Ibura was lost and alone, and she was not happy about it. She was always with her sister, Isithelo, but she could not find the wolf for the life of her! It was very frustrating, it was one of many times her deficits in the ways of being a hunter shone through and she never liked when that happened. She lost track of her sister's scent, most importantly. So she was lost. Awkwardly, she was ducked down in an effort to keep herself hidden but also keep an eye out for anything of interest. She had never liked hunting, at least not the end product of it- she was incapable of actually catching prey and she couldn't stand the taste.. but she was just an unusual wolf. She had no reason to doubt it, Isithelo had never doubted it.

With a lonely sigh, she gave up and just curled her legs under her and lay down. Maybe if she waited long enough, Isi would find her! Absently, she nibbled on the grass before her. At least she wouldn't get hungry, her favorite food was all around. Poor Isi had no one to help her!

Uhai was bigger, he was stronger and he was enjoying it. He was still no master, far from it in fact- but he was larger than he had been, he was improving and he was keen on continuing to improve. More than that, he was becoming aware of his powers and because of that he was learning to use them better. His claws and teeth were still less than suited for the actual capture of prey, but it did not stop him from trying. He was trying hard to conceal himself from the prey, and he wasn't sure how well it was working but he knew the mostly-white beast he was following did not notice him.

When she lay down in the grass, he couldn't help but chuckle aloud. This was going to be easy, it would be his first catch, too! With a wide, toothy grin, he ducked down and inched closer and closer.

Her ears perked and her head straightened at the strange sound of someone .. laughing? Something in her stirred, telling her to be cautious, but her conscious awareness of herself as a predator and not a prey beast overpowered the sense and she looked around curiously. It wasn't Isi, that much was certain- it was too deep a sound. Her nostrils flared quietly as she tried to take in the scent, though she found nothing.

Was someone there..?

Uhai was surprised to watch her become more attentive but also seem continually relaxed and unconcerned by the fact that something was stalking her. It threw him off, but he took advantage of it. With a still very-cublike snarl, he wriggled and projected himself towards the relaxing waterbuck.

"Goooootcha!" he cried as he jumped.

Again, her conscious awareness blocked the subconscious desire to flee at the sound and when the snarl was heard, all she did was look for the source and brace herself. If she were a true predator and not an illusioned prey beast, she would certainly have been a terrible one for not trying to protect herself. In her mind, only prey creatures had to worry about being attacked- this was an entirely novel and unexpected situation for her to be in.

She flinched when the god landed on her, finally some instinct took over and attempted to scramble to her feet, her legs flailing awkwardly beneath her- ultimately, she only managed to tangle her legs and truly get stuck beneath the paws of the little god.

"W-what!" she cried.

Less confused when she finally attempted to flee, Uhai chuckled menacingly now that he was half-sprawled over his catch. He would have to work on the actual catch like this, his claws were extended but they were not actually over any of the waterbuck's flesh.

"I've caught you, prey!" he declared with another laugh, "You've fallen victim to the masterful god of predators!" Awkwardly repositioning himself, Uhai squirmed back so his front paws held down Ibura and he could stand proudly over her.

"Prey?" she blinked, her nose wrinkling and a laugh finally escaping her. She was fully distracted from the introduction of her captor as the god of predators, she thought it was just too ridiculous to be called prey. "I am not prey, I am a maned wolf!" How silly this little god was, he couldn't even tell a wolf from.. from a hare, or whatever prey beast she was being mistaken for!

"A god of predators should know that!" she declared.

"Wolf?" he repeated, hopping back with a bit of help from his wings and looking the creature up and down. She was most certainly not a wolf as he knew them, he had seen maned wolves. Mostly from a distance, of course, but he had also seen waterbucks from a distance, the same distance. She matched them, not the wolves. And he was hardly about to question his initial instinct about it. This was a prey beast and that was that!

"You are not--!"

Uhai stopped himself instead of arguing. This was interesting! Had he really found a prey beast who was.. on his side? A small triumph, certainly, but something.. something to rub in the face of his brother. He didn't say anything and instead considered his options. Hmm!

"That's right," Ibura nodded, and once she was free from the weight of the small god, she got up to her feet and looked at him with great curiosity. So this was the god of predators! How very interesting, she had never really heard of gods actually existing! She had heard of them, though. She was just as interested as he seemed to be.

"My name is Ibura," she said politely, not sure how to act anymore but going for polite at the very least, "I- I'm sorry, but I've never met a god before!"

"Ibura the maned wolf," Uhai repeated thoughtfully, deciding he would not inform the waterbuck of her mistake and instead he would leave her as she was. This was so very intriguing! He would not give up a prey beast who thought it was a predator, it was a confusion he was quite happy to have in a creature.

"I am Uhaijizi, I am the god who watches and helps the predators of the savanna," he said proudly, his toothy grin returning, "I, ah, apologize for the mistaken identity!"

"That's right," she said brightly when he considered her introduction, and gave a short, polite bow when he introduced himself fully, "Then I am very glad to meet you, Uhaijizi, god of predators! I am thankful to you, as my sister certainly would be if she were here!"

Oh, poor Isithelo! She would be so jealous to hear that Ibura had met such a wonderful little god, even though he had mistaken what she was. It was an easily forgivable mistake for a god so close to their lives.

Ibura had a sister..! That was a delightful bit of information, Uhai immediately wondered if there were more waterbucks who thought they were maned wolves. If there were such a group of bucks, he wanted to meet them very much!

"Your sister?" he asked carefully, wondering if he might find a way to be introduced to her, "Why isn't she here with you?"

"I lost Isithelo," Ibura explained with a hint of sadness in her voice, for she did miss her sister very much. She offered a small shrug, not sure she should be troubling a god with such a silly worry- but he seemed so interested in it, there was no reason she couldn't keep talking!

"I've been searching for her, but she has always been much better at hiding than me."

A lost buck-wolf? Uhai was a fantastic hunter, if he did say so himself (and he did, though he was generally the only one). He would happily help if it might lead him to more anomalies like this strange predator-prey-beast.

"I could help you look," he offered with a grin, "I am master of predators, after all! I should be able to find a single lost predator." Hopefully!

Ibura brightened at the offer to help. She would certainly find her sister if she had a god on her side, she had every faith and trust in the small god despite his size, his mistake and the not-so-obvious boasting. Who was she to turn down help? Especially from a god!

"I would appreciate that very much!" she said with a small skip of joy, "She's white and green and yellow as I am, only she has more color over her back. She is not so spotty."
