I was looking trough some of my cards and I found one of these.
And I'm really confused as to why a person would need a card like that.

Dose anyone know the purpose of this card?

it's a 4/6 beatstick for 4.
until they deal with it, you don't need to play more creatures and just swing.

granted it's not as good if they have a x/5+ blocker or chumps but it's a beast in limited.

Yeah, but you can't play anymore creature spells as long as it's in play.
I guess you could pump it up, but still not being able to play any creatures...
I don't get the point of it.

i know you can't play creatures when it's in play... i can read the card too >_>
you're missing the point of/never played in limited play where this card shines the most. you don't NEED to play anymore creature as long as you can swing for 4 each turn. when they finally deal with it (using a removal spell preferably), then you start dropping the rest of your guys.

True. And, let's not forget about pumping it up via various pieces of equipment. 3nodding

Or Token strategies. Honden of Life's web, Spiritual Visits, the one enchantment that puts tokens into play when you deal damage to a player, if you have a Verdant Force on the field beforehand...

*cough*Confusion in the ranks*cough*

Notice they came out in the same set. All you do if play CitR, then Grid Monitor (after they play two creatures, prefereably). Now they can't play creature's, and you can continosly swap there remaining creature with creatures of your own. You have control over what kind of creatures they get. Now, Grid Monitor shines even more if you are playing a Red/White, when you can throw in the CitR, and follow up Grid Monitor by Pacifying/Arresting/etc. it. It can give you board control (as far as your opponents creatures go).

-he must play an artifact 1st, before u
can do the swap and to execute this
combo of your's. if he doesn't have any
artifact this combo is useless.

Wrong. Grid Monitor is an "Artifact Creature." It has two super-types. It is legal to use either of them, meaning you can swap the Monitor for an Artifact OR a Creautre.

You can also just play your big creatures first and drop Grid monitor in after you can put a hurt down. and don't forget things like Cryptic Gateway to drop creatures into play after he's out.

The part of your quote I underlined is incorrect. It has two card types, not supertypes. Legendary is an example of a super-type. Artifact and Creature are not. And Arcane, Equipment, Goblin, and Aura are all examples of subtypes.

Believe what you will, but a judge will rule against what you think every time.

An artifact creature is both a creature and an artifact. So yes you could switch it for either item.

Confusion also triggers on itself when coming into play, and you have to make the switch every time as long as there is legal targets.

Oh, and they both have to share the same type when it targets, and when it resolves.
