I was re-reading the first book and I am confused about something. When Light first meets Ryuk he shows him the death note and all the names he's written in it. The book shows pages of writing and Ryuk said something like "that's a lot of names." But then when Light uses the death note to kill the guy with the hostages and the guy on the motorcycle he act's like those are the first victims. He says "I've killed two people!" and L says his first victim was the guy with the hostages. Soo.. what about all the other names that Light wrote and showed Ryuk? I know I must be missing something but did those people just not count or did the author forget?
The "I've killed two people" bit is a flashback to when he first uses the note.

in the anime it explains it as the guy with a motorcycle and the one with the hostages as his first two, then a little clip of him writing names, then his meeting with ryuk.
