Hey everyone! If you don't know me- I'm obsessed with Abney park. Recently I came across a song called Airship Pirates.
Does anyone know of any High school books of flying pirate ships I could find in the school library? And just in general- any regular Steampunk books I could find in a high school library?

I love Abney Park! Breathe is my favorite of their songs.
I'm not sure of flying pirate ships in books, but high school libraries will probably have The Time Machine by H.G. Wells, he writes sci-fi so a lot of his would probably would be suitably steampunk. I wish I could help more, but that's the only one that comes to mind at the moment. If I find or think of more, I shall inform you.

I'm going to say Jules Verne, as its awesome. I'm attempting to work my way through all his books. Clipper of the Clouds doesnt have that wonderful of an opening though.
also, Airborn, and the rest of that series by..Kenneth Opal, I think the author is. Air Man, by the author of Artemis Fowl is pretty good too.
Not really piraty... , but still good aeronautical books, for sure ^^

i just looked through that list, and i feel that "The Edge Chronicles" needs adding. it is more of a fantasy book with steampunk elements, but it is pretty awesome. the edge chronicles is split into 3 or 4 series of 3 books each, the series' can be read in any order, but i suggest reading "Beyond The Deepwoods, Stormchaser, and Midnight Over Sanctafrax" 1st, as that is the original series, and gives the best intro of "the edge" (the world where all the books are based) Examples of the steampunk side of The Edge Chronicles would be the OLD coverarts of Stormchaser (shows the crew of the main sky galleon in the book) and Cloud Wolf (which shows what Edge Chronicles Sky Galleons look like), and the new coverart of The Winter Knights (which shows the main character in big steampunk style armour). and throughout the 1st series (the ones named in my second paragraph) the main character; Twig, has an obsession with airships and sky pirates. i found 2 series of them in my secondary school, so i daresay that you should be able to find them yourself.

The books I quickly found were Airborn by Kenneth Oppel and 20,000 Leagues under the Sea by Jules Verne
I started Airborn already- But the catalog computer was locked and the line to the librarian was too long to wait in so I picked a name and found a book. I was actually searching for The Time Machine but it wasn't in at the moment I guess.

I already posted this in the book forum, but "The Voyage of the Jerle Shannara" is a good one. It is not a pirate ship, but the group is on an air ship trying to retrive lost "magic" from an ancient city. The begguinning is mostly fantasy, but the ancient city is the very defenition of steampunk. It's mt favorite series after Lord of the Rings. heart

"Zeppelin- The story of light-than-air craft" by: Captain Ernst A. Lehmann (commander of the Hindenburg)

I managed to read a little over 400 pages in like 3 hours. One of the best books I've seen in awhile. The plotline just dragged me in. I was finishing the last 100 pages in my drama class and was having a heart attack.... Tomorrow I'm buying Airborn to have it in my personal library and Skybreaker... Whats the third book called? That money was going to buy me the next Air gear book. Those other two books I will write down right now and look for them. Dunedien- I will look for that too- ... there's a book forum? In here or on regular gaia?

I'm just going to get the first and second book for now- I'm probably going to read Airborn like four more times << That ending- The whole thing on the Aurora just had me gasping all through Drama... *SPOILER FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVEN'T READ THE BOOK YET*: (Highlight below) I was soooo upset when Matt didn't get Junior Sailmaker.... You have no idea. I was fuming.... though... Wasn't it so sad how Bruce died? I hated him but in the end he was okay- and everything.

At first when they spoke of the gunshot- I thought it was a pirate till I looked at the name again. I almost screamed.I freaking hate borders. I can't use my freaking giftcard to buy used books on the freaking website and they don't freaking have the books in store. BORDERS SUCKS. *Edited because of alot of cursing.
