Natural light was excellent for drawing by. The park was an excellent place to do quick life studies. At least, that's what Mute would claim if he'd been asked; he was a little disappointed that nobody had. To be fair, the white Audio had spent about half an hour actually sketching as various people of various species passed by on the path beside the grassy field. Now, however, he'd given up on it; he lay on his back, wings spread, pencils and erasers on the ground beside him. His notebook was closed on his chest, his fingers laced together across it. His tail moved haphazardly now and then, and he appeared to be sleeping in the spring sun.

Spring had already arrived. The sun was shining brightly, bathing the newly-budding flowers with its warm and inviting glow. It felt like the perfect day to relax, to simply take a breather and enjoy the remainder of the weekend before school kicked back into gear. Of course, Rocketto was more than grateful for the break, it felt wonderful to soak up the sunshine as he strolled leisurely through the park.
His deep-blue speckled fur was ruffled softly as a crisp breeze blew past, but the young Audio enjoyed every moment of it, welcoming its touch. Rocketto kept walking, his paws squishing lightly against the blades of grass. He finally came to a stop as he settled at a park bench, gazing up at the clouds in pure contentment. Slowly but surely, his eyes wandered downhill at all the green before him, when the Audio noticed one furry lump of white right smack in the middle of the park. Rocketto couldn't help but chuckle quietly to himself, staring intently at the snoozing "white lump" before him. He smiled, it was only but a few feet away, and before he knew it Rocketto caught himself whispering a quiet "Hello?" right beside the snow white Audio.

One pale ear twitched; one blue eye opened to peer lazily at whoever was addressing him. A rather colorful male of his own species; he appeared to be younger than Mute, and wore a friendly smile. Mute opened his other eye and propped himself up on his elbows, turning his head for a curious look at the other. "Hello," he answered, amiable enough. It was a nice day, and he was in a good mood, and he hadn't had a sane conversation for some time.

Rocketto blinked. He was half surprised that the milky-toned Audio had actually heard his friendly whisper, and the other half surprised at himself for greeting a stranger at random. It wasn't like him to do things on impulse, but the day was just too perfect...! In any case, he was glad to have the company. What's a perfect day without a friend, after all?
"Well good morning, Snow White. Sleep well?" Rocketto remarked sarcastically, but in a good-natured tone. "Hehe, sorry, I couldn't help but notice you sleeping in the middle of the grass. I didn't disturb you too much, did I?"

"I was checking my eyelids for cracks," Mute replied, his expression solemn, but amusement glittering in his eyes. He sat up the rest of the way, putting his notebook aside. "It's best done in full sun; leaks are more noticeable." He angled an ear at the bright Audio. "Snow White, eh. Sorry, no poisoned apples here. - Nice day to be in the park," he added.

"So that's what you were doing?" Rocketto replied, as if to play along. "Hmm, I better check mine then. You know, just in case." He added almost seriously. Almost, seriously.
With that in mind, the male flopped backwards; allowing his arms to fall behind his head, and folding a single leg over the other one. His smile faded, his eyes closed. "Mmm, mm'hmm... Hm!" One eyelid popped open, peering at the Audio opposite of him. "Yes, no leaks here. I think I'm safe, Snowy." Rocketto teased, that same lighthearted grin returning to his face as he winked at his newfound friend.
"Yeah, very nice." His head nodded slightly in agreement, as he stared up at the clouds. His eyes wandered again, and Rocketto's gaze finally arrived at the notebook resting across from him. "You a student, p'raps?" He asked curiously, assuming it to be a study guide of some sort.

Mute chuckled at the younger male's willingness to play along. "Oh, good. I hear it can be a serious affliction." He stretched his legs out and leaned comfortable back on his hands, looking up to the clouds as well, absently and automatically picking out shapes in their contours.
"Student of life, maybe," he answered, glancing back to the bright Audio. "Graduated a couple years ago." Seeing that the other was looking at his notebook, he explained, "I was sketching. Good place for life studies." He waved vaguely at the path that ran beside the field they sat in.

"You don't say?" Rocketto laughed lightly, his gaze still fixed on the notebook. He shifted his eyes towards the other male, studying his appearance as if trying to determine just how much older he was from himself. The two of them were about the same size anyway, maybe Rocketto being the slightly taller one? He wasn't sure, as he hadn't seen the light-furred Audio stand at full height yet. In any case it couldn't be more than a few years difference, he figured.
"I'm only on my third year, maybe another year or two before I graduate."
With that Rocketto allowed himself to sit up, carefully placing a cautious paw on the sketchbook. "Mind if I take a look? Or is it top secret?" He asked, genuinely interested. He did love art afterall, and this snow-white Audio had certainly caught his eye.

Mute might be a few inches shorter, but he was clearly finished growing and out of his teens, perhaps two or three years difference between them. "What are you majoring in?" he asked, turning his head to look curiously at the other Audio.
He made an expansive gesture. "Feel free. Nothing particularly interesting, no plans to take over the world, no blueprints for orbital lasers, nothing like that." He smiled. If Rocketto looked inside the notebook, he would find it about half full, mostly filled with energetic, spare sketches, interspersed with the occasional few pages of detailed figure studies or still lives. Here and there, scattered among the other sketches, an abstract doodle or a fantasy creature hid.

"Art, of course. Mostly graphic design." Rocketto replied casually, proceeding to pick up the notebook now that he'd been granted permission. "I take it you majored in Art, also?" he asked, carefully flipping through each page with peaking interest.
"These are really... Amazing, you know, the anatomy and everything. I like your fantasy drawings the best." His grin grew wider, thoroughly amused at the contents of this sketchbook. Are these the kind of things that run through his mind? Rocketto thought as he examined each piece; for someone of pure white on the outside, this guy certainly had a colorful imagination. Everything inside was spectacular, pleasing to the eye down to the very last detail.
"Oh! By the way, I never caught your name," Rocketto added suddenly, pausing a moment to look at the Audio across from him. "My name's Rocketto, s'pleasure to make your acquaintance." He went on as he stood up, reaching out a friendly paw to help his new friend up along with him.

"Illustration. I do freelance work now. Starving artist and all that," Mute chuckled. At the compliments, his ears backed a little, though he was still smiling; he looked almost embarrassed. "Thanks. Nothing special, really," he demurred. "Got to keep in practice."
"Mute," he answered, gathering up his pencils and notebook and accepting the hand up. "Pleasure's all mine, I'm sure. Going anywhere?"

"You're very welcome, Mute." Rocketto responded, chuckling lightly as he noticed Mute shy away from the compliments. He then helped his friend upward, and at full height realized his assumption was correct about Mute being slightly shorter than himself. Only by a few inches, though.
"Well, since I'm practically half-asleep from lying around in the park so long, I thought I'd stop for some coffee on my way home. Care to join me, Snow Wh-- I mean, Mute?" He winked at him teasingly, a playful gleam in his eye. "My treat."

Mute glanced slightly up, noting the height difference with mild annoyance. He was a little short, and he knew it. However, it wouldn't be fair to take it out on Rocketto, and anyway, he was pretty much resigned to it by now. He'd been sensitive about it at first, but eventually he'd acknowledged the futility of being offended at genetics. The corner of his mouth quirked in a wry smile.
"Coffee sounds good, Skittles - er, Rocketto," he returned, smirking playfully.

Rocketto couldn't contain his laughter any longer, that "Skittles" comeback was just too much. "Skittles, huh? Good one." He was genuinely amused, the tip of his tail twitching blissfully. Though the young Audio was in college now, he had always kept a good sense of humor. One is -never- too old for a good joke, after all. At least that's how Rocketto felt.
"Mm, do I taste like the rainbow; I wonder?" He added, that same pleasant grin plastered across his face as they walked. He'd already taken a liking to Mute, anyone who could make him laugh like that had already gained bonus points with Rocketto.

"I have no idea what flavor you'd be," Mute answered dryly. He didn't laugh outright, though his eyes warmed at the good reception to his teasing. He looked Rocketto up and down, pretending thoughtfulness. "Tropical mix, maybe." He glanced down at his own white pelt. "D'you suppose I'd be mint, vanilla, or coconut?"
He was enjoying the light banter; he liked this bright Audio already.
