If you want to play all you really need is some ork models. You'll need at least one vehicle of some sort (usually a trukk, but it could also be a buggy, trakk or several bikes) and at least three ork models - you need a Nob, at least one Spanner (kinda like a trainee Mek) per vehicle, any number of Boyz and up to half your mob can be made of Yoofs (young orks).

You know GW released a PC version of this a while back. I didn't hear about it until recently though. It looks something like a 40k version of Mario Cart though, or at least that's what the review I read made it out to be. Still looks fun though. I've no clue about how the original game works though! sweatdrop

Ah Gorkamorka one of the classic games- basically for those who are out of the loop it was a game set on a desert world well rival bands of orks battled each other for scrap from the space hulk that crashed when the oks arived.

Was fun as well being skirmish based and not too serious- was the pinicle of the sprit of old GW before it got all dreary and corprate

It was comparable to "Necromunda played on a large table with vehicles". It was the origin of the new Ork origins (fungus, not marsupials), and used the second edition Orks stats (somewhere in between a Marine and a Guardsman, and just as good as shot as they were in close combat).

They also released new models for Orks then, but they looked like complete and utter crap except for the Nobz and Grotz. They're the boyz that can be seen driving most the vehicles nowadays, that I inevitably replace.

i don't think the use of second Ed stats is a bad thing in my view second ed 40K is of better quality (in temrs of rules at least) then new 40K. also the Gorkamorka orks were precursours to the new orks-just to let you know

but this is just my opinion.

Believe me, I'm fully aware of the evolution of Space Orks in the hobby. mrgreen

So recent events have renewed my interest in 40k (despite all efforts to the contrary) so I've decided to give my Ork army a decidedly Gorkamorka bent when I get home: desert bases, mutie raiders 'counts as' allied kroot tracker kindred, diggas 'counts as' grots, rebel grots 'counts as' more grots, rebel grot tanks 'counts as' warbuggies, etc.

I've even contemplated starting a Necron army and playing them as Angelis Night Haunters... (Climbing up from the sand, monolith as egyptian-style pyramid...)

And for completion's sake...

...I'm not quite sure what we were disagreeing on, if anything at all. sweatdrop
