I am sure some of you if not all now the pain it can be to work for the general public. Either call center, fast food, or movies there is always a story of low tolerence. I was curious to here your guys' stories to make me feel less of a grouch. I will start off:

I work at a call center that sells very expensive items that really are not marketed for the minimum waged and under. A lady orders a $200 two slice toaster and yells at me how ridiculous $22 in shipping is and demands it to be free or given a coupon.

I worked at Sears men's department. One time I had a lady come in to return a shirt that she purchased. Well, she purchased it a month ago, from the clearance rack, which means no returns. I told her the item was no longer in the system but I could refund $5 for it, which I wasn't suppossed to do anyway, because clearance is all no return. She got mad at me and complained she paid $20 for it and demanded to speak to my manager. So I call him in, he looks at the shirt, looks at the receipt and sees it was clearance. He just turns to her and goes "We can't take that back, you bought it ove a month ago, on clearance."
She's really mad now and tells the manager that I was willing to refund $5 for it and he simply says "Well, I'm not."
I had to seriously resist laughing at her now. She throws the shirt back in her back and storms out knocking over two racks as she goes.
Moral of this is that complaining for the manager will not make it better for you.

My manager is awsome. I get these customers who just want to complain to complain I swear. My manager will tell them "I will not explain why we do it that because you will never understand" Which is sweet to challenge a customers intelligence. Then they say "I understand, I just need you to explain it" and my manager answers "I will not justify my actions because it will not change anything, if this is all you are requesting then our conversation is over" blaugh This one lady he talked too was being a pain when it came to return policies and he answered her saying "You have only these two options.Choose one or the other now or get off the phone because we are running out of time and I have things to do."

I was working for Wal-Mart and walked through the toy dept near the bike's and heard a couple complaining about something, so I stop and asked if I could help with anything, and they told me that they asked another associate to look for a bike, about 15 minutes prior, I offered to go in to the back and help look for the bike. I got to the area in the back that holds the bikes and the assembler was busy putting a bike together, and asked me what I was doing and I told him that I was looking for a bike, and which one, he said "Oh! I was suppose to bring that one out to a customer 15 minutes ago." I asked him if he realized that the customers pays his pay checks, He exclaimed "No they don't Wal-Mart does" which I explained to him that if Wal-Mart didn't have customers then he wouldn't have a job, and walked out to the toy dept with the bike in tow, I all most got to the customers when the assembler decided that the customer was more important than the bike he was assembling for the display rack.

Moral of this tale: customers pays your paycheck your business's name may be on them, but if it wasn't for the people that buy that stuff that's being sold you wouldn't have a job. wink
