For those not in the know, there are currently some massive bushfires going through the southeast of Australia. I haven't been keeping up with it, but last I checked yesterday or so the death toll was over 150 and they're still finding bodies. This is a pretty disastrous event, you know...
And where there's disaster, there's always the media to grasp at crazy people who send out stupid press releases to them.
Meet the exhibit of the day: http://www.smh.com.au/national/pastors-abortion-dream-inflames-bushfire-tragedy-20090210-832f.html?page=-1
That's right. Apparently the reason we have bushfires in Victoria right now is that they recently decriminalised abortion there and God hates us for it. The extreme heatwave and scores of idiot arsonists making things worse have nothing to do with it apparently!
Read it and weep, for he is not the only person on the planet who thinks this way.

Oh yes..Because if God is going to punish us, he's going to send arsonists to do the job for him.
Suurrre.
C'mon, this isn't the first time he's supposedly set a bush on fire, he's supposed to be able to do it himself.

I remember hearing someone say (on tv) the same thing about Hurricane Katrina happening just around the time when they were going to have the biggest Gay Pride Parade ever.
And this is a yes yes YES FREAKING YES WHY DON'T PEOPLE GET THIS?? HAVE THEY NO HEART??:former Treasurer, Peter Costello "Those who have suffered deserve ever [sic] support and sympathy. It is beyond the bounds of decency to try to make moral or politcal [sic] points out of such a tragedy.'' And then more idiocy:Quote: He [the pastor] had previously said drought and the world financial crisis could be partly blamed on human sin. Of course, because human activity has NOTHING to do with drought. Or financial crisis. No, no, no, not irresponsible spending and energy usage and all that good stuff. Of course not. Let's just evade the blame and place it on a Higher Power so we're not in control of it getting fixed and thusss we can continue with our idiocy! Hooray!

I mean God is making appearances on grilled cheese and having arsonists set his fires for him? What happened?

Is it the Fred Phelps/Westboro Baptist Church of Australia?
YOUR DIRTY SEX MAKES GOD SEND HURRICANES!
Sorry, I just HAD to say that. Little bill O'Reilly cracks me up (for those who don't know, the Lil' O'Reilly Factor is a skit on a talkshow).

Well, we have a Family First Party (ie the Christian Extreme Right Do-As-We-Say-You-Should Party) which is renowned for trying to push Christianity in every bit of legislation they bring up or vote for, and being quite vocal in any morals-related news article. This guy is from a group I've never heard of before.

In other news, 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina were God punishing Americans for our acceptance of abortion, homosexuality, divorce, feminism, paganism, and atheism.
Religious nuts refuse to believe that sometimes bad s**t just happens because THAT'S THE WAY THE UNIVERSE WORKS. stressed
I wonder what those folks down in India or whereever did to deserve that big-a** tsunami a few years ago? God must have been really pissed at them.

Nayva I remember hearing someone say (on tv) the same thing about Hurricane Katrina happening just around the time when they were going to have the biggest Gay Pride Parade ever.Yes. I also remember someone saying that the area the event took place in was one of the least-damaged parts of the city, but I dunno if that's true. I do, however, know that the following comparison I saw someone make once is true. Bible Belt Map: Tornado Alley Maps: (To be fair though, this map shows the area typically known as Tornado Alley.) California has some bad Earthquakes once in a while, but these guys get tornadoes and hurricanes all the time. If God hates anybody it's probably them. =P
