Colton sighed and sat back in the booth that he'd reserved in a private room in a restaurant. He had called Mena and Eli and Noe - he'd even said Missy could come along - to let them know that he, as the father figure and the head (*ahem* supposedly) of household, wanted to have a nice family get-together before the wedding. "See, Zane, don't you think this will be nice?"
The kuppy was fidgeting in his seat. Kuro had yelled at him - again - for his job choice. Ciaran had said it was okay, but Kuro and his mother were the main resistance against his... erm, interests. "Sure, sure. Do I have to be here? Mom is going to be angry with me, even if I just sit here." He got a sharp glare from his father and stopped fidgeting; instead, the kuppy fiddled with the salt and pepper shakers.

Noe looked around at the fancy restraunt as she entered a bit apprehensive at first but soon she relaxed as she saw the head of her brother's fidgeting about in the booth her father reserved. Skipping up to them she took a seat next to her father clinging to his arm with a warm nudge of her cheek. "Hi daddy! What's with the sudden get together? We hardly spend time like this as a family..." then she thought a moment looking up. "Oh! Are you finally going to tell Zane he's adopted?" She smiled glaring at her brother from across the table noting his fidgeting nature. "Sit up straight Zaney, you're slouching too much, its bad for your posture."

Colton jumped a little in surprise, but then smiled as his daughter slid into the booth, kissing her cheek. "Hello, Noe. No, I'm not telling your brother he's adopted." By the look of sheer alarm on Zane's face, he knew the kuppy believed it. "You're not adopted, Zane."
The eldest of the trio was whimpering a little, but then sighed in relief and stuck his tongue out at his sister, though he did sit up straighter. "My posture is fine. Besides, Dad wanted to spend some quality time with us before the wedding. Though, I'm scared Mom's going to ban me from the ceremony because of my possible career choice..."

Speak of the devil; for who should appear after Zane's muttered statement but his mother herself, trailed by Eli, who was holding a certain piggy girl's hand firmly as the young girl pouted, over who knew what this time. "Good, we're not late," Mena said, sighing as she sat next to Noe. Eli and Missy went to sit on Zane's side, Eli very conscientiously sitting across from his mother so as to draw her ire away from both his twin and the still-pouting Missy. "I thought I'd never get Missy in the car."
Missy's frown got bigger, but she remained silent, crossing her arms.
Eli patted her on the head, and said only, "She didn't think she had anything nice enough to wear..." in a rueful tone. These days mostly a babysitter, it had been quite some time since he'd spent time with his siblings (besides Missy) or his parents.

Colton smiled as he saw the mother of (most) of his children and soon-to-be wife. "Hello, Mena, Eli," he said. "Missy, you look absolutely adorable. Please don't pout. You'll get wrinkles on your forehead." A lie, but it could possibly be true. "Let's take a few minutes and decide what we want to order and then we'll talk." He was finally starting to act dependable and like the true and loyal golden retriever whose genes he had in him.
Zane shrunk into the side of the booth, trying to pull his twin along with him for coverage. "Hi, Missy. Eli, help me," he whispered a little. "Mom's gonna be really angry with me when she finds out what I did." Zane, on the other hand, was acting more like his young father than either a goldren retriever or turkish angora.

Missy looked alarmed at Colton's statement, and quickly settled for a neutral expression. "I don't want wrinkles..." she said very quietly, eyes still wide.
Mena handed her a menu, and chuckled. "Then just don't pout. Smiling's all right. Now figure out what you want." She propped open her own menu, following her own advice.
Eli leaned over closer to Zane, and whispered back, "What did you do?" Curiosity had a tendency to get the better of him.

Zane bit his lip, wondering whether he could trust his brother with his secret. He surely couldn't trust Noe with it since she was always so clingy to their father. "Well... I sorta signed up for dance classes at this place down the street from where Kuro lives. It's not just any regular dance classes, though..."
Colton glanced through the menu and pondered a bit, nudging Noe and asking her advice on some things. "Salad or steak? Hmm... decisions, decisions."

Noe looked over her menu giving Missy a wink before picking a few things she liked off hand. "Salad of course with mandarin oranges. Umm..." Looking over the menu some more the stake sounded good but she couldn't resist, "Lets try some roasted ham, I hear its particularly good this season." Her sparkling eyes belied her need to teast Missy a bit, ever the 'big sister' she didn't mind upsetting the little piglet if only to get a rise but after a moment she set her menu down. "Steak is fine daddy and some lemon tea."
Turning her attention to her brothers she gave a slight pout kicking Eli's leg from under the table. "Hey! Stop whispering between you two. I hardly get to spend time with you." Looking off with an angry glare she turned and pouted. "So what have you been doing lately Sparkles?" Her personal nickname for the long haired twin.

Missy opened her mouth wide as if to give Noe a piece of her mind, but clamped it shut quickly when Noe went on to say steak was fine, and she realized her 'big sister' had been teasing her yet again. The look on her face would be amusing to any observer--her cheeks puffed up a bit with righteous indignation.
"Ah, we weren't talking about anything important~" Eli said, quick to cover for Zane. Wincing slightly at his sister's nicknames (yes, he did like sparklies, but that didn't mean he wanted people referring to him as one either), he said nonchalantly, "Oh, nothing much, just training that girl I told you about and working with Shimy on my abilities~"
Mena groaned. "Don't remind me about Miri. I keep hoping one of these days I'll come home and she'll have gone back to that weird place she comes from."
"It's the same weird place Gramma Shimy's from originally," Eli pointed out. "And she is helping Shimy, so..."
"As long as she doesn't talk, it's fine," the Turkish Angora woman said with another sigh, then glanced back at her menu. "Steak sounds good to me, too."

"Well if mother doesn't like her then chances are neither will I. Keep her at a distance I have enough dealing with one such brat we don't need more." She nods to herself giving a soft giggle toward Missy in return. "What are you having Missy?" She asked brushing her teasing manner aside long enough to be of a civil sort.
"I'm sure you'll want to eat something healthy to watch your figure for when you grow. Being a piggy doesn't help much either so you have a lot to work for, salads and light meats are a good sort. Fruits and veggies too. And stay away from grease covered foods and fattening snacks, try to eat sugar sparingly." Noe thinks a moment but then goes silent but then her thought came to mind. "Oh! I need to go shopping again. The season is changing and my winter cloths will be out dated. Mother can we possibly go to the shopping center? Missy needs new cloths too if she's pouting over her current things she'll want a new wardrobe for the spring." She gave a wink to the piglet waiting for an reply from her mother and hoping to get yet another credit card from her father.

"Miri's not a brat, she's just...going through a hard time..." Eli said, not expecting anyone to understand but feeling the need to champion the girl anyway.
"Moi always selects a healthy diet to best fit moi's lifestyle," Missy returned, not quite forgiving of her sister yet. At least until Noe brought up shopping, and taking her along to get new things. Then she lit up with excitement. "Yes, moi needs new spring clothing~ Also, since I'll be growing soon, I need to select outfits for then as well," she said with a nod.
"I don't mind a shopping trip," Mena said, bemused. "I could probably do with something new myself, it's been ages since I last shopped for new clothes."

"Yes mother! You need to update it isn't fitting for a bride-to-be to have an outdated wardrobe. Missy and I could probably give you an eye on suitable fashion that could catch Daddy's attention over and over again..." She thinks a moment then claps her hands together. "We should bring the boys along though we'll need someone to hold our things." She suggests smiling wickedly toward Zane. "Isn't that right Zaney?"

Zane had grown silent when Noe had caught them whispering, but at this prospect, he whimpered. "But... but... I already carried your bags once! Isn't it Eli's turn or something?" He clearly didn't want to step in his mother or sister's way when they knew what they wanted: clothes. The kuppy clung to Missy a little bit. "Why doesn't big brother Zane just stay at home? You know? Why doesn't he just keep his big mouth shut?"
Colton chuckled and patted his daughter's shoulder. "You can bring the boys along, but I have some things that I have to do. Uhm, mysterious father and husband things that nobody can no about." AKA wedding things. "So, have fun." The puppy grinned and caught Zane's eye, giving him a stern look that said, 'Don't you dare try and get out of this one or I will remind your mother about your career choice.'

"Yay! Thank you daddy!" Noe squealed giving the man a kiss on the cheek and flashing a triumphant bratty smile at her brother. "Both of you will join us it will be easier for us if you hold our things. Don't worry we won't have that much." A lie but she wasn't want to know how much she'd get. It could be two items or twenty you just never knew with Noelani.
The waiter came over to take their orders and scurried away just as quickly to place them. Noe arched a brow at Zane wondering what Eli and him were whispering about. At this point she decided to voice her curious question. "Hey what were you guys whispering about anyway? Is it too top secret for the rest of the family to know..." She pouted. "I could help out too you know. I'm not without my resources."

Eli shrugged at the others. "I really don't mind helping to carry stuff...I can probably manage it, Zane doesn't have to come if he doesn't want to..."
Mena laughed at her daughter's enthusiasm. "I'm sure you'll be of great help, Noe...you and Missy both." She was intensely curious as to what 'father/husband' things Colton was referring to, but she knew that, when Colt went to the trouble of trying to surprise her, it was usually worth it to just wait to be surprised. Sometimes he needed reminders, but...she smiled, remembering his 'proposal' at Gen. Yeah, she'd trust him on this one.
Melisande patted Zane's arm and said only, in a matter-of-fact tone, "It's a skill you'll just have to master with practice."
