The large male crept through the bushes as quietly as he could. Wandering away from his three daughters for a bit. Zarah had her mate, Soy was starting to go off on her own more. Then Umi she liked to stay with him, but he knew that one that she would too find her own. He was starting to lose the ones closest to him, he would once more be on his own.
He paused as he walked, the smell of gazelle filled his nose. He slunk low to the ground following the scent. His nose twitched as he did. He was good at hunting, for a male and all. After losing his whole pride and being off on his own he had to learn. He watched intensely from where he was standing. Scanning over the heard trying to pick out the best one to go after. That's when his eyes landed on a older female, limping too. That was it.
Then he was off.
His muscles ripped under him as he made long powerful strides toward the smaller pray animal. His gaze intense and focused on the meal in front of him. Running as quickly as he could. Soon he was coming up behind it, pushing out his paws for a tag, that's when he jumped up, latching on to the slower animals hind quarters and with a grunt he was rolling over the animal, then pinning it to the ground, grabbing on to its next and waiting for it to stop moving before he started to rip at the meat and start his meal.

The lone amethyst tigress strode gracefully across the grasslands, the heat pounding against her back in a soothing manner. Ever since her split with Ajani, Anya had never felt more free or her own person in her whole entire life. Her mating with Ajani seemed too early, but at the time she was deeply in love with the male. He was her everything in her eyes. Then after cubs, things turned boring. He hardly spoke to her, was hardly home. He didn't mistreat her, but he wasn't kidding when he said "bear my heirs".
With a sigh she came to a stop, her stomach beginning to growl. She was hungry and her hunting skills did need refining. She came across a gazelle group, her eyes scanning the area for a quick meal. When her eyes came across the limping female, she crouched low. Her muscles rippled under her skin, her eyes stuck on her target. She was still creeping closer when the beasts went crazy. She jumped up at the sight of the male working the herd. Her ears twitched as she watched him, her eyes never wavering. Unlike most males, he actually knew how to hunt. He must have been a rogue...
And his coloring was almost like Ajani's....but a softer shade.
Shaking her head from the memory, she watched as he took down the one she wanted, the rest of the herd leaping away. Her hunt was over. She had an empty belly while the male was feasting on her kill. But he could not have known, so it wasn't his fault. She watched him for a moment before taking a slow walk across from his position. There was no telling what male rogues did and what was in their head. She made sure to keep quiet as to avoid his gaze.

Zaff kept his mind on his meal. Ripping at the meat, filling his belly. He wasn't really paying attention to others around him or the fact if there was anyone around him. He licked his lips getting some of the blood off of his lighter coat. He hated getting blood on his pelt, it always made it hard to get out of his pelt. Way to light to get dirty. But he did a pretty good job with keeping it clean even when he was eating he got very little blood on himself.
He was about to start eating once more that was until something caught his eye. He brought his muzzle up from the meal, it took him a moment before he realized it was a female. Purple, quiet beautiful too. A soft smile grew on his lips as he stepped away from his meal a few steps before looking up at the female.
"Hello Ma'am." He called out quietly, sitting back on his haunches licking some of the blood off of his maw before smiling at her. He was trying to make himself look as nonthreatening as he could. He didn't want to scare the female away. That wouldn't be good. He wanted some company, and this female was quite an attention grabber. He was still a little hungry but anytime a female approached him he stopped, then he would do what he normally would. "You would like to join me Ma'am?" He nodded, it was only polite to ask a female if she wanted to join him in a meal. He didn't want to make himself rude.
"There is enough for two." He encourage to the female, motioning with one of his paws to the mostly uneaten meal in front of him. He flicked his tail behind him the smile growing even more on his face, trying to make himself as friendly as possible. He loved company. He also has a feeling that this female was also going after the pray that he caught. That gave him all the more of a reason to share.

With a start, she realized that the male had noticed her. Looking over her shoulder at him, she listened to what he had to say, his actions, his mannerisms, and appearance. Ok, so he didn't look like a psychopathic rogue, but caution never left her.
"Please, don't call me ma'am." She chuffed gently. He was trying; she gave him that much. With a stretch, she rounded gracefully so that she was walking toward him. "Though I may be past my prime, I assure you I am not that old." She gave a coy smile standing before the rogue. With a respectful bow, she spoke. "My name is Anya. I am pleased to meet you. Though I thank you for your offer, I do not think I could accept. I mean no disrespect to you, kind sir, but I believe in eating my own catch." As she rose, her gaze met his for the first time, tail flicking. Anya's eyes held an indifference to them, her playful nature sprouting forward. "But, I will stay a while. Nice to have company." Anya nodded to him. That much she could do after he offered his hard earned kill.

Zaff nodded to the female and chuckled slightly. "Ah, You do not look it, not at all. Trust me I am way past my prime but I still look quiet old." He smiled at the female, glad to see that she was moving closer so they did not have to shout back and forth like 'animals'.
"Ah, I understand." He nodded at her comment about her liking to catch her own meal. "Anya is a beautiful name." He commented simply before moving a little closer to his meal and taking a small bite, chewing and swallowing before speaking once more to the lioness. "Just keep in mind that the offer is still open. I'd hate for the meal to go to waste." He chuckled slightly leaning down taking another bite and repeating the cycle before looking up and catching the gaze of the lioness. Her eyes were quiet pretty. He gave her a soft smile then nodded. "Well thank you for sticking around and keeping me company." A truly welcoming, friendly smile grew more on his maw. "My name is Zaff. It is very much a pleasure to meet you beautiful Anya."
He knew he was complementing her a lot. But it was in his nature, even with his past mate he showered her with compliments at all times, even other females. Not a flirting manner but with small things. He was very much a gentleman. It was how he was raised once when he was a younger cub. He noticed her playful posture that made him loosen up some. He was glad to see a lioness that still seemed like she wanted to play that was always good to him. "What brings you around these lands?"

The amethyst ligress gave a light smile, tail flicking idly as she settled on her belly in front of him. "Well, if you insist. I won't turn down good food. You have my thanks, dear Zaff." She reached over taking a bit of meat eating slowly.
"What brings me here?" She tilted her head a little at the question before taking in some more meat. She ate quietly for a moment before answering his question. "I've been on my own for I don't know how many moon spans. My children are grown. They can handle themselves." Anya gave a light smile. "What about you? What makes you travel about like this?"

Zaff smiled as she finally settled with him. "Thank you for joining me!" He smirked with a small chuckle. He licked his lips as he took a bite out of the meal easily swallowing it down before looking up at her listening to what she was saying. Her story sounded close to his own.
He took another bite of the meal before thinking slightly. "Mmm. I have to say the same here... My three daughters they are all starting to settle on their own with their own mates. My own mate was killed a while ago. I wander between the homes of my three children but I like to be on my own some times." He chuckled slightly before he sniffed the meal Full enough to stop eating. "What of the father?" He asked hoping he wouldn't hit a tender spot. Then again a lot of the time questions like that ended up hitting that spot, but he could hope anyway.

"The father?" She smiled a little with a light laugh. "He is probably wandering. I left him... for you see, when I became pregnant, he stopped his sweet words. While I raised his children, I barely saw much of him. So when my youngest son grew to adulthood, I went my own way. Of course he protested, but I would not be swayed. I went my way and have been wandering around ever since. I try to keep in touch with my children and foster mother."
With a shrug, Anya ceased her eating beginning to clean her paws and maw. "I am sorry for your loss, Zaff. Your daughters are very lucky to have you as a father." She nodded to him out of respect. "And I'm sure your mate is proud of you for taking care of them so well."

Zaff arched a brow at her as she spoke, he shook his head then started to clean his own paws. "That is not a man." His voice was slightly gruff for a moment before he raised his head to look at her, shaking his head once more. "I would never be able to do that. My children mother would be the most important thing in my life."
The large male chuckled slightly working the blood out of his paws. "Thank you. It is a old lost but she lives on through my daughters." He let out a soft sigh. He had to admit that he missed his old mate, but he knew that one day he had to move on. He stopped cleaning his paws for a moment. "I feel more sorry for you, taking care of those cubs when you did have some one to help but they decided not to. I didn't run into my daughters until they were older... We got separated for a while. But now I try my hardest to make up the years I missed." He chuckled softly before working on his paws again.

"At least you are trying, Zaff. That's the most important thing to do right now...try." Her tail flicked gently as she stared up into the sky. "I wonder how my children are. I feel as if I abandoned them when I left their father, but they are grown. My daughter, Iniko, chooses to live with her father. My son, Kosai, is a bit of a wanderer, but he mostly stays with my mother since he doesn't know where to find me. I've thought of making a home base, but I missed so much when I was young. Instead of going out adventuring, I was home raising my two beautiful children that I thank the Fates for every single day. Without them, I would have been distraught..." The ligress trailed off before looking over at Zaff. "May I ask how you got separated from your daughters? It must have been painful for you not knowing what was going on, and now finally finding them when they're pretty much grown...why I'd be devastated..." Anya trailed off slightly looking down at her paws.

Zaff smiled lightly at the female and nodded. "Thanks" He smiled at the idea, he was trying as much as he could. He looked at her then touched her leg softly with his tail, in a confuting way. "I'm sure that your children miss you too. I'm more than sure that they will be happy to see you." He then looked up at the sky thinking for a moment before he spoke again. "I used to have a big pride, a mate, lots of children, I'm not the youngest of males." He chuckled softly at the idea. "Everything was going good until another pride attacked, killing all except me... Zarah, Soylala and as I recently found out Umi... My daughters that is." He shook his head. "When we were attacked I had to run, I didn't know anyone was alive." He sighed through his nose before looking up more at the sky. He knew his mate was up there, he missed her so much. He knew that one day he would move on though...

Her tail flicked ever so lightly. "Well I am glad that you got a chance to see them again. Most do not have that luxury. I had...two prides. I was with a male that was like a brother to me...we were extremely close. Close enough I considered him a mate...but he chose another for his love. I then left to live with my foster uncle and his family. There I met another male...Ajani. He was everything I ever dreamed...and something unknown to me, I became his queen. I was so excited to start a family...then my dream ended and reality became of me." With a gentle sigh, the female looked over at the male with a smile. "But here I am doing what I want when I want. No one is my keeper."
Shaking her head from the foul memory, she smiled a little. "I apologize for my sudden outburst. Just...freedom is extremely important to me. I can't stand not having it..." Looking over at the male, she noticed his attention to the sky. With a light smile, she too looked upward. "I'm sure she's watching you now, Zaff. She misses you as you miss her."

Zaff looked at her with a curious look. Listening quietly to what she was saying. He always listened to people, he liked hearing stories from various other people. "No need to Apologize!" He chuckled softly before smiling at her. "I understand the need for freedom. Some times I feel like I need freedom too. Thats why I'm wandering around right now." He laughed slightly before looking up. "Aye I agree... however I have to stop living in the past." He sighed quietly then shook his head. "I'm alone..." He chuckled at himself.

"No one is ever truly alone." Anya simply stated. "You have friends and you have family. You could even find love in the strangest places, Zaff." She gave a comforting smile. "You just have to look." The ligress gracefully stood. "Now, have some fun!" With a grin, she pounced on the big male. "TAG!" Anya exclaimed before jumping off him, using his body as leverage and sprinted off away from him. He needed to stop living in the past, yes. Heading toward the future would just be like this game of tag. You'd never know where, when, or who you ended up with.
Maybe she should stop living in the past too.
