Mmm... m-aaai nay-em is 'Ay-el-er-ee-en," he stated as best he could, slithering forward to take Cael's hand, spelling out 'H-a-l-e-r-i-u-n' on his palm as best as he was able to, before smiling toward the winged boy.
Recalling his ASL teacher's instructions to fingerspell as little as possible, he let the other's hand fall, and thought a moment. First, he pointed to himself, then covered his ears. Reiterating, he made a sort-of explosion-type noise, splaying his fingers near his ears, as though trying to tell that his hearing was completely shot.

Haleriun. That was the boy's name. Cael watched his motions, trying to figure out exactly what they meant. Cael nodded in understanding. Haleriun couldn't hear. Cael pointed to himself then put his hand on his own throat, trying to remember how to motion that he couldn't talk well.

Hale chuckled a bit, smiling sympathetically and shrugging a bit, before gesturing the sign for 'me, too'. He thought for a moment, looking toward the stacks of dvds and sighing at how difficult conversation was going to be with this boy. He tapped the end of his tail against the ground, before gesturing along the line of discs and then pointing toward the other male, ears tipping back a bit. He wanted to know what kind of music appealed to the other, but he doubted the point was coming across properly.

Cael was frustrated. He watched the boy motion, guessing that it meant music. He pointed to a sign that said rock on it. Then Cael pointed to Hale, turning his head to one side in questioning. He opened his mouth, trying to get his voice to come out in one way or another, hoping the boy would be able to hear him at least a little if it ever worked again.

Haleriun nodded in understanding when the other male pointed to the sign for Rock music, looking around at all the colourful things, unable to keep his complete focus on Cael, though he knew that his ASL teacher would probably have lectured him for how rude it was for him to not be looking at the other. Well, how could he help it?! Everything else was more interesting that conversation, especially to him, and especially right now.
When he was pointed to, the Snake-Ferret winced rather harshly, before giving a slow, gentle shrug, looking off to the side. This time, he just replied with the sign for deaf, finally looking back to the other with a sigh. He couldn't hear music; he never understood why Noah had brought him here. It drove him nuts every time, but he ended up buying things anyway, because there was nothing better for him to do in the end...

Cael thought for a minute, then pointed at the door. Could the boy sneak out with him? He tried to send the message that he wanted to go with Hale if he could go elsewhere. Cael smiled, motioning to the door again, not sure where they would go if they did happen to make it outside.

Hale blinked his lilac-gold eyes for a moment, looking from Cael to the door, before a grin spread across his face and he nodded excitedly. Not even waiting for a response, he grabbed the wrist of the other Eilian, slipping quietly through the isle they were in, glancing either direction warily. There was no longer anything in the way between them and the door, but he had to make sure that no one would see them.
Finally, once his own guardian had turned the corner, he pulled the other boy through the door quickly and quietly, trembling at the cold against his poorly-built scales, wrapping his arms around his shoulders and looking around, before giving a smile toward the other. 'Where?' he signed curiously; honestly, he was good with going just about anywhere at this point.
