Our Roleplaying Rules
Follow Gaia's Terms of Service.
Be literate (no text talk, abreviations, overuse of emoticons, and other nonsense).
Do not spam. Period. This is NOT the chatterbox.
Romance must be kept PG-13.
Each rp post must have AT LEAST 5 sentences.
Be realistic. This branches of the whole 'no godmodding.' Just use common sense.
No Mary Sues or Average Joes. Be creative and original.
Keep swearing to a minimum.
Do not be rude to any role players unless allowed (see bully thread in OOC Chat Forum).
You must follow the rp post guidelines.*
Use asterisks correctly.**
No godmodding. Your character is not all knowing/powerful.***
No metagaming.****
Plagiarism will get you automatically banned.
Rules are subject to change.
Breaking rules will result in punishment.
You will get one warning (Depending on severity) for breaking the rules and then you are out and or reported. *RP Post Guildlines
You must use
- "quotations" for speaking
-italics for thoughts
- {{ }} or (( ))for out of character (if you must have it)
- write in third person. Just like the sample in your profile, it should not contain any 'I', or 'me' unless they are thoughts. Please refer to Kanita Doyle's Profile if you wish to see more good examples.
**Use of Asterisk
An asterisk is a tool used to direct attention to a foot note, not to be placed around characters actions.
***Godmoding Examples:
Playing other people's characters:
Their actions, reactions, thoughts or words.
Playing staff:
You can state absently that a professor gave your RPC a pointed look to quiet them down. But that is it. No controlling what punishments, compliments or rewards the professors give out. No stating that they said something they didn't.
Declaring the outcome of a situation:
Not giving others the chance or time to react.
Giving your character a position or title they don't have:
Your character cannot be on the Quidditch team or a Perfect without permission from a VC. They cannot say they are 'the best dueler in the school' without having it stated by a VC. They cannot say that everyone finds them irresistibly handsome, because it's not true
Having knowledge beyond the norm:
Like knowing what someone else's character is thinking, feeling, going to do/say.
These are some, there are more but hopefully you get the point.
****Metagaming Definition:
When a character is talking to another character, and suddenly the other character can do something, or has something that they originally didn't have.
Metagaming Examples
Bob has a knife. Joe learns that bob has a knife, and suddenly has a knife.
'Someone can speak another language just because someone else does.'
