It had been at least a week before the young mare had finally felt as though she could stand on her own four feet again. She'd kept herself alone, secluded, and spent her time wandering the fields in broad daylight instead of the usual dusk. The hazy cloud of her mind had finally abated, and she could now look upon the events of meeting that strange stallion with some clarity. Lon, he'd called himself. The Lord of Nightmares. A shroud of shadowy illusion, with warm and comforting wings. He had reached out to a complete stranger with no apparent reason--and, given his namesake, she somehow doubted it was from the kindness of his heart.

So what did this mysterious stallion have in mind? He wasn't going to follow her, but told her she was free to do as she wished. Well, she was no doting lap dog, but she had to admit, curiosity compelled her. She still wasn't quite sure if he was mad or sane... Her great wings, the only gift from her mother she had been forced to accept, propelled her across the rapidly darkening skies. Sharp eyes scanned the forests below, searching for the place she'd been instructed to go if she'd ever wanted to see him again. Once she'd spotted a place decently clear of trees, the mare delicately descended, tucking her wings close to her sides. Yes, this looked about right...

Soundlessly, she shifted through the forest with ears swiveling to catch any sounds. The last thing she needed was to be stalked and ambushed in the dark. No, she was hunting her own prey now, be it in a rather figurative sense. Lon... He'd said some things that, though she'd had difficulty accepting at first, now understood and somewhat agreed with. What instincts she carried from her father weren't a curse. Her mother may have believed it made her a monster, but at least she could remain a civil and polite one. She didn't have to attack everyone she met, or even other Soquili. And loathe as she was to attacking animals... Well. She hadn't forgotten the offer that the stallion had made to her, but she was reluctant to accept it. That would make her dependent on him, and that was absolutely unacceptable.

Nyx allowed herself to finally stop moving when she felt as though she'd gotten deep enough, glancing up at the towering trees to watch the last colors of the dying sunset fade. She had played her part in this bizarre little game of his. In fact, she wasn't exactly sure what she should even say to him, should he decide to show. Her bloodlust was sated, and she was calm. Now all that was left was to see if he would show.

As promised, he did not follow her.

It was particularily hard to keep said promise for the Lord of Nightmares, his curiosity compelling him to keep track, observe...otherwise stalk the beautiful ivory mare. She was quite a specimen of the beauty of light and dark; the best of both worlds. Yet he'd kept himself preoccupied with what these lands had to offer, which in comparison seemed so very, very boring. What was it about her that was indeed driving him so crazy, turning what was once an almighty god into a hormone driven stallion? Who knew, yet this didn't stop him in the slightest from night after night returning to the meadow that they met in - waiting in unbearable anticipation for what hopefully would be a second reunion.

A week had passed, and on the seventh night the large stallion returned to the clearing the moment the last rays of light vaished beyond the horizon. However as the moon's beautiful rays cast over the earth, low and behold what did he find? Nyx. She'd returned, and something inside him stirred as what could be explained as an almost joyous grin turned his lips skyward. However, on his face it looked something sinister; yet no matter - he had more pressing matters at hand!

There were times he wished his tail wasn't so noisy, yet he wasn't exactly wanting to startle the mare. Emerging from the very shadows themselves he approached the white mare; their pelts literally like the very day and night in contrast.

"So, you finally came back hmm? Had fun while you were gone; or is it that you're simply hungry again?"

He could still feel the tightness of his flesh where she'd bitten him, drained the blood he held in such high reguard. Without this precious liquid how could he see and experience the world? He'd be dead, and that indeed would be such a ill timed tragedy.

He wanted death eventually, but he'd be damned if it was going to happen before his curiosity could be laid to rest.

And there he was in turn, all unfurling wings and crackling shadow--a stallion only nightmares could produce. Yet, he lacked the ferocious savagery she would have expected from such a beast. His lordly behavior was apt for the title he claimed to have been bestowed upon him, though the frosty mare found herself arching her neck a little at his question. Confident, wasn't he? Yet, she remembered bitterly, she'd acted like little more than a mewling pup in his presence last. Was it really so surprising? "You sound as though you've been waiting." Nyx responded after a moment, tactfully resisting the urge to tack 'my lord' onto the end just for reaction's sake. She remembered he'd said he'd do as much... For him to actually do such a thing, however, was a different story indeed.

As he approached, she shifted delicately to better face him with a musing sort of expression. "...I've only thought about some things. Though your offer was... generous, I'm hardly inclined to think of you as merely a blood bank." There was a barely audible snort, before she suppressed a sigh, shifting her wings. Still, she observed him from the corner of an eye, wondering if she'd catch a glimpse of disappointment or even amusement. Who could say, with this one?

"I know little about you, Lon, but you seem to have figured me out after one meeting alone." She watched him carefully for a moment, calculating. "...You're curious." The mare admitted, shaking her head slowly as though to fight back the faint smile that pulled at her muzzle. "...I suppose it's safe to say I've never met anything like you." She wasn't going to pry directly, not when she could be subtle and yet still polite. And he'd waited for her, hadn't he? But what were his true intentions...?

Another moment of silence passed before she made up her mind, turning slowly while still keeping him in her sights. "I don't know how long you've been in these particular woods, or if you've discovered their secrets. If you haven't... Well, will you fly with me?"

"Waiting?" Well well, here was a pleasant change of attitude...and it surely was an enticing thing for the stallion to savor. Although at the same time she was rather cute when showing her vulnerability, Lon had a hell of a time playing with fire. Why, getting burned was half the fun! By the time the brute of a stallion had stopped he was but a mere breath away, oh how he missed those eyes; a swirling vortex of emotions he had get to see...all withing a rather comforting grey hue. At the same time a smirk drew across his face as she spoke, amused might have not been the correct word to use...but there was definately something along the lines of glad in his expression.

"Even if you were to think of me only as such, I wouldn't ask for more. I am, afterall....whatever you need me to be." There was some meaning in how he spoke those words, even if its true meaning was hard to pick out. Shaking his head so long locks of ebony fell over his golden eyes, the Lord of Nightmares could only give a lighthearted scoff.

"You seem to be mistaken, Nyx. I can see a lot about you with how you hold yourself, how you speak...I can only see so much in your eyes." Even though the eyes were the window to the soul, he was sure there had to be more rooms in the house than the one the window looked into afterall. Lowering his head lightly, he traced his snout down her neck to rest over her heart as a deep chuckle rose from his throat.

"I still need to know, what lies in here. So yes....Im very curious." He had no problem admitting such, for it was probably obvious in how he acted to some.

However, he was a bit confused as she turned away and asked for a flight together. Unsure of her motives, or to the location they would be headed; the male shrugged his shoulders and followed her. "Its safe to say. I have not been here too long, so any secrets are such to me. Are you going to escort me to these vast wonders?" A most curious grin crossed his maw, almost like of a colt finally able to venture out of his parent's sight on his own. Unfurling his large wings into the night sky, he gave a few hard flaps to get him airborne, hovering as he waited for Nyx to take off. "Perhaps then, I can indulge you on some secrets you seem to want to know..." Besides, after leading her along for this long...it wouldn't hurt to give out a little personal information.

He was so close again without warning, her breath stuttering a surprised protest in her throat before it died. Golden eyes had snagged her own so effortlessly once more, but the mare found herself struggling to pull away. Who was she to be so transfixed by a still-stranger? She had more dignity than that! "So you say. Forgive me if I remain skeptical." The mare said coolly, almost relieved when dark hair fell in front off the sheen of his gaze. It gave her time to compose herself, the darkened tips of her wings brushing against her sides as though to soothe with their touch alone.

The feel of his touch against her skin was almost enough to make her miss what he was saying, flustered and snorting almost indignantly as she slipped away from his touch. "Be careful what you see in them. What might seem genuine can always be a cleverly casted illusion..." Still, he'd managed to rattle her once more, but the sight of him looking a little unsure was enough to bolster her defenses back up once more. Lord of Nightmares or not, he wasn't all unlike any other stallion!

"If you'd like." Came the simple enough reply, but her eyes gleamed with what might have been amusement. "You're used to wandering in the dark, no? Let's see if you can place trust in a guide." She watched those great wings unfurl, her own extending before she sprang aloft. It wasn't wise to fly at night, she knew this, but it was still light enough for her to see should she proceed carefully. "Would you? That's flattering." She rolled her eyes quietly, looking exasperated and almost irritated had it not been for the faint smile that flicked briefly to her muzzle.

What a rush it was to feel the wind bunch underneath her wings, carrying her high above the trees as she winged her way towards one of her more favorite musing spots. She trusted the stallion to follow, her ears constantly flicking back to listen in case he tried anything funny. Soon, the sound of roaring water was enough to drown her senses, and the sweet smell of water told her she was getting close. The ivory streak dove without warning, a flutter of wings letting her land soundlessly on the damp soil that blanketed the feet of the massive waterfall.

It was a beautiful thing, powerful and unstoppable in its own right. She craned her neck to stare up as far as she could, having flown over its mighty falls many a time. She enjoyed venturing here by herself to think and muse, fascinated by the chaos of the rushing waters, and the quiet peacefulness of the river that lay both before and after it. Her misty eyes flicked skywards once more, this time seeking a dragon-winged shadow among the night sky.

Chuckling for the umpteenth time since he'd met this strange mare, the stallion took off after her into the night skies; becoming invisible against the background. Large wings propelled him high, the heavy beating of his leathery span echoing across the silent skies as he made sure to keep close range least he loose sight of her. Which wasn't too hard with her crisp white pelt yet that was besides the point, he enjoyed the view - mesmerized by the construction and motions of her wings which allowed her to fly. It was all so fascinating, and rarely he got to witness it since if he tried to watch his own wings in flight it would be quite disasterous.

However with their destination approaching fast with the sounds of roaring waters his eyes immediately snapped up to lay view on the magnificent waterfall. He'd never been to one yet, and already he found himself giddy with a sense of wonder and awe....indeed he was drawn to the power and chaos it posessed, yet relaxed by the calm and peaceful waters that flowed from the falls. Such beautiful harmony in its finest form.

Instead of landing at her side though, the stallion flew dangerous close to hitting her before dodging by a thread, gliding over the water as he let his hooves skim across the surface. An almost joyous deep laugh erupted from his throat, flapping his wings roughly as he did a near 90 degree twist up as he imitated running up the falls. Of course the droplets misting off the falls soaked his pelt completely as he curved around and soared back to Nyx when he was finished. Landing with a thump on the soft soil, he shook out his pelt as his tail crackled and hissed from the droplets.

"I am glad I trusted, for it has given me a most beautiful treasure..." He commented before shifting his glowing gaze back to the falls, a genuine smile on his maw. "This place is amazing, Nyx....I thank you for showing this to me."

Intaking a deep breath of the crisp, clean air around the falls, he exhaled slowly while shifting his gaze to her. "Truth be told I have always wanted to visit waterfalls, and oceans....water is so fascinating in all its forms...steam, fog, ice, snow, rain. I hope to someday see it all, it would make me....happy. Yes...very happy indeed. Is this why you come here?"

Oh wait, that reminded him.

"The dark is all I know, and all I think i'll ever know. So tell me, Nyx...describe what this place is like in the daylight hours? The sun must really bring out the splendor of the falls..."

Her eyes had strained through the darkness to glimpse the elusive stallion before a rush of wind near her face nearly made her jump out of her skin. Startled, Nyx danced back, glancing towards the falls just in time to see the male attempting to fly straight up the rushing waters. He sounded and was acting just like a foal... but somehow, she found herself amused rather than irritated, the slightest grin pulling at her face while her tail flicked thoughtfully. He returned to her soaking wet and not the least bit sorry. She could only chuckle softly, wondering why it pleased her to know her spot had turned out to be a success.

"I'm sure you would have found it eventually. It's free for all who manage to discover it. ...But you are welcome." She tilted her face up to see him better, listening with a flicker of amusement as he admitted just another piece of himself for her to tuck away and remember. "Versatile, yes... It knows how to adapt itself for whatever situation." So he'd really be satisfied with such a thing? Hm. How simple. To a fault, it was almost endearing.

"I come here to think." She merely offered, a ear pricking at his question. "It does. When the sun is first rising, it hits the waters just right... They practically sparkle as they tumble from the rocks. When it's warm, the mist from the spray keeps one pleasantly cool, and I've even heard of some leaping from the top to plunge into the pools below." Perhaps that was why she couldn't fully give herself away to the dark. Too much would be missed in the light.

"The sun truly drives you away? Does it... hurt?" She cursed herself for not being able to phrase her question more elegantly, but it would have to do. She was curious. He insisted he had to retire when the dawn peaked... Besides, didn't he say that perhaps he would indulge her more about all his peculiarities?

"To think? Think about what?" A simple question really, she could thought about the rocks at her feet to the infinate cosmos for all he knew...yet it seemed most took the opportunity to dwell on problems, memories or perhaps ones they care about.

Casting his glance over the rippled water's surface, the stallion closed his eyes as he could envision her very words coming to life. Sparking flecks of light dancing across the clear blue water as the sun shined brightly overhead, at the same time creating brilliant rainbows on the mist surrounding the base of the falls. A gentle breeze would pick up, lifting the cool mist droplets to cascade across his dark pelt, it was all so...nice.

However returning to reality as his eyes opened and returned to the fair mare's frame, he grinned with a chuckle at her question.

"No, the sun does not hurt me....or turn me to dust if that might be your next question my dear. With my black pelt it makes the sunlight incredibly hot, as well...I fear for my life in all honesty. With my to do list so large, I can't go and get myself killed before i've experienced anything. Being a massive black blob in the daylight ruins all attempts of being stealthy amongst the green and blue of the daylight world. I tend to...scare soquili as well, a terrible ruckus they make." Clicking his teeth together in a 'tsk' fashion, before leanding up against her frame.

"I am, however...quite eager to perhaps make a waterfall jump. I probably won't do it right, so how about you go first and show me how its done, Nyx?" Taking a step towards the falls, he cast his head back casually with yet another of his mischevious looks across his facial features. "Come on, it will be fun."
