The day had started off right, or so the young lion had thought when she had opened her eyes to her stepsister Hyena being gone already by daybreak.
She normally had no problems with Esperanza, but lately Esperanza had begun to be quite the mischevious little devil, and though it was right upVal's alley.. She did not really think that it was what the once cute hyena pup would turn out to be.
She gave a little grin at that, knowing that Esper was indeed older than herself, but that didnt mean much.. Val knew she had aloto f knowledge in that little skull of hers. After all, once she had been lost from her family, she hadlived on her own for days before Geheim had found her wondering around, hungry and days away from death.
But she was okay now, happy, healthy, and it was mostly her faultnow that she was older. She was learning to hunt all on her own, and she had also learned to track a scent on her own the other day.
Speaking of hunting, her belly was beginning to rumble.

 Nkosazana normally didn't wander too far from her family, but she was a growing girl and curiosity burned like a fire within her. She had watched her mother hunt often enough, and her young body contained the energy and inclination to learn to hunt for herself now.
She had set off away from her brothers and sisters eager to see what she could bring back on her own. Her paws skimmed the ground, and she found herself trying to flex all her muscles. She nipped a bit at the air in practice as well, finally she came to what seemed a suitable spot to start her hunt.
The black female crouched low to earth and slunk forward a bit in this manner. Her bright ruby red eyes scanned everything trying to select where her prey might lie.

The cub smiled as she saw the other cub, crouching low to the earth. She normally wouldnt have spotted something crouching so low to teh earth, but the grasses were divided where the cubs body was moving, and it was slightlyobvious tot he standing cub.
She smileda bit, flicking her red tipped tail and crouching low herself.
She was a playful one, always ready to cause pranks and mischief.. And when she saw this oppurtunity of tackling, she always took it.
Sneaking up slowly tot he other cub, Val smiled, before letting out a loud 'BOO', before pouncing ontop of the other little female and then pushed herself away, stating at the grey cub with a grin.
"Hi!"

Noksazana let out a gasping snarl and rolled into a defensive position before realizing she had been tackled by another lion no older then herself. A seemingly friendly lioness at that, she thought as she looked her over. Her white and black tail flicked out behind her before she offered a tentative smile.
"Hello...I don't suppose you've spotted any prey worthier then I about?"
She rather hoped the white and red female hadn't scared off any potential meals, for she was starting to feel the bite of hunger. Granted, she wasn't certain she actually could catch anything substantial, but she could try.
"Sorry, I'm Nksoazana, you can call me zana, who are you?" She peered at the other female curiously, ruby eyes gazing into their reflection.

With how quickly the other lioness responded, she felt sure that if she had not jumped at the right time, she could have been bitten. She was suddenly happy for her quick movements and cat-like reflexes.

She sat upon the earth, her tail zipping this way and that, while she scanned the area. She lived around here, so she knew the area rather well.. She knew that little hoards of mice lived underground not far from where they were.
They burrowed tunnels under the dirt to protect them from the sun, and then they expose themselves at night.
But if you knew where to dig, they were like delivered pizzas.
"I know of some field mice, if you like that kind of thing."
She said with a grin, standing uponcemore, and walking to the other female, with a nod.
"My name is Valenera..I guess that if I had friends, Id ask them to call me Val."
She said with a quick nod.
Realizing that she never got out much, almost made her feel alittle down.

"Well...field mice sound okay for a snack...but I was hoping for something more meal worthy. Maybe if we tried hunting together we could find something that would satisfy both our appetites Val?" She looked at the other lioness hopefully, it was obvious that alone field mice were the best she was going to get, perhaps together they could actually bring something down.
She flexed her black claws against the earth, trying not to show any eagerness. A question almost slipped her tongue, for she was more curious if the other female did have any friends. Come to think of it, she herself was rather friendless, except that she had never noticed such a thing for she had her whole family to support and love her. As for play, well she didn't do much of that, she preferred to sit quietly and examine the world around her, observe and learn from her elders and such.

She looked out once more, then looked back at the red orbs of the lionness cub.
"Well I suppose we could bring down a rabbit..or something like that..Anything bigger I think were getting into the land of impossibility."
She said with a grin.
She flicked her tail, and ear flicking as well as a bug landed against it. The sky was beginning to be high noon, the hotest time of day, and the bugs hjust annoyed her.
But the rumble in her belly made her whine.
"Okay but whatever we do, we gotta do it fast."

She grinned and hopped to her feet content that the other young female had agreed to work with her. Granted she was right in the idea that a rabbit was about their skill level, still there had to be a way to ensure they both came out with a good meal. She scanned the area around them then nodded softly to herself in thought for a moment.
"Alright Val I've got it! You sneak around the area, nice and low, and when you spot a rabbit to flush it out from behind. I'll wait infront and when you scare it towards me I'll scare it back to you! Between us when he gets startled and runs to the side we'll pounce and make an easy job of it!" She nodded with assurance.
She had seen plenty of adults hunt large prey in this fashion, surely the same principles would apply here. "and then we'll dig up some field mice to go with our nice juicy rabbit." She licked her fangs at the thought of the meal hopefully to come.

Val smiled with a mischevious grin all her own, and nodded, before taking off around the rabbit hole, and burrying herself in a bush, peeking out with bright red eyes.
It wasnt long before the longeared creature had thought itself free from danger, because its little nose peeked out from a hole in the side of a large termite mound.
She grinned, before waiting for him to come all teh way out.
When she was right where she wanted him to be, she gave a Rawr and bolted after him, chasing him out.
Right towards the maw of the other lioness.

Nkosazana lay crouched low in the grasses waiting, she could feel the tiny vibrations in the earth as the rabbits feet thumped against the earth. Her muscles bunched as she prepared to spring a small pool of saliva forming in her mouth. Her ruby eyes narrowed as the rabbit came at her and she pounced her claws digging into the smaller creature.
"Gotcha! Val, val come quick! We got it!" She kept the creature pinned down, her claws latched into it. She longed to rip into it, but felt it would only be fair to allow her team mate to take the first bite.
Still the wriggling creature was not going to escape her deadly grasp and slowly it's thrashing subsided.

Val wasnt far behind the rabbit, and when her new friend grabbed ahold of it, she went for the killing bite. Being as little as they are, neither of them were big enough to hold down the struggling creature and deliver the fatal bite.
So she decided she'd help out a bit.
As the blood rushed into her mouth, she let go, looking up at the other lioness with a small grin.
They had done it!
Now that was team work. Val raised her head high, happy to see the lifeless animal lying dead against the ground.
"We are quite a team!"

She grinned and nodded at her new friend pleased with the result of their teamwork and eager for the sharing of the meal. She ripped one of the back legs and tossed it up before catching it in her mouth.
"A meal worth sharing." She moved to lay down beside the rabbit her stomach rumbling and ready for the meal.
Nkosazana was not used to company, friendship, she had her many siblings but remained quiet and in the background. She sought her parents attention once in a while but was happily solitary.

Valenera smiled as she grabbed onto a back leg and ripping as well, dropping it between her paws, and nibbling on it.
She loved being around others, just sometimes she was a bit more than most could handle.
She was happy to have company, things could get so boring around here.
"Yes, Lets share."
She flicked her tail, and looked back up from her meal after another bite.
"Im glad that I found you today!"
She smiled, munching on her own side.
Then she looked at the sky.

Nkosazana was normally quiet and reserved, the total opposite to Vale's apparent enthusiasm and constant zest, yet somehow she wasn't bothered by the differences in their personalities.
She offered the other female a smile and nodded as they shared their meal.
"I'm glad I found you too Val, it's nice to think...we can be friends?"
Nkosazana had never made an offer of friendship before, it left her feeling mildly vulnerable. She had her family and that was about it, that had always been enough, but this experience had shown her that sometimes one needed a little external company.

"Oh yes, lets be friends."
She said with a giggle.
"We can be hunting buddies, we;re just that good."
She said with an eyebrow waggle.
"But its getting dark now."
She said, looking back at the sky and then at the little female.
She was tired, and it as time to sleep.
"Come and see me again sometime?"
