When I say he'd grown a bit, ... I thought he was kinda big... am I right?? now that I look at the photo maybe that is normal dalek size. Anyway you're probably wondering what I'm going about, this is just a dalek not a fun filled sci-fi weekend. Friday isn't even technically the weekend. But HA! just you wait I say, Freaj has more to show you :3 I went to the Gallery of Modern Art because there was some... thing on there, had some random commedians who all turned out to be in drag which was... different, had some very weird art (as to be expected I guess, but some of it was awesome) and some of the guys from the show 'The Chasers War on Everything' which you may or may not have seen. Anyhoo in the bulding opposite there is this gaming convention thing, and we were walking past having grown tired of looking at deformed mopeds with 14 mirrors and house floorplans on walls and furry white forests covering rooms... looking for some food, and who should I happen to spot in front of the gaming thing. And when he caught me snapping his piccie with my phone, he came over and started talking smile but I couldn't understand a word he was saying with that helmet on, so I just stared a bit and then asked him to give me a BIG SMILE.

And to top it off, today I got some GLASSES 0.0 o.o And a new laptop.
Reading glasses, just like I always wanted biggrin That sounds kinda sad really, aspiring to have reading glasses... eh anway, turns out I am long sighted after all. :3
Lappy is one of those Dell studio latops. I really really didn't want a Dell (for good reason) but it was cheap so hey. I would have loved a sony vaio or one of the Asus M series...
Ah well. So even though glasses and laptop isn't really ... anything much to do with sci-fi I figured it was geeky kind of, ... well, it added to the geekyness of my weekend so it deserved a place.
Might even end up posting a piccie of both of those. Not that anyone would really care but hey.
Actually that's a brilliant idea. So this thread doesn't die and get thrown away- why doesn't everyone post some piccies and tell some stories about encountering various sci-fi characters, and your current laptop and / or pair of glasses? Sounds good to me.

Sounds like a pretty cool weekend. smile What's a Dalek doing at the library?
My glasses are needing replacement & the hinges are so worn out the screws are constantly trying to fall out. mad But I have no health coverage & can't afford to go get more, so they'll have to do.

Looking up the Doctor, of course! mrgreen Unless they're conversing with Vashta Nerada, in which case we should all be very, very frightened.
Aah, I've had the same lenses for about 3 years now (the frames have been replaced just as many times) and they're scratched up and annoying from so much wear & tear. Fortunately for me, my prescription isn't very strong so when I don't wear them it's not bad, I just usually get a headache from trying to read.
Last time I replaced them was when I lost them to a maniacal rollercoaster.

That would be terrifying! o: Where is the Doctor? We'll be needing him!
I haven't met many cosplayers, but I dressed up like the Doctor for spirit week at my school. x3 It was "nerd day"
And, I guess: My laptop is an IBM, I <3 it. Got it cheap 'cuz my parents work for the company. My glasses are purple and I've had them a while, but I don't use them much so eh. I also have a pair of cheap frames (took out the lenses) for aforementioned cosplay.

I'm hoping we get a 'nerd day' since I'm putting together an Illyria outfit for cosplaying (from the show Angel). If you know anything about that outfit, it's insane, so I'm going as her in one of her regular outfits. The hair/makeup alone is crazy awesome. I haven't been able to find anything for the Doctor yet. sad Except I wanna replace my glasses and frames with something more Doctor-ish anyways.

Ah, I'm jealous! I went to New York City to visit my sister for the day yesterday. It was the first time I'd been there except driving through part of it once. I've decided it is the most overrated city ever. I did visit the Museum of Natural History, but even that was somewhat disappointing because we didn't have time to look at the various "people of such and such place" exhibits.
I spent about 30% of the time either waiting for a subway train (there really are rats in the subways!) or in a subway train which was violently trying to throw me across the floor. Then I spent probably 20% of the time walking several blocks to where we were actually going in the freezing cold because my brother-in-law has a terrible sense of direction. And the other 50% was spent being mostly disappointed by the places I went to visit.
Aside from the museum, we went to the American Girl Place, because my sister and I used to love those dolls, but the historical dolls that we loved have been severely cut back and the store was basically just a doll version of Build A Bear. Then we went to a magic store (which was actually kind of cool, cause the store owner or something was there doing magic tricks) and finally, thanks to me, we ate a a great Irish pub/restaurant. That was the best part of the day, heheh...
Anyway, I don't have a laptop, but I do have glasses! I like my glasses, but I need a new prescription. Once I get the money, I'm going to get some Doctor-ish looking ones. razz I'd actually like to be able to get two pairs, one with gold or brass colored frames that I can modify and decorate to look steampunky. How's that for nerdy? xd

I cosplayed 10 and got everything at the local Goodwill. Well, except for the red converses which I already own... I also made a sonic screwdriver out of duct tape and an actual screwdriver for kicks. x3
@Above: Lol, steampunk glasses. You should do it :P

@Above: Lol, steampunk glasses. You should do it :P Hehehe. Yes. My hair is currently light-ish brown with faded blond streaks. So I'll be either dying it a darker color for the summer conventions (never done that before) or just putting in blue clip streaks + spray streaks depending on how good/bad it looks. I'll get pictures if and when I do it. xd
Ooooh. I've been hunting for costume parts for ages at various thrift stores but I should probably do it more often.
Steampunk glasses. LOLYES. biggrin xp

Steampunk glasses. LOLYES. biggrin xp Woot! blue hair! it'd be awesome if you could somehow get contact lenses in that colour. I wanted blue hair, I asked to get it dyed blue last time I got it cut but the hairdresser said there was no point çause it's darkish. Probably have to get highlights or something. Speakin' of steampunk glasses... check out some of these!; http://www.steampunklab.com/goggles/Glasses/19 http://pan0.etsy.com/il_430xN.28577916.jpg http://image3.etsy.com/il_430xN.24265823.jpg And also speaking of laptops... http://ironwork.jp/monkey_farm/computer/img/mobaile.jpg http://www.streettech.com/storypics/steampunkLaptop2.jpg Contacts?? *crycrycrycry* I'm absolutely terrified of contacts. gonk Ooooooooh. biggrin I'd get blue highlights if it weren't for my school's dress code.

Ooh, neat glasses! Though, those second ones look a bit difficult to see through xP And eww, dress codes. I'm so glad that I don't go to a school with that strict policies anymore.
Cosplay pic Warning: sorta large
