It had been a few days since receiving his transfer papers. The pumpkin headed teen held the papers in hand as the last of his things were packed. A smile on his chubby cheeks only made them puff out more as he carried the box and paper in hand, hurrying through the halls to the Magic school dormitory. They had given him a week to transfer rooms, taking each day to pack what little he had accumulated and moving it to his new location. He often spent that day rearranging his things in his new room before moving returning to collect the rest. A neat freak he was not but organization was easier done in strides then all at once.
Finally finished setting up, he flopped down on his new bed looking around the room. It was bigger which he liked but unlike his other room, there was another bed. Perhaps he would get a roommate? Nash wasn't sure but he figured he's submit a request for one once he was settled. It had been awfully lonely by himself. Although he knew there weren't many magic students so it would probably be a while before that were possible. No matter...
Looking around, Nash noticed a pack of letters all neatly tied together with a single letter addressed for a family friend laying on top. "Oh yeah!" He let out sitting up to retrieve the letters. "That's right I almost forgot, I should send this back home soon." He whispered to himself. With a slight shrug he stood and grabbed his coat before hurrying out of the dorms to do just that.

As Nash rushed out of his dorm, he ran into a particularly beleaguered-looking Inuk stumbling out of Mica's dorm room. After a terrible nightmare that morning, he had bolted to Micajah's room looking for comfort and now, after struggling to get some find some peace and sleep, he was trying to find his way back to the student dorms. Wynn's eyes were burning, a sign of his lack of sleep, and all he wanted to do was go back to his room and sleep. Now that it was light, he'd have an easier time sleeping. There was no dark to spawn nightmares, no dark shadows to see flashes of his past in. With the light, he'd finally get some rest.
As Wynn entered the hall and walked past the doors of the other student rooms, he gave lick to his lips. He hadn't had anything to drink in a while and he was parched. He wanted his hot cocoa and that was back at his dorm room way across campus. He didn't have any shoes on, just his bare feet, and before he left he had given back Mica's woolen socks. So, there he was, small and tired, his shoulders slumped and his peeling hands stuffed in his jacket pockets. He didn't expect or even see Nash rushed out of his door and into him.

The pumpkin head didn't expect to run into someone the moment he exit his new room but was mindful enough to keep his footing, helping the other student as well by holding him up. His bundle of letters, however, were less fortunate and clattered to the floor with a thump. "Are you alright?" Nash asked concerned for the student first before worrying over his letters. He made sure Wynn was okay before he turned to gather the bundle and hold them securely in his grasp.
By this time he took a good look at Wynn and had all but forgotten his task of mailing off some letters. The poor thing looked completely disheveled. No shoes and no socks for that matter, red puffy sleepless eyes... his hair was a bit messed... he just didn't look his best. "Um.. if you'd like I could help you if you need." He wasn't sure what to help with but maybe a piggy back to wherever he was going, it just didn't seem proper to run around in this chilly weather without shoes or socks. He could easily catch cold. He waited for the other student to reply before deciding on his own.

Wynn felt the body of another student collide into him and then hold him up. He blinked wildly, trying to get his gaze into focus as he turned his head and stared up with his amber eyes into the face of a pleasant looking student with hair the color of carrots. He fought to get his legs underneath him and when he did, he weakly tried to straighten out his clothes. He realized then, in the presence of another student, that he must look terrible. Out of the corner of his eye, he watched as the other student leaned down to gather a pile of letters that he had dropped in the collision.
"Nn...I am okay," Wynn Darbinian muttered, letting his arm graze across his face as he wiped at his eyes, "Sorry...Sorry..." And then the Inuk heard an offering that seemed both too good to be true, and embarrassing at the same time. Help? Wynn had been asking for so much help lately, from Micajah and others. He was hesitant and dispassionate towards the idea of asking for more help on the premise that it would make him feel more weak, like a lame seal with only one arm.
However...It was still snowing outside and the ground must still be covered with ice...
"I do not need help," Wynn said weakly in his thick accent, trying to straighten his back and fix his hair. As he did that, his tired beleaguered eyes easily belied his weariness.

With a sigh he secured his pack of letters and knelt down turning his head to look to Wynn. "I won't help. I'm only assisting until you lead me to where you need to be and then I'll let it go." He hoped he wasn't being too forceful but he couldn't forgive himself if he just walked away.
"I may be heading the way you need. You're feet should be cold and on this floor you're sure to get a chill. Let me assist until then." Still knelt down he waited for the other to take his offer of a piggy back. He wasn't very tall but with how small Wynn seemed Nash assumed he might be able to carry him with little problems. "Please..."

Wynn raised his head slightly, as if that would do anything to help his pride, as he eyed the student who so kindly offered his aid. He did this without even knowing Wynn, without even knowing the Inuk's name! As much as Wynn wanted to decline this stranger's offer and walk proudly over ice and snow to his dorm room, Wynn was almost positive that he didn't have the strength or will to argue past this student's determination. He could feel his feet numbing against the cold and he Only for today, Wynn told himself, would he allow himself to lean on any more shoulders. After this, Wynn would have to make himself stronger! He was Inuit.
But for now...Wynn nodded his head wearily and let his shoulders slump, "Student dorms," he said in a soft voice, wiping his peeling hands on his pin-striped pajamas. He lifted his voice again in his thick accent, "...You know me not. Why?"

Nash sighed glad to finally move a step forward in this situation. He gave a soft shrug of his shoulder however at Wynn's question. The boy's accent was cute and made Nash give a light giggle his cheeks puffing out in response. "It is the right thing to do. I would not feel right leaving you here to venture around in such a state. Besides you look as if you would do the same for me if our situation was reversed." He chuckle kindly then smiled again. "And by the way my name is Seibehn Nash, I prefer my family name, Nash, most call me this. Now that I've introduced myself how about you're name, it's only fair." He smiled again seeming to do a lot more of that as of late, which he didn't mind so much over his usual brooding self. It was nice to get rid of a burden and live a little.

Wynn thought about that statement for a moment. He would, he supposed. He would definitely do the same thing if they switched places and were in each other's boots. He gave a shrug of his slim shoulders, moving his hands to more securely button his jacket closed. He listened as the other spoke and he stored away Seibehn's name into his head, tiredly moving some bangs out of his face as he tried to get the last buttons. When he was done buttoning his jacket, the other was done with his introductions and Wynn took that moment to take a breath and tiredly recall his own name.
"Seibehn Nash", he repeated carefully, making sure that he got his tongue wrapped around the other's title, "I am called Wynn Darbinian."

"Wynn." He spoke the boys name softly. "It's nice to meet you." With that he gave a soft shrug of his shoulder. "Come on and hop on I'll piggy back you to the student dorms. It's not a problem..." he hoped it wouldn't be for Wynn but anyone would find such and offer embarassing. Even he would have been apposed to someone carrying him too but eventually the situation would win out over his pride. "I'll try to hurry so no one sees us." he said as an after thought, it was the best he could offer, no since having silly rumors flying around over a simple misunderstanding.

"Nice to meet you too."
Wynn watched as the other student turned around and lowered himself down on crouched legs. Pursing his lips tiredly, Wynn glanced back over his shoulder where Mica's room lay a couple doors away. One thing after another...At this rate, Wynn wasn't going to get any stronger...He was just staying put where he was, leaning on others. He had learned to survive against the wilderness of the Alaskan frontier, he was strong when it came to that, but not here. He was weak.
Swallowing his pride, albeit with some difficulty, the small Inuk tiredly took the few barefooted steps forward to climb onto Nash's back. He tiredly laid his arms around the other student's shoulders before he mumbled a weary-sounding, "Thank you."

Nash waited patiently for Wynn to situate himself comfortably on his back. Once he was certain it was okay, he lifted off the ground giving a quick jostle to better grip the boy. "Alright we're going now." He announced taking a few test steps before he was comfortable with an even natural stride. For the most part Nash was confident in himself Wynn was none too surprising a light boy.
Walking along in silence for a moment, Nash made it down the hall and to the doors that would lead outside. It was quite a jaunt over but hopefully he'd moved fast enough so Wynn wouldn't suffer the cold for too long. "Where are you from?" He asked suddenly best to get the boy's mind off being cold and he didn't want him to get too drowsy while in the chilly air. "You have an accent I've never heard before... it's really nice." He offered as a compliment with a smile on his lips though missed by their current positions.

The dark-skinned boy tightened his grip around the other's neck as Nash lifted himself onto his feet and started out of the Magic Dorms. The cold greeted them with an enthusiastic burst of frigid air as they pushed their way through the doors and Wynn, despite his comfort with the freezing temperatures, gave a great shudder. He could feel the cold n** at his bare toes as they started across the frozen campus and the air went straight through his jacket and pin-striped pajamas. Perhaps it was good that Nash had offered to help him cross the icy concrete of the school's campus. He was sure that he would've had to thaw his legs in a tub of warm water when he got back to his dorm room if he had decided to refuse the other boy's good intentioned help.
Pressing his face to Nash's shoulder to escape the wind chill, the youth gave a reply to the other boy's questions, "I am Inuk. From Inuit in Alaska." He said and he turned the question back around at Nash, "You?"
There wasn't much else that he could say, but somehow, Wynn felt like he didn't say enough. He thought over what the other had said and when he realized that what was being given was a compliment, he blurted a hasty, "Thank you."

"Oh me? Um..." Nash went silent for a moment not really used to talking about himself. "America, in Nebraska." He went quiet again walking forward in quick careful steps least they slip on ice and fall. "And you're welcome."
So the Inuk was from Alaska? Nash had never known anyone outside of his own town, it was nice to learn of other places and cultures. "I'm not very good with talking ... but.. my home is in Nebraska City part of Otoe County. It's supposedly the birthplace of Arbor Day. It's a holiday where we plant and care for trees. Though in our small town we have a week long event usually a festival where we give back to the community and plant trees in the process. " He gave a soft jostle to keep Wynn situated on his back comfortably, his movements quick but steady. "I miss being surrounded by all those trees. The air was so fresh and it was always fun to go fishing when papa came back in town. I could drink goat milk for days and mama always seemed to laugh." Stopping for a quick moment he moved to a building allowing the cold wind to give way to a bit of warmth. "Almost there, just down this path. Try to bear it a little longer." He gave a smile then quickly moved forward the student dorms just in their line of vision.
"What about you? You're home and the people you live with, what's it like back home?" This was the best distraction he knew plus he couldn't help being curious about the other student. A full year at the school slacking off and he'd only met a few. With more coming in every year it was becoming a personal task to understand each individual and know who to trust... somewhere down the line they would all have to rely on one another. Better to get formalities out of the way now.

Wynn listened closely to Nash, making sure that his head was tilted enough to hear the other boy's words over his shoulder. As the other described his home, a city that would plant trees and celebrate the verdure lush of the land around them, Wynn struggled to imagine. While he dreamed of pines and evergreens, the Inuk was no less impressed by Nash's home town. In fact, Wynn was almost jealous. How must it have been to live in an area with so many trees! Tall trees, everywhere, fresh air that didn't hurt to inhale it into one's lungs...Wynn adored his own homeland, almost too much for it to be healthy, but there was a part of him that wanted to experience "Nebraska City" and love it as much as Nash apparently did.
"Must be pretty," Wynn said softly, his eyes still locked in imagining the other student's tree-filled home. He was jostled again and the slight movement made Wynn feel the bite of the cold again, ripping him away from his daydreaming to the cold reality.
Giving a shudder, the young Inuk tightened his grip around Nash's shoulders and listened to him question his own homeland. "My home?" he echoed. Well, how else could he describe his homeland other than, "Cold. Very cold. All the time. I lived alone. But the Bentleys helped me. My home had ice. No trees. Just ice and stone. We lived near ocean and hunted seals, caribou, whale. There were mountains, all white. Like bone. My village was small. But we were all Inuit. Just a few who weren't Inuit. And we had dogs. I miss the dogs. I miss the cold. And sky. Big sky."

That was interesting, he thought the boy would be used to weather like this but no one could withstand cold in his state. Feet bear, clothing as thin as a sheet of paper, nope.. no one could withstand cold like this no matter where they originated from. With a quick jaunt down the pathway, the student dorms came into view. "There they are..." he announced moving a bit faster to get the boy out of such harsh cold.
"You're home sounds beautiful by the way." Nash was a bit slow at times but he tried, "I'm not familiar with snow on that level but it does snow where I'm from. To live in a place where it's constantly covered like that must be hard..." He couldn't begin to imagine. As much fun as it was to make snowmen and snow angels it was not fun to have a continuous winter. "You're lucky to have dogs though, I've never had a dog of my own." Truth be told his mother was against small animals and rodents. Only the farm animals they did have and that wasn't much by far.
The student dorms were finally upon them by this point. Nash moved faster opening the door and quickly moving inside to guard against the cold. He sighed in relief giving Wynn a quick glance form over his shoulder. "Where is your room? I can take you there from here, the floor is cold and I'd feel better knowing you're back in your room and warmed up."
