AIM Log -- Felyn & Krysin Hateya & Ghali'Malkia Hateya had gone farther than she had originally intended, but all she had to say for herself is that she was truly restless. With the jungle lands to protect the heart of her pride from the outside world, every day she saw faces that she had seen before, lions that were as familiar to her as her own family. She wanted to see the world, and yet, she was afraid to step beyond the sheltered walls of her pride. Thus, she settled for a tiny little piece of the world - the little stretch of rogue lands beyond the barrier of the thick jungle. She was too afraid to stray too far from the safety of her pride, and too loyal to her family to ever consider it seriously.
Curled up beneath a straggling tree, tucked neatly against the bark, she stared out at the horizon. It was probably not as grand an adventure as others in her pride had had, but it was hers. She longed to see all the places she had heard Shula talk about, but that was where she differed from others in her pride. Maybe she just wasn't very brave, or had been too sheltered. Maybe it just wasn't her destiny to be much of a traveler. Still, this small little glimpse of the world had put a smile on her face, and her bright eyes shone in the sun as she watched the empty lands around her in peace. How long had she been travelling? It seemed to be months now in Ghali'malkia's search for her mother's killer. It was only ironic that it was the same father of her daughters, the daughters she had left behind to exact revenge upon Mafuriko. What was frustrating was that she had lost his trail, and hadn't met any creature that had seen him. Her days were filled with heart ache for the loss of her mother, which even seemed to override her ache for giving her daughters to her sister to take care of. They had just been weaned when she had left, not daring to wait any longer to catch up to the monsterous fiend that had ruined her family. She wondered what her daughters looked like now, as they were likely close to being grown up and independent. Did they even remember her now? She doubted it, but she wasn't used to feeling doubts. No, she had spent these months searching with a grim determination. Her anger had not abated in the least over time. If anything, it only grew and multiplied to a grisly amount. When she found Mafuriko... he would wish he was dead in her mother's place. Ghali looked up from the path in front of her, letting her gaze linger across the lands in futile hope of finding Mafuriko somewhere around her. Instead, she found a lioness reclining underneath a tree, and with a look of determination, she veered over in the direction of the tree providing shelter to the lioness. "You!" Hateya's first reaction was to look for some way to get away. She had actually never encountered a rogue before and she hadn't even considered the fact that she might see someone while she was out here. What would happen if she met someone hostile? She wasn't defenseless, but she couldn't hope to be much of a match against anyone that had been born and raised out in these lands. Her view of the world left her a little paranoid, that was for sure.
"M-me?" she asked, bright eyes following the lioness as she approached. What was she supposed to say to that? It sounded almost like she was being accused of something. She shifted to push herself up at least into a sitting position, hoping that if anything did go wrong, she could jump to her feet and run back into the density of the jungle. Surely this rogue, no matter how strong or toughened, couldn't follow her through there. It was a maze for anyone not familiar to the terrain.Ghali was both physically and mentally strong, but the price of that was that she was rough. She wasn't a female to mess with, which led to question exactly how she had let herself fall for Mafuriko. He was an attractive lion, but it made her sick to think that she had gotten pregnant by him. No physical attributes could ever cover for what the lion had done. Her very mother, attacked and died giving birth to that b*****d's children! She couldn't even feel love for her mother's children, for her brothers and her sisters. Yes, she loved her daughters... but her forgiveness and her love could only stretch so far. She approached Hateya quickly, though kept a fair distance from the startled lioness. Pausing, she remained standing as she addressed the other. "Yes, you," she snorted, the words being spoken with an irritated drawl. "I'm looking for a lion, Mafuriko is the name I know him by. He's got a more cream, even tan colored coat. A spiraled marking upon his shoulder." She didn't feel inclined to tell Hateya why she was searching for him. She didn't need to know. Hateya, adly, had never met any sort of rogues. She was sure there must have been some that visited the pride from time to time, but she never really concered herself with that. Besides that, she was pretty sure that the jungle kept almost all the rogues that might have wandered into their pride out. There was really no way to find it unless someone from the pride showed them the way or they got extremely, extremely lucky.
"I'm sorry, I've never heard of.. anyone by that name," she frowned at the lioness above her, rubbing her front paws into the dirt below her feet. "I won't be much help to you, I don't come out of the jungle that often I'm afraid, and.. and I've never even seen any rogues aside from you." She didn't want to be put to the question, so rambling about everything here and now seemed to be the best thing to do.

Her lips curled downwards in irritation at Hateya's answer. Of course, that would be her luck, to find a sheltered lioness who had barely even left the boundaries of her home. It didn't occur to her that she had been that way just months earlier. She had been sheltered and safe in the Pridelands, and then she had gotten pregnant, and then she had been shattered with the truth that her mom was attacked and had died giving birth to her children. Ghali had been thrust into the real world, she had decided to fend for herself while she went to search for her mother's killer. She had left behind her most beloved family, her friends... everything in the name of revenge.
She cursed lightly underneath her breath, eyes boring into Hateya's. Oh, she was angry, but more than that she was frustrated, and she was going to vent a little of her frustration out on this poor lioness. "You should be feeling more than sorry. You should be feeling pathetic for living your sheltered life, for not coming out here to see one bloody /murderer/. I hate lions like you, lions that don't know anything outside of their own comfort zone." She shook her head, growling low in her throat her frustration.
Hateya's ears drooped slightly as the lioness let out at a slurr of anger in her direction. She wasn't sure what she had done to deserve this, honestly. Was it realy because this lioness was disgusted with females like her, or was it because she was just mad that she was having no luck finding this male? She didn't know her story, not in the slightest, but Hateya certainly didn't like being spoken to that way. She was a princess for crying out loud.
"Look, lady," she said softly, pushing herself up to her feet, "I don't know who you are, or why you're so angry, but I haven't done anything wrong here." She lifted her head a bit, eyes unwavering despite the fact that she really did fear the lioness. "The only thing I've encountered out here in the roguelands is you, and everything is as nasty as you are, I think I'll just go back home."
Ghali laughed bitterly, because if this lioness thought she could talk to her that way, she was sorely mistaken. Months of frustration had boiled to this point, where she couldn't even truly tolerate anyone's presence. She wanted to find Mafuriko, she wanted to taste his blood and see him suffer the way her mother had suffered. Beyond that... she had no idea what she would do. She imagined she would return home with the good news that her mother's death had been avenged. It was too far ahead in the future to think about that, anyways. It was too difficult.
"Right, go on home, where you'll be coddled and safe. Let me tell you, princess," it was a deragatory nickname, spoken in an acidic tone, "You think you'll be safe home. Nothing wrong is going to happen to you. Nothing wrong could possibly happen to you. That's delusional." She was bitter, hurt from the news that Mafuriko hadn't been spotted in this area yet from the creatures she had interviewed. "I hope you go back home, and when something bad happens, think back to me. You'll feel what I feel now."
As she said the deragatory nickname, a flash of surprise flickered across Hateya's face. For a moment, she wondered if this lioness actually knew her status. Then, of course, reality hit her and she realized that it was just something she was using to try and degrade her. Sadly, it didn't really work when someone actually owned the title being used.
"Nothing bad ever happens in my pride," she said proudly, lifting her head again, "because no one can ever find it." She shook her head, letting out a long, deep sigh. She had wanted to see the world, but if it was full of this much hate and strife, she was content staying at home where she was loved and the pride was kind. There were a lot of things she could say right now, most of them downright mean and hateful, but that just wasn't her. "I hope that you find who you're looking for, and that the world shows you more kindness than you're showing it."
She stared levelly at Hateya, her very gaze defying the words that the princess had uttered. "How naive," she muttered spitefully, because she had believed the same of the Pridelands once upon the time. Sure, their boundaries were not as protected, but even evil could brew inside of a pride. Mafuriko was a born Pridelander, and yet he had dismantled her life. With a little sigh, she figured she shouldn't be wasting her time on the lioness. It would be better yet to let the creature suffer whatever fate befell her instead of giving her words of advice.
But, turning away from the lioness, she couldn't help the words that fell from his lips. "Evil doesn't always come from the outside." She didn't care for the lioness one bit, but she couldn't stand the thought of someone else ending up like her, bitter and vengeful. "I can assure you that he hopes I never find him. I'll leave now, princess, there's no point in my sticking around longer."

Hateya frowned at the words, though she didn't quite understand them. She supposed she wouldn't though, because it was whatever this lioness had experienced that was driving her onward. The words she spoke worried her, no doubt, especially with her paranoid mind, but she too knew that the safest place in the world was her pride. Why go to the rogue lands where she would have to worry about everything, not just this 'inward turmoil' this lioness described?
"Good luck," she murmured quietly, though she couldn't honestly admit at this point that she really hoped this lioness found whoever she was looking for. It seemed like a bad end for him. She didn't think anyone in life needed to be driven by hate. With a frown, she too turned, and slipped back into her jungle home. For once, the trees felt more like protection than they did a smothering barrier.
Ghali watched the lioness disappear into the thick expanse of the jungle, molding into the underbrush effortlessly, leaving Ghali to peer intensely into the entangled vines and bushes. She was gone, and Ghali was once again alone. It didn't bother her, as she had spurned all company and all comforts in favor of her search for Mafuriko. Her cubs had been too young to take on a journey, and her sister had to take care of them... Ghali couldn't drag anyone from their lives, not for her revenge.
With a small frown, she once again set out on her journey, eyes ahead of her, scanning the distance for the murderer of her mother. Aadil would be revenged, and she hoped Mafuriko would rot underneath the gods' disfavor for his crimes.
