Switch hadn't been there when Xai went that first night to inquire about her already broken glove. She hadn't even had it twenty-four hours, it was so depressing! She hadn't connected the dots just yet that the glove wasn't working because of the little girl that had inexplicably appeared in her home, but at least Xai was caring for her like her own child until she had some sort of explanation.
Something. Anything. Her race didn't asexually reproduce!
Apparently the girl hadn't had a name, so Xai decided to name her 'Evari' so she wouldn't get stuck being called 'Little girl' for the rest of her life. Everyone needs a name! But it'd been so long, maybe Switch would be in her store today, so today Xai was walking through Durem looking for the curio shop. In one hand she held the dead glove and in the other she held Evari's dully glowing hand that she'd come to discover didn't turn off, it was just less noticeable in the light. Evari was humming happily and swinging her mother's hand back and forth and round and round, an action that seemed to go unnoticed...which just wouldn't do. At one point she'd tugged it in a way that'd tripped up Xai's concentration and almost sent her to the ground, staring wide eyed at the pouting child she was walking with. "Is something the matter?"
"Bored!" Evari cried, waving around the arm that was holding onto Xai. The Ursontaean frowned and stood back up to look around. She knew the little girl was bored but she just had to see Switch about her broken glove! As if on cue she spotted the shop a few yards away, grinning widely and dragging Evari in that direction. No! Evari didn't want to go this way! They'd passed a park in the opposite direction that she wanted to go to! "No! No! No, no, NO!" She cried out, trying to pry Xai's hand off her own with her free one and digging her heels into the ground to try and plant herself in one spot. It was no use, Xai was bigger and stronger than her and ended up literally dragging the limp body of a child who wasn't getting her way. Evari pouted up at the sky. Stupid sky. She wanted to go to the park! Xai didn't seem to notice this as the opened the door to the shop and looked around.
"Swiiiiitch? Are you in?"

Well, she was back. Another day, in the shop. She'd given up cleaning it, and had settled for trying to at least bring some order to the place. Today, like the past few days, Kay had insisted on coming along to 'help' his Guardian; of course, as always, he wasn't helping. He really, really wasn't helping.
Xai's inquiry was met with a loud crash and the terrified shriek.
"EYAAAH! SPIDER! SPIDERS! PLURAL! ARGH THEY'RE INVADDDIIIINNNGGGGG~" The shriek seemed to turn into actual words and the crashing noise sounded more like running footsteps, which suggested that the person doing the running and the shrieking was getting closer to the door. Eventually Switch came into view, and she skidded around to hide behind Xai in a very slouched position, holding the alien woman's upper arms and peering around her form to stare with wide-eyed terror into the shop.
There was laughter then, and the soft sound of a child's footsteps on the creaky old floors. Moments later the dark-skinned, dark-haired Shaman boy came into view, holding a very, very intricate mobile tied to the end of a dark stick. The mobile itself contained the taxidermed corpses of spiders; all shapes, all sizes, and the stick it was attached to was clearly the boy's doing.
"Hahaha! Oh Na, you shoulda seen yer face." Kay laughed out, rubbing underneath his only real eye; the boy could still see with both eyes, but the black abyss that was his right eye didn't ever move; much like the skull it portrayed.
"Ugh, Kay! I'm going to...augh!" Switch let go of Xai to stomp towards the boy that was still laughing in hysterics, snatching the mobile away (with a visible wince and shudder) before straightening up, looking back at Xai sheepishly.
"I'm uhh, Yeah, I'm in." She managed to get out; so embarrassing! "I'm sorry, I'm a little bit Arachnophobic." Little being an understatement. "What can I help you with?"
Kay, though disappointed that he lost his newest fun thing, saw something glowing near the strange woman, and moved to the side a few steps to investigate...without getting any closer to it. He was petting Nahual's feathered head to calm the serpent down; he didn't like the noise.

Spiders? Plural? Xai and Evari both blinked, exchanged a look and then turned their attentions to the direction the voice was coming from. Xai knew that voice, it was Switch's and she was...terrified by an invasion of spiders? That didn't sound like a good thing. Xai's gaze followed Switch as she ran and skid and hid behind her, staring down at her arms with the most confused look on her face. "Are you alright?" She asked the poor, frightened woman. Evari was still hanging from her hand, her lower half on the ground and her upper half being held up by her mother...it was actually starting to hurt her arm, but she just didn't feel like getting up. Think of it as a little girl holding a teddy bear and carelessly dragging him around, that's pretty much what's happening here.
Evari looked up at the spider mobile that the bigger boy was holding, gasping and leaning closer in that direction. Coooooooool! The glowing girl reached out with her free hand to try and grab at the mobile, but it was too far and quickly taken away from the boy by another lady who also had blue hair. Everyone had blue hair! Cool! ...But...that didn't mean she was very original now. Poo. With a pout Evari dropped her arm back down and stared up at the mobile until a movement caught her eye, looking back at the other kid to watch him pet at something. What was that?
"Oh, Arachnophobia...the fear of spiders. I see. That's understandable, they are weird creatures." Xai seemed unfazed by it all until Switch asked what she could help her with. That's right! She was here for a reason! Xai frowned and held out the dead glove for Switch to see. "It...it won't work anymore! And the color is gone! I'm not sure what happened. It was like this when I found it after I made some dinner the day I got it from here." The horror! Evari could care less about Xai's reasons for being here, she was too busy staring wide-eyed at the boy with the thing coming out of his head.

Switch glanced down at the little girl on the floor - what was it with guardians holding their toddlers by their arms? The thought was a passing one, as looking down made her see the mobile again...and the alien woman was talking to her. Green eyes moved to the dead-looking gray glove, then down to the slightly glowing pile of colours - child - on her floor. She pointed down at the girl so Xai could see.
"The little girl came from your glove." She said shortly, as if that explained everything. "That glove had a will to live soooo...it became a living being. Thats your glove."
Kay tilted his head, then waved at the little girl. "Whattcha doin? That doesn't look very comfy." He liked her! She was very colourful; much like the bright teal pants that Switch hated so much. His red eye followed her wide-eyed gaze to Nahual, and the Mayan boy sat down on the creaky floor with very little ceremony; it was more like falling backwards, only landing in a sitting position. "Wanna pet 'im?"

In Xai's defense Evari had been walking until she decided to make like a ragdoll in an effort to make Xai see things her way and take her to the park. Xai blinked when Switch mentioned her though, staring at the other woman for a moment completely...dumbfounded. The little girl came from the glove? That sounded odd. "So...Evari is my glove?" She glanced down at the hanging, and now swinging, girl hanging from her hand. Evari had decided she was bored so she decided to swing herself side to side like a hammock, staring intently at the boy and whatever it was that was coming out of his head. So coooool. Xai stared at her a few seconds more before looking back up at Switch. She still looked confused. She couldn't wear Evari! "I...don't understand." Xai's new to the whole 'Things on Gaia sometimes become people!' concept.
Down below Evari was still swinging like a hammock, shrugging to the boy's question. "Swingin'...kinda hurts..." She said when she swung a little too far to one side and pulled on her arm a little more. Ow, it was starting to get kinda sore. Evari pouted and stood up straight, trying to pry her hand out of Xai's grip again as she had before. This time she even put her foot on Xai's leg and pushed for the extra pull. This time Xai noticed Evari wanted her freedom again and let her go, watching her daughter tumble backwards and land in a tipped over box of hats. It didn't seem to hurt her...in fact she started laughing.
"Pet him?" The thing was a him? What was it? Evari crawled over to the boy and sat down beside him, staring up at the thing again, her lips puckered slightly. Oooh! Yeah! She wanted to pet it! Grinning, Evari held out her hand to pat at the thingie. "What's it?"

"For lack of better explanations, yes, Evari was your glove." Switch repeated for the woman, looking down at the bright and apparently bored little girl. "I don't really understand it much myself, but from what I understand, the item draws you to it, and once you take it home it gives itself a physical body of its own...but either way, now you have only one glove, and a very bright toddler."
Kay sat down beside the girl when she came over to him, smartly holding Nahual's feathered mouth shut. The serpent didn't like to be touched by anyone other than Kay...and this was a little girl that screamed trouble louder than she screamed blinding. "He's my, uh, pet? I guess. Maybe? We're kind of connected." The red eyed boy laughed happily, then brought Nahual's feathered head down to where the girl could reach him, despite the serpent's attempts to stay as high up on Kay's skull as he could. "His name is Nahual, you can pet him, he's feathery." He offered, still holding Nahual's jaws closed, but not tight enough to cut off his breathing.
"I'm Kay, by the way. Whatsser name?"

"Oh, I see." Xai could just pretend she understood for now. Maybe it would make more sense in time, but what Switch had said did give her an explanation as to where Evari had come from. The Ursontaean looked down at Evari for a moment before turning back to Switch with a look of surprise. "How interesting!"
While Xai was discovering Evari's origins, Evari could really care less. This thing coming out of this boy's head was the coolest. thing. ever. "Pet?" How did you get connected to a pet? That was cool! Evari wanted one too! As she gently pat at Nahual's head with one hand Evari patted at her own head with her other, possibly searching for her own companion. Did she get one too? Kay's pants were just as colorful as herself, after all, so they must have been the same! So where was her head companion? Not fair!
When Kay asked her name Evari paused for a moment. Her name? Um...what was it again? Xai had told her but...agh! What was her name?! Gasping, the glowing girl turned to pat at Xai's leg and get her attention. The woman obliged and look down at her daughter. "S'my name? She asked in all seriousness. Xai blinked.
"It's Evari, remember?" How odd. Evari grinned and turned back to Kay without another word.
"Evari!" Because he totally didn't just see her ask what her own name was.

Nahual stayed still while the girl touched him, mildly irked that Kay had offered, but not really able to stop it once it had started. Xbalanque's red eye moved to observe the rather colourful girl when she pet her head. "I don't think you have one." He commented with a grin, then watched the interaction between the girl and her apparent Mother over her name. Evari, huh?
"Hullo Evari." Kay waved and Nahual, figuring this was the end of his torment at the petting hands of the little girl, lifted himself up and curled into the boy's dark brown hair, making himself comfortable and out of reach of those glowing red fingers. Nahual's host looked around, his hands on his hips, and eventually reached out, grabbing Evari's hand and lightly tugging her into some of the stacks. "Lets go play~" Which meant 'lets look for the strangest thing in here and freak Switch out with it'.

"Not fair." Evari pouted when Kay said she probably didn't have a headpet too. She wanted a headpet! Why couldn't she have one? This boy was older...so maybe she got it later! Yeah, that had to be it. Ignoring the fact that her mother, his mother and most other people didn't have headpets either she was satisfied with the fact that her own would arrive later. Yes.
She waved back at Kay. "Hihi Kay!" She said more cheerfully after coming to her totally accurate conclusion, tilting her head and watching him look around. What was he looking for? Oh! Did he have cool things? She liked cool things! Lots of Xai's things were cool, but some of them she couldn't touch. Something about getting herself hurt and/or breaking them. Huh! Oh well! She would find a way to play with them! Evari didn't fuss when her hand was grabbed and she was tugged away, mostly because he said they were going to go play. She cheered, raising a fist over her head in victory and happily following the boy. Yay! She liked playing! What were they going to play? Oooh could they make a mess?!
"Yay! Lessplaylessplay! What're we playin'?" Evari asked, bouncing excitedly on her toes as she followed Kay, looking around at everything they passed. Whoooooa!
