I've tried it before, and achieved it, but mind you it is extremely difficult.
It took me over a year to succusfully astral project on my own, and after that it started to get easier for me though I still struggled with it. I havn't been quite into it much for the past eight monthsor so, I've been trying to do it again, but it's hard.
It requires a very deep state of meditation to achieve through the method I use. You have to fall into a very deep state of meditation and after a while you may begin to feel the difference between your body and your spirit. From there you get to the hardest part, you must try to coax your spirit away from your body. This is extremely difficult to do, and I've succuded very few times.
Another, easier, method is to fall into a lucid sleep, and from there try to seprate from your body. The seperation is far easier, but using such a method you could easily fall into a deep state of sleep before being able to astral project.
The first time I astral projected I didn't even know what astral projection was... I thought it was all a dream. I was somewhere between ages 5 and 7. I rember having a 'dream' that I was in my room and it was night time. I couldn't sleep, so I headed downstairs to see my mom. She was watching TV and didn't acknowlege that I was there, even when I started calling to her. I was very confused by this and I scurried back to my room. Theres a street light directly across the street from my room so it never really gets all to dark at night. I walked over to my mirror and looked into it. I didn't see myself standing there, but I did see my body on the bed behind me. I was really freaked out by this, and from there I don't quite know what happened... I thought I must have been dead... the shock probably made my spirit return to my body.

Oh my...What you've said is true Spirit...
My entire life (not recently however) has always been strange dreams like that. I've had those 'dreams' for as long as I could remember.
When the family would pass old houses or cemetaries I swore I've seen before, they just blamed it on an over-active imagination.
Then a couple years ago I just...fell on astral projection. I read how it was done and how difficult it it, only realising that that was what I had been doing for most of my life!
Well instead of my soul traipsing off to where it wanted to go, I decided to take action and learn how I could control where I wanted to go when I wanted to go.
The learning how to meditate was the hardest part, and I can't do it anymore, haven't for a long long time.
I seen many things and have 'met' many different people. What I mean by 'met' is that I followed them for a few hours but they couldn't see me. The people I was around could never see me, except one time when I found myself in this big elaborote mansion/house studying a beautiful porcelain and ivory urn or vase of some sort. It was really pretty and I just wanted to see it.
Well this woman walked down the staircase and walked in to the room, but then she started screaming, looking right at me. I don't know how this woman seen me but I felt horrible for causing such fear and left.
The last time I astral projected went very, very wrong.
As soon as my soul left my body I was jetted off to the middle of a cemetary. Over each grave was a misty white soul calling out to me for help, reaching for me, pulling me in. They could only move so far away from their own grave and it was so hard to escape. I almost didn't make it out of there.
Mind you if you stay too long out of your body, your body COULD die and then you'll be trapped, a ghost in a sense.
I made it back and never tried it again since then. Been a few years.
Anyway if anyone actually BELIEVES ME...I could maybe help you learn how to do the astral projection itself though you will have to learn and master meditation first.
I understand that a lot of people aren't going to believe this jibberish, that's why I don't go on about it all that much, only on rare occasions...

I myself have never astral projected nor gotten into a deep meditation, no matter how hard Ive tryed. *sighed* I need total qiute to do so, but I live in the middle of a Very loud city. I have been working on past life regretion methods, but have yet to see any results. Oh well, looks like time and patience are once again my enemies in this situation.

sad I've been reading a lot about astral projection, and I too fail at the very beginning. I have no idea how to meditate. I always worry that I'm going to do something wrong, I think I'm almost afraid of it.
But what the lady above me said, that souls were reaching out to her from the grave, that almost frightens me into thinking that there isn't an afterlife. Were they all reaching to you, or just some of them?

I'm not sceptical at all about the authenticity of spirit's and your stories. Sounds intense for sure. I would like some help learning how to astral project and to become a master meditator. I actually think I had my first experience with astral projection the other night. So I've been pretty big into learning to Lucid dream for almost half a year now, and have had little success. Well, the other night I got about 5-6 hours of sleep and couldn't sleep anymore so I got up and decided to stay up for the rest of the day. Two hours later I got sleepy so I went back to bed. Not realizing that I was doing a lucid technique WBTB (Wake Back To Bed). Eventually I was concious WHILE falling asleep and experienced my second time being concious while sleep paralysis happened. I heard a loud buzzing and it freaked me out so I woke up. For the rest of my sleeping period I tried to make that happen again. Eventually, I remember tying to sit up with my astral body with little success. I only sat up a little bit and it seemed as though my room was back to how it used to be. But it was CRAZY! When I woke up I felt as though I'd been sleeping FOREVER and had REALLY deep sleep even though I'd only been under for less than an hour. It was neat.

Sorry I've been gone for so long.
basically meditating is what you NEED to accomplish first.
You need to 'erase' everything from your mind. Don't think at all, nothing, blank..NOTHING.
Takes a lot of practice but I'm sure if you looked over the net you'd be able to find a better technique than what I give. Meditation was never natural for me and I had to learn it and I can't do it any longer from years of not keeping up with it.
The souls above the grave?
I don't know what that was...I don't know why I projected there either. And yes, every single grave had a soul above it. They were sad and scared and tried to grab me in there. Maybe they thought I was a soul, or maybe they knew I was a soul not yet dead from it's body? Either way that was the end of me projecting.
I wouldn't worry about there being an afterlife or not because of this though. It could have just been recent graves (It was a small cemetary) and the souls didn't leave their deceased bodies yet, or maybe the reaper didn't come for them.
Perhaps that's what hell is?

You should be able to feel your regular physcial sensations along with a heightened awareness and feelings.
I had one experience in which I was consiously working on astral projection. I was laying down meditating. I foucused on projecting upwards out of my body. I fliped out of my body and seen the room like I somersolted out of my body it was the most amazing feeling then I feel right back into my body, I see the room with non-physical eyes, it was really cool.
This was a few years ago. I want to work on this again. I have read alot of books on the subject, Robert Monroe is very good. Not sure if this link I found is from the same R M i read tho.

I either project... or go in to another mindset. I can feel myself sort of "sit up" when I lay in bed for a while, and then the rest of my body goes numb, I can see from different angles of the room I'm in, but I can't really leave the room usually. My BF has his own shields placed in the room, and he's a hell of alot better at putting them up than I am.

She was astral projecting (though she didn't realize she had astral projected until after she woke up), and she was at the supermarket. As she was walking around some woman who was checking out saw her, and immediately turned very pale and frightened, to the point where she just put down her groceries and left the store.
