Swinging in to the life of a scavenger had become quite easy for Shadows. He rarely visited the band of thieves he had been a part of. It seemed like his days of thievery were long gone, yet he still carried the title of a thief.
But he still hadn't told Fancy he was one. The longer he waited, the worse they would both feel about it, the slate reasoned with himself as he glided towards Fancy's- their nest.
Gripped securely in Shadow's talons was his hard day's work; a small plastic bag of carefully collected and shelled seeds. They would have plenty of seeds to eat tonight, and Shadows was sure he would give any they didn't need to the poorer pidge on the other side of the tracks. The nest was in sight, Shadows swiftly banked and landed on the edge, plastic bag still safely with him.
He nearly fell over when he spotted the eggs, the nest was bigger too he noticed but his brain didn't quite register it. Did he land on the wrong nest? No he couldn't have, Fancy was there too. That meant the eggs were theirs! His! He was a father! Shadows was flabbergasted and excited at the same time, "Are these our eggs?...Since when..." He trailed off, at a loss for words.

Shadows unconsciously set aside his bag of seeds in an uninhabited spot on the edge of the inside of the nest, careful not to disturb the fragile eggs. The shock of the surprise was fading. "...They're beautiful, they take after their mother." Shadows whispered with a small chuckle, smiling at his mate. He was a father! Once the shock had completely faded, he carefully made his way towards Fancy and embraced her in a hug. He gave her a pidge-esque kiss, their beaks clinking together at the tip mimicking what humans call an Eskimo kiss. "And you're going to be a great mother." The slate broke the embrace to sit down next to his mate, cuddling up beside her and gazing at their eggs once more.
