Hima strained her eyes, looking with intent patience at a strip of grass. For several moments nothing happened. And then...
BOING!
Hima pounced, blue paws coming down with youthful energy, but a decided lack of grace. From between her paws came a small, green blur. Hima backed away as it buzzed into her face, swiping at it frenziedly. And it was gone. Again!
Hima huffed, frustrated. She'd been hunting the darn grasshopper for the better part of the morning towards the back of the family den, and still hadn't caught it. How on earth did the thing keep evading her? Hima lifted a paw, and flexed the digits, examining the sharp little claws that slid out. She spent a long time keeping them clean, having been told that sharp claws were necessary for fighting demons. But if she couldn't even catch a dratted grasshopper, how was she going to keep up with a demon?
Maybe that was it! Hima was struck with inspiration. Maybe the grasshopper was a demon! Like a baby demon, or a demon that had transformed itself into a grasshopper to spy on her pride? No wonder she'd had such trouble getting it! Hima felt her fur bristle. How dare it!
Hima renewed her vigil of the grass, looking for any clue as to where the little demon had gone.

Bui hadn't had anything particular in mind when he struck out for the day... which was when he was quite suprised to see his sister doing something. He spent most of his time with his siblings and his mother, and rarely saw them unless they were all together. Interesting to see her out and about and chasing a... something?
"Hima?" He asked, trying to get a little close so that he could get a fresh look at what she was doing. It seemed like she was chasing a grasshopper. Something he had done from time to time... and the buggers were really hard to catch too! Though Hima seemed to be doing pretty well at that particular moment.
He moved up beside her, trying to be as quiet as he could so that he wouldn't startle her. Or at least... wouldn't startle the bug she was trying to catch. "Hima... what are you doing?" He asked, tilting his head to the side as he watched her.
He'd lost sight of the grasshopper.

Hima had been staring with a hunters' intensity at a small patch of grass she'd seen the grasshopper/demon enter, when her brother spoke. She couldn't help it, she jumped, wide-eyed and fur a-bristle.
"Bui!" she scolded, as she carefully backed away from the patch of grass. "I'm in the middle of a very delicate situmation here! Don't sneak up on me!"
Her anger was short lived, though. She could never stay mad very long at BuiBui. Instead, she reached up and pushed his head down into the grass, sinking alongside him. Flattened against the ground, she renewed her vigil while whispering her theory of the demon grasshopper into Bui's ear.

Bui let himself get dragged down. Like Hima, he couldn't stay mad at a sibling very long. Their mother tended to encourage sibling bonding, and with him it had certainly stuck. He did feel especially protective of Hima, even in comparison to everyone else around him. He hadn't meant to frighten her.
"A delicate situation..." He mumbled quietly, listening to Hima's new situation with rapt attention. A demon grasshoppper? Well, if it was really that strong and fast... it was possible right? And Xinavane had never exactly been specific that only lions could be demons. It was entirely possible that it could be a bug as well.
"A spy... yeah, that must be it. It's a demon spy." Bui said, catching on and nodding cooly at the idea, "Do you think mom would be proud of us if we bring her back a demon grasshopper?" He asked, wishing that his visions would catch onto this sort of thing. Usually he was more aware of what the demons were up to. Obviously he had to pay more attention, "We have to get it now."

Hima's eyes shone at the idea of being praised by her Mom. As always, Bui knew exactly what she was thinking. Part of her wondered if it was his ability to See, that let him know. But he'd never said anything about it, and Hima wasn't one to press. She'd been wondering herself why she hadn't seen the grasshopper in a vision earlier. Perhaps the demon had done something?
"I bet she will be! Catching a demon on our own? The whole pride will be proud!" she whispered back to him, glancing at him out of the corner of her eye. Wait a minute... Bui didn't have a green marking on him! Slowly, heart pumping, Hima turned her head for a clear look.
Sitting on her brother's neck, the grasshopper was insolently cleaning one leg. Hima's eyes widened, and she tried to mouth a silent warning to her brother.

Bui could only grin at his sister. She had always bene one of the more calm members of their family, and he liked that about her. They didn't always talk about the important stuff, but he had always trusted her, and his trust had never been an easy thing for anyone outside their family to win over. Even other demon-hunters could make him testy sometimes. But not his family.
"Yeah... we'd have the praise of everyone." Bui grinned, nodding to her, but then he caught her rather frozen motion. Suddenly, his sister seemed a little less interested in the idea of hunting, and more interested in his neck. Which was interesting... but... weird. What was she mouthing at him?
"What is it? Did you..." He stopped moving when he finally figured out what she was trying to tell him. There was something on him, and whatever it was, he couldn't feel it. But there was something on him, or maybe behind him, and she was watching him... "...Can you get it?" He mouthed back to her, trying to search for the demon-bug, but he didn't dare move much more than that.

After repeating the silent words a few times, he got it, and started mouthing something back. It took a few repeats for her, as well. But she finally nodded, very slowly. It was still sitting there! Was it trying to hold him hostage? Ha! The demon should know it was futile! Every member of the pride was ready to give their life to rid the world of the demon scourge!
Slowly, Hima backed away, trying not to make any sudden movements that would cause the demon to act. She squared her hind quarters, tensed the legs muscles like a finely coiled spring, and... SPRANG!
"RRRRRAAAAH!"
Her front paws squarely hit the spot where the grasshopper had previously been. Hima wasn't able to see where it had hopped off to, since momentum sent her tumbling into her brother.
"Augh! I missed!" she exclaimed, frustrated. Her limbs and paws akimbo.

"GAK!" Was about all that Bui managed to get out when his sister pounced on him. He had been expecting something a little more... stealthy maybe, thab being lept upon... but he supposed that it worked just as well. Or would ahve worked if she had managed to kill it. It seemed the sacrifice was for naught, and only managed to knock Bui over.
"Did you see where it went!?" Bui asked, trying to sit back up, but he had been knocked on his back and his own limbs were flailing about as he did his best to try and turn back over. Thus far, the attempt was not going entirely well.
"It was trying to hold me hostage! We have to try and get it before it attacks the pride!" He declared, trying to climb over his sister and see where it had gone. They couldn't let it escape!
"There it is!" He spotted the small bug jump up in the grass only a few inches from them, "Roll! Hima we have to try and roll and squish it!"

Hima's attempts at getting back up only entangled her further with her brother. And as Bui attempted to see where the demon had gone, Hima managed to roll into his hindfoot, knocking the wind out of her stomach. She wheezed and tried to nod her agreement at his prompting.
Holding her paws close to her, Hima squeezed her eyes shut, imagined herself as a porcupine, and began to roll. She had no idea if she was going in the right direction, but her brother had said 'Roll!' and by the gods, she would!

Bui found himself tangled up in his own feet, and when Hima got her wind knocked out by him, his foot was tangled up in her when she began to roll, he was forced flat and dragged along with her, rolling more like an uncomfortable log-roll than a porcupine. The two of them went along at top speed, right over the spot Bui had seen the small green bug.
When they finally stopped moving, Bui managed to untangle himself and stand up, "DID WE GET IT?!" He cried, looking around wildly... but then he saw the creature on his sister's head, looking completely unfazed. "Oh no... Hima don't move!" It seemed that since the demon had failed in capturing him, it had turned on his sister instead!
