Smoldering embers littered the atmosphere of the underbelly of the city. It seemed to fall constantly, languidly amongst the intricate corridors of copper and steel that wound in and out and back again throughout the forsaken structures. The slums, some people called it, and with just reason. In any direction you looked you could find a decaying building, a hooker looking for work, a gang ducking in and out of pools of sunlight and shadow. It was the dirtier side of the city that a lot of people like to pretend didn't exist - but it was home away from home, and the startling contrast of crimson was comfortable there.
The woman held up her hand to the sky and watched as the pure porcelain was stained slowly by the soot that fell, the haze obscuring the sky. It was so uncharacteristically peaceful there, perched high above the littered streets on that warm thermal outcrop. The only sound was the low hum of distant traffic and silence, silence and sleep that seemed imminent. A lot of her family wouldn't much less be willing to come here unarmed, let alone so at ease they could sleep, but Donna was not of their creed as much as she almost wished she was and consoled herself as she was unable to stay awake any longer. The city went on, and the trouble lurking there slumbered.

The spirits did their song and dance with Donna's body and soul and soon enough the woman was waking up in a bed on a small ship. Only now it was with a silver chain on her neck, a jar of dirt on it, and a purple bellhop sitting next to her. YAY SKIPPING OVER STUFF.

Donna had reflexes, and not all of them good. On this particular day, thankfully for the bellhop, she was in a completely eccentric sort of mood despite her calm and thus did not attempt to slug her on waking. Rather, Donna rubbed her head groggily, looked up at the woman, and lofted a brow. She had but one question, after noting the jar of dirt and the chain, and lifted a finger in query. "Where has the rum gone?..."

Cami blinked a bit and then looked around herself hastily before finding a half drunk bottle of rum under the edge of the cushion she was sitting on. "Heeeeeeeeere it is!" she said cheerfully, offering Donna the bottle.

THAT caused the woman to perk up considerably, and she snatched the bottle, uncorking it and taking a swig. After downing most of the fiery liquid she smacked her lips and grinned at the bellhop, deciding that she liked the woman immensely. "Holy buckets of cyanide lemon meringue and sparkling wombat housewifes that's good. What's your name, toots?"

"Donna" she extended her hand and winked, taking another swig, "Good to meet ya. Now, what's this about? I'm usually only abducted by men...or my b*****d fathers...but we won't go into that, darlin." To the this in reference she pointed to the necklace and thwapped the jar of dirt's side gently.

Cami shook her hand cheerfully. "Oh, good to meet you too. You're gonna wanna finish that bottle 'fore I tell you what the necklace is about. It tends to piss off most of the people who show up here."

Donna shrugged, tipping it down and finishing off most of the remains before deciding the jar needed some loving to and skillfully uncorking it and pouring a few drops down into it as well, recorking it. "So, what were you gonna tell me?"

Grinning, the bellhop tipped her head to the side. "Yoooooooou're gonna have a baby. From a necklace. So you've got a jar of dirt and what's inside it is A SOUL!" Okay, so it seemed Cami actually HAD been the one who drank the other half of the bottle. Oh mai!

That caught her off guard. The woman paused. She looked down. She blinked..."That probably wasn't the best idea, huh? Ah ******** more the merrier, right?! It's not like dirt can even GET drunk..." At least she hoped not. Regardless, she leaned against Cami and passed back the jug, grinning. "Soooooo....You pickle souls, huh? Whatalivin..."

That sounded...delicious, actually, but Donna didn't say so. She didn't like the thought of picturing her kids that way, even though one in particularly buff for a creature being only a foot tall...A devious look did manage itself though and she cackled softly, a precursor to the horrors that loomed before them. "First the world...and then...The GODS! I shall break them...." She leaned back to look at Cami. "After parenting and bedtime stories, of course, don't wanna be a bad mommeh you know..."
