So, today I went to regionals auditions. Found my room and the warm-up room and begin to put my clarinet together. I am about to put my mouthpiece on, but someone bumps into me and I srop it. It falls and rolls a bit. I pick it up and put it on my instrument, and then i realize it broke when it fell! So, I was all ready to play, except my mouthpiece was broken. couldn't get a sound out of my clarinet. Luckily, I was a couple hours early, and a lot of our band parents were there, including one by the clarinet auditions who was the mother of my section leader. She got a hold of her daughter and some other girls in my section brought me an extra mouthpiece so I could audition. But of course, it is a bit too big, so I can barely get a sound out of my instrument still. I had about an hour to warm up, so it improved to the best I could do, but I still porbably failed my audition. Especially when the stupid clarinet wouldn't let me play third octave on one of my easiest and favorite scales and I had just learned two of the three required octaves for the other scale like 20 minutes before the audition, so that went terribly as well. Oh well, at least I tried...
Edit: I made it! 25 chair clarinet. 3rd highest clarient chair at my school! Out fo seven! I am so surprised and excited! Except I feel kind of bad because the girl i borrowed the muthpiece from and the other who helped teach me the scale I didn't know but knew I had to play are below me. I hate it when that happens! I always feel like they were meant to be above me.
I don't know. Either the judge was deaf, I am better then I thought, or everyone messed up super big time, because i honestly did not think I would make it. And of course my BD(who is in charge of Southeast regionals auditions this year, though he had no say in the actual auditions, just when where and how they happened) had to embarrass us all by saying our names in the anouncements todayXD It was funny because there were seven clarinets(Who dominated over all other sections at our school in terms of how many made it) and he was saying them "Name(Instrument) so later my friends were like "Yeah, I ould have gotten tired by then. I would have made a mistake saying Clarinet when i was supposed to say another instrument. he must have practiced in front of the mirror or soemthing..." Haha.
