Earlier this night, the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Arizona Cardinals by a score of 27-23 in Super Bowl XLIII. The game was a thriller, with a very exciting fourth quarter. With this win, the Steelers lead the NFL with 6 Super Bowl championships.

I'll do a small version of my breakdown for Super Bowl XLIII.

I see the game starting out pretty slow. The Cardinals will be nervous, and the Steelers will be anxious. They should exchange field goals in a close battle for field position. The middle of the game will share a few touchdowns, and then the game will end slow. The team that wins time of possession should win, and they'll want to have the ball in the final five minutes.

Cardinals offense vs. Steelers defense: I don't see Edge or Hightower doing much against the tough Steelers defense, so the Cardinals must get Arrington involved. I think that the Steelers will do a pretty good job against Fitzgerald with double teams and and isolation, but Boldin and Breaston will open up, and get some good looks. The Steelers need to be physical with Larry Fitzgerald at the like, to bump him off routes and timing. I like the patience of Warner, as a cool veteran. He should be able to call a good game. The deciding factor in this game is if the Arizona offensive line can give Kurt the time he needs. If so, the Cardinals have a great chance at winning.

Steelers offense vs. Cardinals defense: Willie Parker will have a pretty tough time. Parker and Moore will thrive most on counters and screen passes. The Steelers offensive line hasn't done too well this season, but they must keep Roethlisberger untouched. Big Ben has proven that he can move around the pocket and buy time, but the Cardinals have a quick front seven. I think that they will constantly be putting pressure on Ben, so screens and short passes are his best bet. This means that the Steelers are praying for a healthy Hines Ward. I don't like the Steelers' chances at stretching the field, so they will have a slow but efficient offensive production. Pittsburgh probably won't do too well in the air. Rodgers-Cromartie and Rolle are playing at an extremely high level in the playoffs, and are closing the season well. They should be able to keep up with whatever comes at them.

...So here's what I think will happen, position-wise. Kurt Warner should do pretty well. Big Ben won't do too well. The Cardinals RBs will make a few big plays, but won't control the game well. The Steelers RBs will play efficiently and productive. The Cardinals WRs and TEs will get open, and make some big plays after the catch. The Steelers WRs and TEs will play is safe a short, and will occasionally move the chains. The Cardinals offensive line will have some trouble, but will keep Warner pretty safe. The Steelers offensive line should will have a tough time, and Arizona will get to Big Ben pretty often. The Cardinals defensive line will do well against the run, but need LB blitzes to create pressure. The Steelers defensive line will control the middle of the field, and keep the opposing runners at bay, while creating pressure. The Cardinals LBs will do very well against the run and at putting pressure, but if they bit too much, then screens and mismatch short passes will cost them. The Steelers LBs will again control the middle of the field, but could get beaten if they commit too much to the long pass. The Cardinals secondary will do a very good job against the pass, and create turnovers. The Steelers will do a pretty good job, but will focus too much on Fitzgerald and get beaten by inside passes to Boldin and streaks to Breaston. On special teams, both kickers are very good. Arizona has the edge in punting. The Cardinals can do more on kick returns. The Steelers can do more on punt returns.

My prediction = The Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Arizona Cardinals 24-20 in Super Bowl XLIII

I think that the Cardinals are playing with heart and destiny. The Steelers are playing with toughness and mental preparation. I think that the Steelers defense will score a TD on a late game turnover, and seal the game. The Cardinals defense will play very well, and their offense should do alright...but the Steelers defense is extremely strong, and their offense is pretty balanced.

I will be rooting for the Cardinals, but I think that the Steelers will win.

Well...I was really close on my prediction and breakdown! Just a three point increase on both sides, but the Pittsburgh Steelers still beat the Arizona Cardinals by four.

It was a great game. Very good Super Bowl XLIII. I wanted the Cardinals to win, but congrats to the Steelers.

Boo!
Hahaha, I was really excited when the Cardinals made their last touchdown, but immediatly right after that I was like.. .". . .big ben is getting the ball back. . "
I wasn't surprised that they made it I really wanted Arizona to win because they really did play hard, especially against the Steelers.

It was a really good game over all, I missed the 3rd quarter and beginning of the forth.

Congrats to the steelers.

I was right to stick to my score 32-28(even though it wasn't going to be that score.

...It wasn't really a repeat thread...

This one is a "Steelers winning XLIII" topic, while the other one was a pre-Super Bowl discussion...
