"Yes, here is a place I can continue my fight." Nudging the steel grate closed behind her, she gripped the naginata and settled into an offensive stance. "Prepare yourself, pink one".

Recognition flashes over the old crow's eyes as the owner of the voice appears. The steely stance of the poe before her thrilled her, oh how she wanted to tear it down! The crow rests her weight on her haunches, a wicked sneer her only response to her opponents threats.

Her opponent was silent, somewhat a relief after living in the silence of the graveyard for so long. The pink creature settled into a heavy stance, pulling the weight low. Easy to break. Nodding shortly, she smiled. "My name is Nagi." No need for more than the most basic of formalities. Twisting her grip, she leveled the naginata and lunged sharply at her opponent's center.

Melis lurched to the right as the blade dove for her gut; a narrow miss but a miss all the same. She crept along the dungeon wall with gusto, the adrenaline from that near hit gave her the most incredible kick. She needed more.

So the Nagi relies on weapons, aye? There is only so much one can do with a stick!

As the last word left her mouth the crows lip curled back, her hands thrust forward. A dense sphere of flame emerged from her palms, driven towards the poe with intense desire.

I will see you break!

The lunge was a poor one; it missed. Withdrawing into a defensive stance, Nagi watched in slight frustration as her opponent danced across the walls, and took some satisfaction that neon pink was hard to lose in the shadows.

Stick?! The barb threw her focus for a moment, and she grit her teeth against a retort. There would be time for that when she was on the offensive. A raging pink ball of flame was suddenly hurtling toward her head and she cursed her lack of discipline. Swinging the naginata up, fragmenting the ball along the length of the pole. She winced in pain and twisted her unprotected face away from the licks of fire that seared along her arms. Snapping the naginata away, she dispelled the last of the flame.

"Break? Little fires are not worth my time!" At the last word she drive forward, snapping the naginata three times, once to each of her opponent's legs and once at her core. One of them just had to hit.

As the flames hit Melis fell back to all fours, continuing her pace in the shade. She was well aware her hue did not mix with shadow; obscurement is rarely a possibility when your camo is better suited for blossom fields. She did not seek the dark for concealment but for the simple reason that the crow could see better in the murky light. The poe voiced her annoyance and for a moment Melis felt Sand stir. She grit her teeth and held the young one back. The battleground was no place for children.

It seemed like she had paused only an instant, yet before she could gather herself the poe was already within striking distance. Her blade, still clean, jabbed towards her; the old one felt a pull and found herself behind the Nagi. Materialize, she acknowledged the act with a nod. This was the skill she found hardest to control, and rarely did it correspond with her wishes. Ah well, it had worked in her favor this time.

Flame has driven empires to their knees! You, wee one, will not give me half the trouble!

Melis drew a clawed hand back and lashed out, willing herself to strike true.

Listen! The dungeon has awakened!

Blitz Description
Without warning, cloudy tendrils of mist discreetly unfurl from the bottom edges of the dungeon walls. You don't notice the sudden invasion until the heavy ground mist is lapping at your ankles. A thick curtain of fog quickly slides down the walls, adding to the already rising mist from the ground. Your waist is consumed, elbows, chest, then neck, until the fog, like a gooey hand, folds and creeps over the top of your head. The mist around you swirls, alive, as if secret predators lurk beneath the muddy fog, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

Roll a [ 11, 13, 14, 17, or 20 ] and you think the shadow in front of you is your opponent, but you strike nothing but air and fog!

Her blade clanged off the stone wall and the fact that Nagi would have to sharpen her blade later was quickly overshadowed by the fact that her opponent was gone. GONE. The air shifted across her back and she threw herself to the side as she spun. A very, very near miss as pink claws swiped at air. Steadying herself, she tried to clear her mind. The adrenaline seemed to be misting her eyes, clouding her vision...

No, it appeared to be actual clouds clouding her vision. Keeping her naginata up, she watched in rising anxiety as mist poured in from the walls, making the room murkier by the moment. Was her opponent doing this? Her opponent was now almost a shadow in the mist, pink almost completely obscured. Nagi stepped up and lunged almost out of instinct, trying to catch her before she couldn't be seen at all.

Melis struck at the poe and missed, she scowled at her failure and retreated to the wall again. She paused as soft swirls of fog seemed to leak into the room from every nook and cranny, building up to an almost opaque wall of cloud. Melis cursed at the sudden change of odds, the advantage now stripped from both poe and crow. She turned in the dense fog, wondering from which direction her opponent might strike; in only seconds the tip of the poe’s naginata made a sudden appearance less than a foot away from the crow. Melis used this miss to lunge in the poe’s general direction, claws at the ready.

The shadow having been either a trick of the mist or a quick dodge by her opponent, Nagi felt herself overextended in her impatience to strike. Catching herself before she hit the ground, she forced herself to breathe normally. Her opponent couldn't hide forever. The soft brush of moving air moved against her shoulder and she dove to the right. Was it her imagination, the moving mist, or had her opponent just struck out at her? Shadows danced behind the mist, taunting. Sweeping the blade close to the ground, she slowly moved forward. Back and forth, the pole disturbed the swirling mist around her. A sudden pressure against her movement, she had touched something with the naginata. Sucking in a breath, she lunged almost desperately, before her opponent could jump away, if it was her opponent at all.

Through the fog she barreled, too much force placed behind an attack with no set target. She spun almost frantically, the mist gathering into dewdrops upon her brow. One would need a compass to navigate the dungeon in this state and without one the crow found herself utterly lost. A step forward, foot set gently against the stone floor. Somehow the fog managed to cloud her sense of smell as well as her eyesight, a crippling effect that forced her to move slower, with more care. She felt a slight bump against her hip and whipped around to meet… nothing. She took another step forward only to meet the tip of the Nagi’s blade face to face, turning away only fast enough to leave her with a slight gash to the shoulder. Without bowing to the sting of the flesh the crow thrust her palms out again, producing a single ball of flame. With a wish and a growl the flaming sphere disappeared.

Nagi felt the blade slide over something and she smirked in satisfaction. It was short lived; a mass of pink swelled in the mist and she threw herself out of the way of the incoming tackle. Sweeping her naginata across the ground, she hoped to catch her apparently desperate opponent across the calves. Confusion rose when she hit nothing but air, confusion that was quickly squashed as the pink mass turned instead into a fireball dissipating the mist in its path. She watched the fireball pass above and reflected in the heat of it as it shrank in the mist. Pushing up onto her knees, she twisted the naginata once and lunged it out, sliding one knee forward and pushing the pole ahead of her towards the source of the fire.

Veiled beneath a blanket of fog the crow checked the severity of her wound; the gash did not seem too deep and had almost stopped bleeding. Scars were common results of the battlefield and the ever existing Melisande had collected her fair share over the centuries. The pointed tip of the naginata appeared just then, missing the crow by only inches. Rather than waste more valuable time vexing over her small cut she produced another fireball and thrust it forward again, slightly to the right of the first.

Nagi did not feel any pressure against her blade this time, and pursed her lips in irritation. This fog was messing with her mind, for something so simple to be such an obstacle was turning into a severe thorn in her side. A sudden blast of fire further to her left snapped her from her thoughts and she sunk lower to the ground. Keeping to her knees, she began another slow sweep of the blade. There was every chance that the pressure she had felt was not her opponent, perhaps an upcropping of rock or a pillar, but she had no other option than to assume that her opponent was still within striking distance. As if activated by the thought, she felt a resistance to the movement of her blade and immediately struck out, lower this time. One thing the mist might give her is surprise. She wiped from her mind the thought that it also gave that particular advantage to her opponent as well.
