Iris gave a contented sigh, leaning back against her bonded's stormy blue-grey side. The cold had forced her to wear a heavy coat, contrary to her nature, but she hated to stay indoors when so much bright beauty waited in the frozen winter peace. It was only a matter of time before spring would come around again, bringing the deadly centipedes along with it. She intended to enjoy every moment of peace this quiet season...
Quit moving you big fidget!
I...wasn't moving... Silversoul's voice sounded decidedly sleepy, which rather proved he was telling the truth. But what fun would that be to a young wolfrider bored silly? A disgruntled Iris pouted. You did too move.
No reply, only a smug sort of feeling was projected her direction as the five-year-old Gamma rolled in the other, leaving his hapless rider sprawled in the snow. Half-heartedly kicking a white spray at him, she stood and dusted her powdery clothing.
Oh, be that way. If only he would get up and do something with her. They hadn't taken a run in...well...two hours. Some odd cold-weather agitation of Iris' had kept the pair busy all day, up and down hills, through streams, until traveled the entire distance to White Shadow. Even Silversoul's forgiving tolerance was worn thin. I think I will be. He was shortly fast asleep in a snowdrift.
Feeling deserted, Iris gave a false sniff and patted the sleeping wolf's head. Sleep tight. Oh, wasn't there anyone to talk to, or run around with, or something other to relieve her boredom?

Miri had had a hard time sleeping, especially with Darkwind continuously whining about going outside. She sighed, getting dressed, and she stepped into the cold, winter air. Taking a deep breath and letting it out fast, she looked as her warm breath against the chilling air causing smoke-like stuff to drift around for a little before the breath became to cold and disappeared into the dark night. Miri looked around for Dark, who blended well with the night. You still there? Miri asked Dark through her mind. In return, Dark had playfully butted her left side, knocking her into the soft, puffy snow. "Hey!" she protested before she quickly realized that she had yelled out loud and possibly woken someone. Dark put a paw over her mouth.
Get up and let's go over there.Dark gestured with her head towards the opposite direction of the fort. I think I heard something.
Miri replied, annoyed You know it might be easier if you get off of me! Grunting, she moved Dark's paw and got up. Mounting Dark, she ran off towards the direction Dark had indicated.

A loud shout startled Silversoul awake, and in an instant he stood at Iris' side, tensed and wide awake. Who's there? The voice had been unmistakably human, but he asked the air just in case, sending the thought out through the growing darkness. Waiting for a reply, he idly wondered how he'd managed to fall asleep outside the White Shadow fort, half buried in snow. You're making me do strange things these days, he told his bonded, accompanied by an image of her with a whip and him on two legs. I never would have fallen asleep like this two years ago. He tried to sound irritated, but fondness played at the edges of the thought.
Iris laughed softly. You know you enjoy the exercise as much as I do. He still stood, hackles up like a frightened cat. Relax, Silver. White Shadow wolves are no scarier than those rowdy devils you used to play with when you were barely more than a pup. Really, he worried too much for her safety.
You'll thank me someday when I save you from a mad wolf...or rider, he retorted with a little twitch of one ear to show he was playing. Meanwhile, I believe we have company.

"Is anyone there?"Miri said, her voice wavering. She rubbed her eyes a little with her cold hand, trying to see if that would help any slight bit with her eye sight. She glanced slightly over to Darkwind, to see if she sensed anything. She could feel her eyes closing, and snapped them back open. Her sleepiness wasn't helping with her sight. She asked Dark DO you recognized them? No. But they are from New Eve. I can recognize the scent. Miri nodded.
Dark could see two figures in front of them to some distance, unlike Miri. She sniffed, and could tell that they were from New Eve and meant no harm for her nor Miri. She approached the figures in front of them, a female private and a male gamma. She demanded roughly, trying to make up for the courage that Miri lacked. "Who are you and why are you here?"

((Keep it primarily wolves, maybe? That way if we want to make it for Valentines, we have that option open...))
Slightly surprised and put off by the strange female's slight hostility, Silversoul paused a moment before replying in a calm, relaxed manner. I am Silversoul of New Eve... he thought for a moment on a polite sort of title, ...miss. He prided himself on having humanlike manners, for whatever the odd reason. As for why I am here... he sent her an image of his human, accompanied by a mild, fond sort of disgust. My two-legger is restless.
Within moments his keen eyes picked out the form of a small, slender female with her human astride. Unless the space between them deceived him, she was even smaller than him. The darkness cloaked any further detail from view.
And who, might I ask, are you?
Iris felt her partner's mind withdraw slightly to converse with their new "company" and regained her focus on the strangers, vaguely hearing his private relay of the information--that a female pair approached. Straining her eyes through the dark cloak of night, she picked out the vague form of a wolf and rider, but nothing more. Hello?

Miri stretched on the back of Dark's back. She was tired, though she doubt she should be tired and should be dealing with the two strangers. She yawned. Trusting Dark to handle the situation appropriately, she told Dark Good night Dark... and with that, she fell asleep, one arm secured around the neck of Dark and the other hanging loosely by her side, grazing the snowy ground.
Dark sighed as Miri fell asleep. "I am Darkwind of White Shadow but you may call me Dark. And this is my rider, Mirisua who has just fallen asleep. Dark let out a kind of wolfish sigh. She walked into the moonlight, as to get a closer look at the strange male gamma wolf. Dark saw a grayish wolf but not much details. She looked at him with a questioning glance. "What do you want to do? Wait for the morning? Go to White Shadow fort? Go back to New Eve?"

Silversoul dipped his head deeply towards the younger wolf, slightly contrary to any usual wolf behavior. After all, he was a sight older than her, but his respect for females had extended well beyond his bonded. I am honored to meet you, Darkwind. Something about her offered nickname didn't quite set right with him. But might I know you as Darkwind? Such a beauty surely harbors no darkness within. His blue-grey eyes held no trace of flattery, only sincere courtesy and friendliness.
And perhaps a hint of besotten puppylove. Iris kept a straight face that hid her thought, and the growled response was a rumble so slight she felt more than heard it, and surely no one else could hear. Silver, it's decidedly late, we've run all day, and I think I shall seek the hospitality of the Fort. Giving no indication that she remembered she had been the cause of their wild run here, Iris dismounted with a friendly nod and wink towards Darkwind. "Have fun with Silver--he's an honor-bound knight who couldn't be paid to harm a lovely female like you." Ignoring said knight's glare, she retreated indoors where it was warmer and saner.
When Iris was gone, the young male turned back to his new acquaintance. It appears I've no choice but to remain until my human sees fit to return. His voice held perhaps the slightest trace of excitement, as though leaving was the last thing he would like anyhow. In the meantime, I would be delighted to enjoy your company, if you are not otherwise occupied.

Dark blinked. "I need to drop off Miri at her barrack first, then I'll meet you..."Dark thought of a big landmark that both could see from where they were. "Uhm... how about we meet under that big oak tree, Silversoul?"she said, gesturing with her left paw towards the tree located at the left of the fort, which had been prettier during the fall and more noticeable, but it was still one of the biggest landmarks he could think of near White Shadow fort. "It's a bit far away from the fort, but we can have some privacy there. She then bowed her head and said, "It's a pleasure to meet you, Silversoul. I'm sorry about the circumstances right now, but I shall be back. And I'm sorry if my manner has insulted you in any way." She ducked apologetically under a tree's branch and ran off.
Darkwind took off after that towards the fort. Once she got into Miri's and her barrack, she plopped Miri onto the bed softly and pulled the covers over Miri, with Dark's teeth. "I'll let her sleep like that...she thought. Though she doubt that Miri could hear her, she said Good night Miri...Sleep tight, don't let the centipedes bite. After that, she slipped through the door quietly before she took off towards the great tree that she had indicated before to Silversoul, whom she had had a great pleasure meeting.

Inclining his head slightly to acknowledge her suggestion, Silversoul turned to quickly note the location of the tree before returning his focus to the small female. There is no need to apologize--there are enough dark souls to keep any female on guard. He winced at his wording and quickly added, Not that females are in any way less capable of taking care of themselves. Feeling awkward, he watched her leave before setting off at an easy trot to the dark shape of the tree.
Darkwind had chosen a lovely spot. Even the male could appreciate the quiet beauty of the solemn trees, the broad starry sky spread out just beyond the furthest reaches of the tree's branches, and the fresh green scent. He found a patch of grass among the broad, snake-like roots and stretched out to wait. After a moment he sought out Iris' half-asleep mind and nudged it. Perhaps I ought to admit it...Iris, I have the oddest feeling... He'd never had any sort of relationship with a female besides Iris before, and seeing Darkwind had awakened a strange sort of longing he'd never known before...

Dark saw Silversoul's head under the shadows. She panted slightly, but enjoyed the cool wind as she made her way to Silversoul. For once, Dark could see rainbow-gray pelt glistening in the silvery moonlight. She smiled as she approached him. His pelt seemed to shine and glow under the tree.
"So... I haven't talked to many male wolves before." she said apologetically when she got to Silversoul. "So.. anything you want to talk about?"She had a strange feeling, as she talked to Silversoul, not that it was a bad feeling, but it was something that she had never experienced before.

The moon had risen, a waxing crescent that shone softly among the stars that cast a forlorn, gentle light across the world below. The night spoke of peace, and a sad touch of consideration for those who had passed on... Silversoul watched the dark silhouettes of a few fruit bats on their way out into the night, but the instant a movement below caught his eye he stood, watching Darkwind approach. The pale moonlight shone against her dark blue fur, complimenting its color and illuminating the paler markings. He drew a quick breath--she was the most stunningly beautiful creature he'd ever seen.
Suddenly she was beside him and the usually composed, polite young Gamma had run out of words. Flustered and embarrassed, he struggled to meet her soft blue eyes when he spoke. I...neither have I. He winced, feeling idiotic and corrected quickly I mean--I haven't talked to many females... He caught himself staring, looked away, and feeling rude looked up again. For lack of a better question, he asked How long have you been bonded? Something friendly he chided himself. I mean, do you know how beautifully your eyes glisten in the starlight?
Immediately he wished he could vanish, or stick his head in the ground like some silly bird. He sounded like some lovestruck adolescent puppy! I...forgive me. I know not what came over me.

Dark gently butted Silversoul in the shoulder. "Aww, it's okay." she said sweetly and smiled at him. Something about Silversoul always made Dark smile on the inside, ever since she met him a few minutes ago. " Hm... we haven't been bonded for that long. About...let see... 9 months?"
Dark gazed up into into Silversoul's eyes. She felt like she can see so much in there, his feelings, so much. She then realized that she must have been gazing intently at him. "I'm so sorry.she said, feeling the skin beneath her fur burn.

Suddenly they were both gazing at each other, the pause in conversation passing unnoticed. He didn't stop to realize that he'd only just met her, or to consider the tossings and turnings of his emotions, but longed to close the short distance between him and Darkwind. Then she broke her gaze, turning away with an expression of innocent embarrassment. Even then she was the loveliest creature on earth.
There is nothing to apologize for, he murmured, enraptured in the moment of moonlight and pure love. I would...very much like to get to know you better. And be together with you forever... He sat now, contented in the darkness beneath the trees with one who'd captured his emotions, heart, and soul.

Dark was thinking what to say to Silversoul when a voice in her head interrupted her.
You should just admit it you fool.
"Miri! What are you doing? I thought you were asleep! And how come you heard all of that?"
Miri sighed. "I heard everything because you were talking to me and you didn't know it while you were talking to Silversoul. As for why I'm awake, I fell off my bed...anyways, just admit to him. I'm going back to bed...
Dark somewhat nodded, though she knew that Miri could not see. She walked over to Silversoul and said, "Can I ask you something?"
OOC: fyi, Dark is being careless and accidentally sending his thoughts to Miri as well (just incase Starr, Shikai or someone else read this)

Silversoul blinked. But of course. Her voice had broken through his confused haze of thoughts, sweet and inquiring. I could not refuse anything to such a lovely companion. His eyes held nothing but sincerity, and love that he could not hide. For all his five years, he had never experienced anything of this sort before, and knew not how to control his feelings.
How had it all happened so fast? One moment she was a stranger, a shadow in the shadows of the night, and within an hour he had known her for eternity, or so he could easily have believed. She was precious to him, someone to cherish and protect, he realized. Was this love?
