Switch was in for day three of her attempted cleanup of the Curio shop. Today, she opted that Kay stayed home with Kale for the day, since having the Mask boy in the shop the day prior nearly drove her insane. If he wasn't looking through all the items and making a bigger mess of the place, he was PRETENDING to clean and still making a bigger mess of the place. So it was just Switch, standing in a giant Curiosities shop with a bandanna tied around her head to cover her mouth and nose. It was dusty, and she was somewhat of a germaphobe!

Her method for cleaning had long since changed; instead of cleaning one section at once, she was going to find every last item of a certain type and organize that way! Today's targeted items was anything that was disgusting or creepy.

That meant she had to dig out that Shrunken Head in formaldehyde on one of the shelves (she found it on her first day back to the shop; it scared her so badly she fell off of a ladder), and the mummified, human-made Mermaid (a mummified child's torso on a mummified fish's tail. Kay found it the day prior and it was still on the desk). Anything after that would be a new find!

She left her cleaning supplies in the middle of the free space near the front of the shop, and she wandered down the first aisle, looking over and through any item she could, to look for something that was disgusting.

Oliver Jones was in a hurry. He had heard rumours about this curiosity shop, one where you could find almost anything, and he was looking for something in particular.

Oh yes, something very particular indeed. Because he had been dating Miss Bunny Hart for a week now, and though her head was emptier than a black hole, she professed to love Shakespeare, especially that, uh, that new movie adaption with Brad Fitt. So though he knew she was pretending, it sure helped him into her good graces if he pretended to be a Shakespeare scholar. And it didn't have to be for a long time, either, just long enough for him to get what he wanted, her to get bored of him, and then it would all be over like a pleasant dream. He smirked, it was really just too easy...

But he needed a few Shakespeare books, and the older they looked the better. So this curio shop, it would surely have something like that. They all did, they had loads of old books, right? He barged in, looking around hastily. "Hello?" he demanded, waiting to be served.

Switch was in the process of very carefully removing an anaconda's shedded skin from under a pile of junk when someone burst into the shop and demanded her attention. She was almost too happy to leave the snake skin alone in favor of wandering back towards the front of the shop. A quick glance around showed her that there was just one man, and he looked to be in a hurry.

"Hello, welcome to Balcombe Curiosities. How can I help you?" Switch said rather calmly, wiping her hands on a towel she had slung over her shoulder. The blue haired woman was still covered in dust, but at least it wasn't as bad as it had been. Her green eyes remained fixed on the new comer.

Oliver turned his head around rapidly as someone addressed him, sizing her up. Not bad, he decided. Not as good looking as Bunny, whose lack of brains was made up for with other distinctly attractive advantages, but not bad. Nice eyes, but nice eyes weren't the first thing a man looked for in a woman. "Book." he spit out rapidly. "I'm looking for old Shakespeare books, any you have, I'll buy them all, any price." He looked around the shop himself before she could answer. The shop seemed to be in what could politely be called chaos, and in frustration he seethed "How the hell do you find anything here, lady?" He didn't have time for this!

Switch's eyes narrowed when the male decided to look her over. She was about to sarcastically compliment him on his being articulate when he decided to clarify what he was looking for. It'd been a long few days, she was getting irritable with the dust. Instead of a biting comment she merely smiled nicely and slid her hands into her jean pockets. "I'm bound to have a few..." With that she turned and walked away from him, disappearing down one of the aisles. Despite the shop being chaos, there was some semblance of order when it came to books. Though there were still a lot of books scattered everywhere.

The aisle she was in started to look like a library the further down she went. "Ugh, I find it by accident usually." She grumbled rather seriously. "I've been trying to clean this place for three days straight and I've gotten nowhere!" If it was possible, she sounded more frustrated than he did. "And my name is not 'lady', its Switch. Switch Gear." Her introduction was said as an afterthought, her gaze skimming the dusty ling of books on one side of the table.

"You can help look if you like, might go faster if there are a second pair of eyes." She hummed out, pulling an old copy of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' from the shelf and holding it against her for safe keeping.

Weird name. Oliver shrugged and went over to help her, pulling out books unceremoniously. "Oliver Jones." he said, tossing aside The Great Gatsby with little more than a glance. "And pardon me for not being more chatty, but I really need this book or my night will go a lot differently from how I planned it..." His frenzied and haphazard search was destructive, and pretty soon the books would lose whatever order they had if he didn't stop. Finally, he yelped. "Ow!" Sucking his finger, he glared at the book that had given him a papercut and his eyes widened. "This!" he said, waving it at Switch. "This thing is Shakespeare, right? How much is it?" The book looked incredibly old, but things didn't break in Oliver's world, and if they did he just waved it away and bought a new one. He didn't like old things. Old things were expensive, but not flashy.

"Sounds like you got a hot date with an Intellect." Switch commented idly, if not snidely. "Either that or you've got a strange fetish." An irritable and tired Switch was...a little bit of a b***h, to say the least. This man rubbed her all the wrong ways already! "Also, if you keep treating the books like that, not only will Karma get you, but you'll be making this shop more of a mess." This time, her comments seemed much nicer.

The instant he cut his finger, that strange pulse vibrated through her, causing her to look up instantly. This guy, seriously? Him?! Well, whatever. Switch had no guarantee over what type of person got the items with the will to live; if it happened, it happened because the item chose something about them. Or so she liked to think.

"Yeah, its Shakespeare." Came her agreemet after she browsed the title and decor of the book. "Its one of his Quartos, and you can have it for f-" Her first thought was to say "five hundred", but something grabbed her tongue and held it for the moment until the notion of charging him fled. "Free." She finished her sentence, almsot disappointedly. "You can have it for free."

"Not exactly." he snickered, thinking of Bunny's vacant stare. "But she sure likes to think she is." As for Karma, he snorted derisively. "Karma can do whatever the hell it wants. I don't happen to believe that some magical force can make me change for the better."

Her jolt made him suspicious, but he chalked it down to being nervous around men. She must be one of those shy types. "Great, a quarto, huh?" The poor girl was offering it to him for free. Obviously he had been more charming than he had thought, and feeling bad, he reached into his wallet. "No, I can't do that." he said flippantly. "It's pretty old though... And kind of falling apart. You should take better care of your stuff," said the man who had been throwing books to the ground a few moments earlier. "So lets say five dollars?" He held the money out to Switch. "Consider it a tip if you have to." He put it on a book before she could argue and picked up the quarto. "Seeya later!"

Six hours later he would find out Bunny had gotten bored of him too soon. And a little after that the karma he didn't believe in would really deal him a surprising blow indeed...

"Hm." Was all Switch said in reply to his comment about not believing in Karma. One thing led to another and her gaze drifted down towards a five dollar bill that was put onto one of the books. His comments about taking care of things made her frown in frustration, and her green eyes were still narrowed in distaste when she lifted her gaze to meet his.

"THERE AREN'T ANY RETURNS OR REFUNDS!" She yelled out after him, once he went outside the shop. "Jerk." Switch grumbled to herself, her gaze moving back towards the five that he'd left behind. Putting the book she was holding back onto the shelf, she wandered towards the front of the shop to grab a pair of tongs and a garbage bag.

With the tongs she grabbed the man's five dollar bill, and it was quickly disposed of in the garbage bag. "I should burn it...but I don't want the items to get smoke damage." She bitched to herself.
