heart ~Introduction~ heart Drumming her fingers along the stem of the wine glass, Aki tried to reign in her nervous energy. The entire evening had been Melisande’s idea…as soon as the Raevan realized Aki had no plans for celebrating the sweet holiday, the muse had started making plans for her. Unbeknownst to Aki, she’d left several neatly scribed cards in key locations...one in the lab, one at the flower shop, even one at the coffee shop where they’d met Lucretia! The message on the card was a simple invitation to meet, with little more than an address and a gold embossed cupid in the lower corner. Totally unaware of what the Raevan had planned, Aki waited as patiently as she could. It was sweet of Pasha to try to set her up, even though she had little interest in love. At Meli’s urging, she’d dressed up in her favorite gold silk dress…hair pinned behind her tapered elven ears and a tiny diamond glinting at the hollow of her neck. The empty chair across the small table was starting to make her a bit uncomfortable…had she dressed up for nothing? ”Ohh, here comes someone!” Melisande clapped her hands together excitedly, watching the stairs from her perch at the edge of the café’s garden terrace. The pink bows in her hair bobbed as she leaned to the side for a better look. “ Someone?! What do you mean, someone?” Aki started to rise, but it was too late. Her (first) date was here!

What did kids know these days? What kids set up adults on dates!
Rachel sighed softly, where in the world had her students come with the idea that is she lonely? She was perfectly alright home, alone with Tanneken and her students. Although thinking about it now, she could get ride of the students from the picture. Rach looked to the side where in almost illegible scribbles the children had written the location name and the address… Café Jubilee’s rooftop garden terrace, well at least it was still in a non-city-ish environment right? It was bad enough that she’d had to leave an hour early just to find the place.
She looked back to the road again before glancing at her rear view mirror, tossing a strand of hair and then looking herself over. She’d actually straightened her hair today, it grazed past her shoulders perfectly silky and straight. She’d brought her bangs back and used a black clip so it could go unnoticed in her hair. With her face cleared, she’d put on little make up, a touch of mascara with a bit of eyeliner and just a bit of eye shadow. Her skin was already lightly tanned and didn’t need anything but a drop of moisturizer while she’d glossed her lips. She hadn’t known what to wear, so the little black dress would hopefully be of good impressions.
Parking the truck she grabbed her clutched and exited the truck, starring up at the building and almost having a panic attack. Gods… Why was she doing this?! Rachel took a deep breath and checked herself in the mirror again, okay… And off she went. Her black lacy heels clicking nervously as she followed the instructions, only pausing briefly before going up the stairs.
“ This better be worth it. “ As soon as she reached the upper floor her mouth almost dropped. A floating half figure of a, well what looked like a woman and then another woman. Rachel smiled, she’d try her best to stay in a good mood and not ruin it for both of them.
“ Hi.” She did a little wave before bring her hand back down to grip her clutch in front of her.

"Hello!" Melisande trilled a greeting, delighted at the sight of the first arrival. Drifting forward toward the lovely woman, Melisande spread her skirt in a bobbing curtsy. For her own outfit, the Raevan had selected an adorable short pink dress with french maid accents...rather appropriate considering that she was working for Aki! "Thank you for your company this evening! My name is Melisande...and may I present the Lady Aki?"Practically beaming, Pasha escorted Rachel towards the table as they talked, pausing to allow for the other woman's introduction. Aki remained standing as they approached, smiling bemusedly, and gracefully offered Rachel a hand in greeting. "It's always a pleasure to meet someone new. Please, have a seat?" She wasn't as nervous as she'd expected to be. In truth, the other woman looked confident and nicely put together...Aki was rather looking forward to some conversation!

Rachel smiled at the half woman, someone -had- to be playing some sort of joke on her… People weren’t born in halves… Half people usually didn’t look happy and actually greet… Half people were usually in a coffin with their other half. She nodded once as she, it introduced herself as Melisande and then the oh my! Elf! Elves didn’t exist! But she blinked once, putting the small fact at the back of her mind and followed Melisande to the table as well as try to keep up in conversation with her. When they reached the table she paused and lightly grabbed Lady Aki’s hand and lightly shoke it.
“ I’m Rachel Connor, nice to meet you as well. “ She released her hand and put her clutch to the side of the table and took a seat across from the other woman. Rach was glad at the moment she hadn’t bought the deep purple dress, they would have defiantly clashed dress wise.

Aki's long ears dipped, a bit of wry humor at the edges of her smile. Rachel certainly didn't look too comfortable! "Melisande seemed to think that I needed to meet new people, with Valentines approaching." As best she could guess, Pasha and Rachel hadn't met before...she was curious how the Raevan managed to set up a totally blind date! "Do you have a chance to get out often, Rachel?"
Meli floated a bit closer to the table, carrying a little tray with two tall bottles balanced upon it. Dimpling with a smile, she motioned to the selection and addressed both ladies once she wouldn't be interrupting. "Bubbly water? Or bubbly wine?"
"Champagne." Aki said, by way of correction, but Meli assumed it was a request and happily poured the first glass. "Ah-well. Nevermind. Thank you, Pasha."
"And for you, Lady Rachel?" Melisande's ribbon spiraled gently as she hovered, waiting on the woman's order.

Rachel giggled softly, shaking her head.
" My students seemed to think the same for me. Although how I've managed to end up here is quite a surprise. " Oh a surprise indeed! How had the children managed to come up with something like this? Especially with an elf and a half woman... Although, Rach -was- curious and if Melisande left them, she'd make sure to ask about her. Rachel shifted in her seat slightly.
" No I don't go out much, I've lived mostly on the country side away from the whole-" She waved a hand around in the air and glanced to her sides.
" City area." When Melisande ask about a drink, the out come was a little obvious. A bottle of champagne was given to the racers who won, and the bottle was opened at the after party. Her father had always given her a few sips of the drink, and the thought of having champagne on Valentine's day seemed quite nice.
" Champagne please. " She smiled again, she was actually starting to relax a bit and loosen up the tension and nervousness she had beforehand.
" And what about you miss Aki? Go out often? " Rachel had never really been outside much, and was much less educated in the art of things that didn't include horses.

Melisande carefully poured Rachel's glass as well, and floated back with another bobbed curtsy. To give the women some privacy, she retreated to the far end of the balcony, where she could watch for other arrivals. Everything seemed to be going splendid so far, and the Raevan was more than pleased with herself. Not bad, considering Aki wasn't going to even leave the house!
"Students? You're a teacher!" It wasn't so much a question, but Aki seemed interested in that tidbit. "I have several...well...I suppose you could call them adopted children, like Melisande. I used to home school them myself until we got a nanny! That's a hard job."
Tipping forward her glass to tink against Rachel's, Aki lifted the beverage in a toast. "To teachers! A labor of love, if ever there was one!" Taking a brief sip, Aki smiled, enjoying the feel of the bubbles.
As Rachel asked her own question, Aki shrugged...pale shoulders rising in a single graceful gesture. "Often? No. With a whole house to manage, I don't usually have the time. I'm glad I made it out this evening, though. Most people I meet are..." Aki waved one hand vaguely, making a looping motion. "...either very strange, or very hyper. I prefer company like yours, I must say. So, when you're not teaching, what takes up your time?" She looked too young to have children of her own...
The sound of distant, gentle music reached them as Melisande poked at the speaker system, finally getting it to work. Success!!

Rachel grabbed her glass and softly hit it against Aki's own raise glass, then took a sip of the champagne, her eyes closing for the briefest moment as she enjoyed the fizzle of the liquid in her mouth.
" Well, technically I teach English riding. I quit school a year ago to take over the family business when my father died. " That, and to have the right to keep the farm moving on, which Rach had so far failed. She had one horse left out of the forty they used to own, and although Tanneken brought in sufficient funds with the lessons, she was... Looking for a bit more.
" Other... Children like Melisande? I don't want to be rude, but I mean... Melisande doesn't look like much of a child and even less you're 'normal' child. " She -really- didn't want to sound rude, Aki was quite the pleasant individual and Melisande was very nice. As Aki asked another question, Rachel blushed.
" Well... I haven't found a proper job... And teaching takes up most of my time, but I do manage two days of free time a week and sometimes more. On a ranch, there's usually lots to do although not right now. " Not right now because she only had one horse and she hadn't raced in a while.
" I used to race though. My father was a jokey so it was passed down to me. " She paused listening to the music.
" And I suppose you don't have much extra time with the household? "

After chatting for a while about Rachel's profession, Aki let the conversation steer to the Raevan. It seemed like the other woman wasn't used to 'unique' folk, and it was actually kind of cute watching her steal glances in Pasha's direction.
"I call her a child, because...she is much younger than she looks. Melisande is not normal, but she is a sweet girl. She was brought to me through a place called Lab 305!" Aki scribbled the name and address on one of the little pink napkins, and handed it over to Rachel with a smile. "I hope to see you there sometime, if you're interested!"
Though the conversation continued, the champagne glasses were empty, and Melisande did not refill them. The 'one drink limit' was part of the Raevan's schedule for Aki, to encourage her guardian to meet more than one new person over the course of the evening. Without rushing, Aki was able to conclude the short date at its natural end.
"Rachel, I really enjoyed meeting you! Perhaps Meli was right...it's nice to get out more, especially with good company. Will I see you at the lab, or perhaps here again someday for a proper dinner?" As they stood, Aki smiled, hoping the invitation didn't make the other woman uncomfortable. Good conversation was hard to find, especially with company so lovely! Melisande, sensing the end of the date was near, drifted a bit closer...smiling brightly at the two women.
Her plan was working beautifully!!

Rachel took the napkin, indeed she might visit it. Maybe this is the little extra she was looking for? Although the conversation continued, Rachel relaxed more and enjoyed herself more then she had in the months after her fathers death.
" I'll agree with you on this one, getting out more would be nice. I'll try and visit the lab someday, get a little more knowledge on this you know? And yes, dinner sounds nice. " Rachel smiled and stood, grabbing her clutch and opening it to go through it. She grabbed a business card and handed it to Aki. The card held a reachable number, her name and a picture of Tanneken. She extended it to Aki before shifting to put her seat in.
"It was really nice meeting you Aki! " And with a last parting smile, she let Melisande lead her out. Yup, she definitely needed to get out much more.

Melisande returned after seeing Rachel back to the bottom of the stairs. From the roof terrace, Aki waved farewell, still smiling. This was turning out to be more fun than she'd expected! Laying one hand on Aki's arm, Pasha leaned in to give her guardian a sweet kiss on the cheek. "See? I told you that you would have fun!" Mischief danced in the Raevan's bright blue eyes, and Aki laughed ruefully. "That you did! Well Pasha, who is next?!"

"Lazarus!! Are you sure about this?!" A somewhat flustered Kyou followed behind the floating Sigel, tugging nervously at his silver tie, loosening it up a little from his collar. Kyou had been rather busy with getting the lab back up and running that he didn't had any time for a breather in the last two months. So Lazarus thought it would be a good idea to hook him up with someone, get him out and about for a bit. Valentines shouldn't be spent alone after all.
"Ah here we are!" Lazarus exclaimed excitedly, dragging Kyou across the entrance of the ever familiar Cafe Jubilee. "Don't worry Kyou, I'm almost certain that it's going to be a girl." Judging from the handwriting and how the card was presented in the lab.
"That's why I'm not sure..." Kyou gulped nervously, straightening his dark vest this time. He didn't want to come, but Lazarus seemed so enthusiastic about it that he felt bad if he don't. Kyou had never been to a blind date before.
However, the sight that greeted Lazarus and Kyou at the top of the stairs was surprising. "Meli?" Lazarus exclaimed first, shocked.
"And Aki too!" Kyou gasped. She looks stunning in that gold silk dress.

For a moment, Melisande was shocked speechless! When she finally found her words, the Raevan offered a startled smile and dipped into a curtsy...spreading the hem of her little pink maid's outfit. A touch of pink settled onto her cheeks, as well. "Lazarus! And...doctor! Th-thank you for coming!" For a moment, she simply floated in place, still staring at them with wide blue eyes and pink cheeks, before she remembered that she had a job to do. "Ah, this way, please!"
Aki heard voices approaching, and gave her dress a last minute tug. She wasn't as nervous now that she knew what she was getting into, especially since the date with Rachel had gone so well. What she didn't expect, however, was to see the two gentlemen that Pasha escorted in next!
"Kyou! Laz! What a surprise!" Getting to her feet, shocked but happy to see them both, Aki offered both of her hands to Kyou. "It's been so long! And you both look so handsome!"
Melisande nodded from her place behind the group, agreeing wholeheartedly with the statement. She'd never seen Dr. Kyou look so nice!! Casting a small, shy smile at the other Sigel, Meli's fingers twiddled with one of ruffles at the edge of her apron. Laz looked handsome too!

Both Lazarus and Kyou blushed somewhat obviously as Aki complimented them. "Y-you look very beautiful too!" Kyou said, gulping down his nervousness. "Please, take a seat!" Kyou offered, holding out the chair for Aki. Although not having dated for a long long while, Kyou still remembered how to be a gentleman.
He was glad that the blind date is actually someone he knows. He let out a sigh of relief as he take his seat opposite Aki.
For some unknown reason, Lazarus couldn't get the blush off his face. Especially when Meli smiled at him. She looks so cute in that maid dress! However, he knows well that Meli is off limits, and he had promised Zave to not hurt Meli again. Staying still on the spot is making him feel like he's standing out like a sore thumb though. Now that he had successfully dragged Kyou to the blind date, he's not sure what to do next.
"Uhm, uh..." he muttered, ruffling his hair in embarassment as he turned towards Meli for help. "Should we...? Uh... What now?"
