Wakang'aa blinked, her dark grey eyes shining prettily in the sunlight. She found it odd that her coat seemed to sparkle dimly in the sunlight while it shone like a star (what a coincidence) in the night. Then again, it wasn't particularly odd, since her coat was an imitation of the night sky she often watched. She liked to think that if she stood just so, she became a part of the sky and had a place in the world.
Then again, her brother made her feel like she had a place on this world, so it was alright.
Speaking of which...
Her eyes flitted around in search of said boy, her red-brown counterpart, and grinned when she spotted him.

Nyotamkia grinned at his sister, padding up to her merrily, tail wagging behind him. His sister was prettier than him, in his opinion - whilst both of them shone at night, coats standing out like stars, Waka looked much more light a night sky with the gray coat under the sparkles. His reddy-brown coat didn't look as much like the night sky as hers. She would be pretty when he grew up.
A purring-like sound grumbled up the puppy's throat as he paused in front of his sister, moving her head forwards and extending his neck to touch noses with her in a sign of affection. They had lots of little signs that didn't involve speech - it was easier and more special that way, especially for Waka. From there he moved his head to under her chin, rubbing the top of his head on the underside of her jaw, ears tickling her throat slightly before he rose his head again, a wide grin now on his face. He did love his sister - although looking after her was tiresome, he was the only one that could. Thirteen puppies in total meant their parents were too busy to look after Waka all the time, so the duty fell to him. He didn't mind, though. She was like his best friend. And she was the world's most amazing secret-keeper.
"Hiya sis!"

Her ears flicked back and her eyes closed with pleasure, a rumbling purr of happiness coming up from her throat. It was the only sound she could make, but she made it often enough with her brother around. She giggled soundlessly at the tickling, and nipped at one side of Nyo's ears gently.
Waka grinned again, wagging her tail happily in her own greeting. She turned her head in all directions, then cocked it to one side in a quizzical manner at Nyo, as if asking What are we doing today?
It was easiest to talk to him. He understood her the most, out of all their siblings and even their parents. Her mother loved her all the same, as did her father, but none could really understand her. She understood them, and tried to make an effort. But nothing came out.

Nyo grinned, also making a purring sound. He enjoyed hearing what he could of Waka, since as it was her voice was quite beautiful. Or at least to him it was - he enjoyed being around his sister. Playfully, he prodded the side of her face with his nose, before watching as she began to ask a question in her own special way.
He watched his sister's strange movements, which to most would just look like a bunch of jumbled movements meaning nothing in the long run. But to Nyotamkia, Waka's twin brother who cared for her, it was extremely clear what she was saying. "I dunno - what do you want to do?"

Waka became thoughtful, tilting her head the other way as she often did when she started thinking about anything. Chores popped up in her head first, but today was such a beautiful day that she didn't want to spend the whole time doing things her family asked her to do. Then games came to mind: tag, hide-and-seek, follow the leader, scavenger hunt...
Her eyes brightened and she made burrowing motions with her paws, then an excited expression at 'finding' something. This was her suggestion of How about a scavenger hunt?

Nyo watched his sister, head cocked to the left and ears flopped over as his eyes shined brightly, almost sparkling. He had to keep his eyes focused - it was his ears that didn't matter that much. To the pair, sight was more important than hearing, as it was how they communicated. A scavenger hunt? ...That sounded like fun! "Sure!" Nyo replied, tongue loling out of his mouth playfully, "But where? Everyone else is over by the realy big bug hotspot..."
It helped for Waka to be able to hear and see as well as any other wild dog, even more so, because her voice lacked sound and therefore she needed all the advantages she could get with her other senses. Ummmmm... She thought for a moment, looking around and eventually standing up to perhaps get a better view of the area around. What about over near the river? There were lots of different things there. Fish, rocks, plants...a great scavenger hunt.
Nyo flashed a bright smile to his sister, nodding his head in a very enthusiastic way as he scrambled to his feet, taking a bound in the direction of the suggested scavenging site. "Awesome idea! C'mon!" He took another three bounds, turning his head to make sure that Waka was coming too, before he looking forwards and broke into a sprint, reaching the river in no time.
Grinning as well, she bounded after him, overtook him a bit when he paused, and then was left behind as he broke into a sprint. Well, she wouldn't be beat! Waka's legs pounded the ground harder and faster as she pushed them to a faster speed. Though Nyo was already there at the river when she arrived, she didn't bother stopping. She plowed right into the water, and it felt wonderful!
Nyo giggled - a loud, playful giggle that was silenced by a loud splash as he dived into the water, submerging himself and opening his amber eyes to see the wonders of life under the surface. He spotted his sister, starkly constrasting with the calm blue of the water, flashing her a grin as he began to paddle around, nosing around curiosly in the riverbed.
Waka blended in better with the river water better than he did! He looked liked sparkly mud, she thought with a laugh, and told him that when he surfaced. She, on the other hand, just looked like a sparkly, darker shade of water, that's all. The sunlight made the water's surface glitter and she happily swam around, after her brother. Now, since this WAS a scavenger hunt, what could they find first? A pretty rock? A weird plant?
Nyo laughed at his sister, rolling over and somersaulting in the water. he was having a blast! When he saw Waka heading to the riverbed, presumably to start scavenging, he was quick to follow, not wanting to be beaten by his twin. Sticking his nose into the mud he moved it around, disturbing the dust and causing small fish to quickly flee. Nyo simply flashed a grin, pawing at the ground in his search.
Hmm...so many things to find, so little time! Her paws eagerly pawed through the muddy riverbank on the opposite side her brother was currently digging through. Then she hit something hard, and ducked her head under to see what it was. It looked like a rock, and she couldn't see it very well, so she bit it and carried it up and over to the shore. She'd inspect it later; it was still scavenging time! Within a few minutes, Waka found a few slimy, odd-looking plants, some more rocks (one was really, really shiny and another was the smoothest thing in the world), and a circle made out of a strange fur or hide. It had a little knot at one end, holding onto a broken shard of...something. It had been tough to find, too, but she had dug it up from the bottom. A bit exhausted, she grinned at Nyo and waited for him to catch up in the hunt before she shared her treasures with him.
Hmm, now what could he find? Digging and digging and digging further still, Nyo picked up anything that caught his attention, swimming to the surface and depositing it in a mall pile before diving back down again. When he noticed his sister had stopped, he did too, scrambling out of the water and spreading out his pile with a proud, puffed-out chest. He had three different shells, one of which was cracked. One pointed rock, one yellow piece of seaweed, part of a human fishing net, a spear head and - his pride and joy - a starfish. "I so win!"
Wow, she told him quickly, looking at his treasures. You found a lot of stuff! And he had. All the things she had found looked small and worthless next to his. And that star-shaped thing...was it moving? Waka moved her head in closer and delicately sniffed it. Then she reared her head back and made a face. Ew, it smells weird. She scooted her pile closer to his for inspection.
Nyo grinned, chest still puffed out. he was so proud! He giggled a Waka inspected his starfish, sniffing at it himself before his nose wrinkled in mild disgust, the youngster moving over instead to his sister's pile of trinkets. He pawed at them curiously, moving a rock off of the top and instead sniffing the piece of fur. "Eew - now that's weird."
Waka giggled as he did the same thing as she, wrinkling his nose up at the star creature. She made a face at him. It's not weird! I think I'll keep it, she told him, moving to scoop up the circle. Then, with a thought in mind, she stepped her paw into the circle, on the ground, and then wrapped it up around her paw. Not too tight, because then it would hurt. But just tight enough so that it wouldn't fall off. The broken shard looked like it used to be something pretty, but it still was to her. It was a light green, with rubbed-down jagged edges (from the constant stream, no doubt) dangling down towards her toes. She liked it.
Nyo tilted his head again, watching his sister with mild interest as she wrapped the fur around her paw. When she finished he lowered his head, extending his nose and sniffing it again, before taking a jump backwards and looking over her. "It looks pretty on you...I want one!" he demanded, diving forwards and nosing through her pile once more.
Waka laughed soundlessly and shook her paw so the pretty jade jingled some more, shaking with her momentum. Wait, I can help too! i found one in the first place, she told him, shoving him out of her pile. There aren't any more in there. If there are, it'd be in the water, dummy. Since that's where she found it in the first place, after all.

Nyo blinked, shaking dust off of his nose, sneezing loudly. He flashed a charming grin at his sister - right. That did make sense. And so, he dived back into the water to search, wanting a mathing bracelet. They were twins, they had to match! He giggled, looking to her with a face that asked, Where did you find it in the first place?'
Over on this side. Waka walked over to the side she told him about with ease, motioning with her head towards the muddy river bank she had searched earlier and had found her own bracelet in. If you don't find one, we can make you one! You'll get to pick how it looks, too. Won't that be fun? She didn't get to pick. If she had, the stone would be whole and it would be blue, not this green. But she still liked it. She hopped into the water to help him search.
Nyo watched Waka, following her over to muddy bank she indicated, digging with his paws in an attempt to search for jewellery of his own. After searching for several moments and finding nothing he kicked at the ground in frustration, his growl acusing bubbles to escape his maw as the puppy paddled to the surface to take a breath."This is stupid! I can't find anything!"
Waka didn't give up so easily, nor did she yell her frustrations (not that she could anyway). I'll keep looking, then. And she did. Even though he stopped and was yelling, she went back under the water to paw around and to nose through the debris she found. Once, she found a small little shell, but it wasn't attached to anything. She saved it anyway. He might want to put it on his own bracelet when they found one. But for the next few minutes, that turned into 20 minutes, that turned into longer, she couldn't find anything. Eventually, the wild dog pup surfaced, panting after her exertion, and laid down on the shore to rest for a moment or two.
"Did you find anything!?"Nyo demanded, instantly nuzzling his sister, pawing at her nose in an attempt to gain a reply. Of course, it wasn't a vocal reply he was after - just a confirmation. Looked like she didn't have anything, though - perhaps he wouldn't get his bracelet. Pouting, he collapsed beside Waka, licking the side of her nose fondly."It's not fair. I want a pretty bracelet."
Waka shook her head sadly, unable to find anything decent in the mud-covered banks under the water. Holding her breath for so long was making her dizzy and her head ached a little. Sighing, she collapsed on the dry bank next to their pile of treasures to rest for a moment or two. I'm sorry, she told him. We'll find something for you, though. I just need a minute. That mud is thick to dig through!
Nyo's forehead was furrowed, the puppy not happy. he wanted ti now! When his sister flopped onto her side, though, he was quickly at her side, nuzzling her neck with his nose, a small whimper vibrating through his maw. Was she hurt? ...No, it didn't seem so, but he hadn't meant to make her so tired. "I'm sorry, Waka. Don't worry - It's not that important, anyway." He'd rather his twin felt happy and well rather than him having a stupid bracelet.
She shook her head again and smiled at him, toughing it out. It's fine, she said. I'm sorry I can't find anything good. Maybe we could go and search another lake or pond or something, and see if anything good is over there. Many different creatures came to many different pools of water, after all. There could be a very good chance of them finding something just as good--if not better--as her little bracelet in another watering hole.
Nyo smiled, nuzzling his sister again before laying himself down beside her, keeping them close together. He liked being able to feel her body heat. Laying his head on her chest he pondered, nodding at the words he saw."Yeah - that's a good idea. Only when you're ready, though."
Waka grinned and nuzzled the head on her chest, laying hers on top of his gently. Good. She didn't want to discourage him from getting something like what she had--after all, they were twins, and most of the things they would end up doing would be the same in some way or another anyway. She could be unselfish for a little bit and help him find something just as pretty as her bracelet. They wouldn't be exactly the same, anyway.
She closed her eyes for a minute, only then realizing that she was so tired. Waka almost fell asleep, even, but she blinked her eyes open and shook her head to wake herself up a bit more. Doing so moved Nyo from her chest, which was what she wanted to do. Alright, I'm ready!
Nyo watched his sister from where he lay, amber eyes sparkling just like their coat.s They were all starry - like fallen stars! They were special, and he knew it. They just had to convince everyone else. He noticed her beginning to fall asleep and a smile quirked his maw, before he was moved from ehr stomach as she fought to stay awake.
He was about to protest, saying she should sleep, but she seemed happy! Tongue lolling out of his mouth Nyo nuzzled his sister before giving a merry bark, starting off in a random direction."Alright then! Let's go!" And then he left, his sister resumably following.
