She had finally left the comfort of home. Starting a brand new day, with the sun warm upon her back. The days were warm, the nights were cold, she had grown used tot he weather here in the desert. She tried to stay near her father though..She was free willed and liked to travelk, but at the end of the day, she was happy to feel safe when she came home at night.
Father had told her that now that she was of age, she was to watch out for all the males and avoid all advances. But she didnt understand what he meant by that.. She never really saw many species, let alone others of her own species.
She had been taking a good morning stroll, when her mouth became dry and she realized that water was going to be needed.
Luckily she knew a small watering hole that was nearby, and it was out of the way for the most part.. Not much around it by way of large animals.
She darted over to the waters that looked murky, fresh, and burried her muzzlein its deliciousness, before sighing a great sigh of contement.

Dubu hummed as he walked back to home, another artifact left behind by the hoo-mans clutched carefully in his jaws. It was a necklace thise time, silver and garnets...and too small for his large, shaggy frame. But perhaps he could trade it to a lion for a meal. Dubu could hunt just fine on his own, but lions could take down more, giving him food for two or three days. Or perhaps he could trade it with a tale-spinner for knowledge.
Ah, knowledge...he did so enjoy learning new things. They were as succulent as any fresh kill. His thoughts were disrupted by a strange scent. Dubu blinked and pressed onwards. A female? Not one of his sisters, the scent was too young. When he finally reached home and saw her, he chuckled.
Likely just beginning a life on her own, if her age was any indication. He put the necklace down. "Not often I get visitors. And who might you be, miss?" His tone was infinitely polite...growing up outnumbered by girls had taught him proper manners towards them.

She hadnt been expecting to meet anyone new, but she was a sucker for an animalwith manners.. Her mother had always told her to be kind and proper, so someone like her made her grin a bit.
"Hello there!" She said, walking over to him, where he had apparently set upa den. He had been living here. She had walking onto his lands. If he hadnt been kind when she approached, she'd almost be nervous about making the larger male angry. But his voice was rough..attractive. Something manly in his words made her shiver a bit, and she was sure that this was what momma meant when she said the word 'Crush.'
"My names Esperanza, sir, what do you go by?" She asked with a smile, and her pink eyes looking him over slightly before meeting with his.

Dubu smiled kindly. "I'm Dubu'mwana. Though most I've met just call me Dubu." He sat, looking her over. Yup. Likely her first time out and about. She looked just a little younger than he'd thought at first.
"So what brings you to my home?" Perhaps someone had heard he gathered knowledge and trinkets? If so, he was willing to part with some trinkets for more knowledge. After all, knowledge lasted longer than mere possessions.

She looked to the water then back at Dubu with a smile. "I was thirsty, I had been walking around, and knew of the perfect littlewatering hole.."
She smiled, before blushing a bit and looking at the ground.
"Course, it looks like I wasnt the only one who knew of it.. Someone else actually lives here." She laughed, her voice a light ringing sound which was gentle and kind. Her eyes were mischevious, but the voice of her mother blessed her lips.
"My name is Esperanza, or Esper, to those I meet as well.. Itsapleasure to meet you Dubu." She said, looking around the area.
"You made a nice home for yourself."

"I will not begrudge you a drink, if you're worried about that, Esperanza. What sort of host would I be if I did that?" He chuckled and nodded to the watering hole itself. What sort of host, indeed. Perhaps he would be able to convince her to stay and talk? She had a lovely voice he wouldn't mind listening to...and that was high praise from Dubu. Even if it wasn't voiced.
"I've done what I can. It is not as good as my parents' home...but until I have my own family, I think it shall do..."

She had no intention of leaving yet, or for awhile anyway. She had never met a non-relative hyena before, and she was enjoying the experience. But she smiled as he offered the drink of water, that she smiled, and offered a bow of sorts.
Leaning over to the edge, she took a few laps of the water until her thirst was quenched.
"Oh yes, Ive noticed nothing I find is as good as my parents home." She said with a smile. She knew that too well. She had left her parents care a few days ago, departing with tears and well wishes.
"But yes, it's a very nice little home for someone on his own.. Or even if you did have a family." She said with a kind nod.

He couldn't help but laugh cheerfully. "I suppose it's because our parents surround us with love." Now...Dubu could be realistic, but at heart...well, he rather liked the ideals of romance. "Love seems to make everything seem a little better...It smooths over the little flaws and keeps everyone smiling." Flawed logic, perhaps...but Dubu knew that. Emotion did not always follow a logical pattern.
The shaggy hyena would have blushed if he could. Such praise from a female! "Thank you..." His calm smile was full of the thanks his words conveyed. "I'm glad you think so."

Esperanza had never felt romance. She had felt nothing as she had never met someone of her own species..at least that had not been related to her. She smiled, her cheeks turning a stained pink color.
"I think I love the idea of love." She sighed, as if daydreamingly talking to another girl.
"Something about it seems so.. Nice." She said, smiling down and looking at him with a nod.
"So Dubu, what do you do around here?"

Dubu rather liked this girl. She was curious, and kind, and full of life. There was nothing false or fake about her. And she was rather pretty. Nothing like the earthy beauties his sisters were...Esperanza resembled a spirit more.
"I rather like the idea as well. And I look forward to the day it comes and finds me." After all, his parents had told him, you don't go looking for love. Real love always found one when they least expected it.
"I gather interesting looking things, especially things left behind by hoo-mans. And I gather knowledge." Dubu loved getting a new piece of knowledge more than finding a new hoo-man thing. "Did you know there are creatures out there called Gods? They look like lions, but take many shapes."

She smiled, and widened her eyes. She loved hearing new things! Learning was such a great thing to her. She shook her head, her mane flying about her head.
"No way! Ive never heard of Gods.." She squealed, her little tail flicking in circles.
She sobered though, as to not completely scare him with her excitement at what she had just learned.
"Im sorry, I tend to get overexcited I think.." She chuckled, and her eyes gleamed.

Dubu nodded. "There as as many Gods out there as there are concepts in this world. Trees, water, clouds...you name it, it likely has a God." He chuckled. "I don't mind...it's good to be excited about learning. I myself love learning new things."

"I never woulda known that!" She said, her eyes widening. Father had never been a hyena to say 'Respect the Gods.' Geheim was rather a mystery in himself, as that was indeed was his name meant.
"Thats neat though, I think it makes things interesting."
She nodded her head happily, and waved a paw.
"It was great meeting you! Thank you for the conversation." She answered, and began off on her way. Ready for another adventure.
