Altair stood a few feet off from the edge of a nearby pond, nibbling at the grasses though he wasn’t all that hungry. Out in the water his feathered friend, Dove, was out splashing and diving in the water. He always planned trips to any source of nearby water just for her. This new land was different but it wasn’t all that bad so far. He still had his friend and that was all he really needed, the rest he could get used to eventually. It was a bit surprising that no one else was around. It was quiet, just the way he liked it but he still expected at least a few others wandering about. Oh well.
“C’mon Dove, you’ve had you’re fun.” The winged stallion watched as the goose that so much resembled him pretended not to hear him and continued on to the middle of the pond. One downside of always bringing her to water was that she never listened when it was time to leave. She was like a child and yet he always put up with it. With a sigh and a grunt he plopped down on the grass to keep watch until she was ready to be persuaded into leaving. Who knew when that would be. It varied every day and she seemed to stay longer and longer each time. It wouldn’t surprise him if she made him move into a new home right next to some body of water.

Bodhisattva glided gracefully downwards. She saw a pond beneath her, the still waters beautifully reflecting the sky above. She loved ponds like those... ponds that when she looked down into them made her feel as if she was suspended in an infinite sky.
She glided down lower, seeing something near the edge. Was that another soquili? It had the look of one. A small smile crossed her face. If it was another soquili, she'd give it a bit of a show. Bodhi swooped suddenly downwards towards the water below her and flared her wings just in time to keep herself from plummeting into the water. She skimmed barely above the surface and with each downturned wing beat the tips of her wings brushed against the water's glassy surface. She flew parallel to the shore and then veered inwards only when she had sufficiently passed the place near where the other soquili stood.
She made her landing on the shore and flicked the last droplets of water from her wings. "Hello there," she finally trilled at the stranger. "And who might you be?"

Altair watched as the mare swooped down out of no where and skimmed across the surface of the water, nearling scaring all the feathers off Dove, which only made him laugh as the goose scrambled out of the water faster than he'd seen her move in a long time. As the swooping mare came up to him, Dove had something to say before he could offer a greeting. "Who do you think you are missy?? Someone needs to teach you some manners! You don't just do a fly by and scare the living daylights out of an innocent bystander!" Altair leaned down to whisper to the goose and finally convinced her to waddle off back to the water.
"Give her a bit to get her feathers settled since they're a little ruffled right now. I'm Altair and my friend is Dove. Sorry for her little outburst but you did startle her quite a bit." His lips twitched into a smile. "It was a show to watch though, she doesn't scare easily."

The goose's unexpected outburst surprised Bodhi but did not overly shake her poise. She hadn't met many birds that spoke with soquili and had never even heard of a goose that did. It was strange... as strange and interesting as how well the goose matched her companion. While Altair was introducing himself she took that moment to look him over. He was a wind soquili and wore an interesting mask upon his face. The feather that bobbed up from it was such a fine addition that it brought a smile to Bodhi's face. She had an appreciation for a well placed feather.
"My name is Bodhisattva," she said with that same smile on her face. "And I'm sorry if I scared your friend." Her tone was apologetic but with an air of loftiness about it. "I did not think that I would scare anyone, merely..." Her eyes twinkled merrily. "Merely perhaps give both of you something to admire?"

Altair raised a brow at her introduction. "That's quite a name. Do you have something shorter I could call you by? I fear I might butcher your full name if I try and say it." He smiled apologetically. He didn't know exactly what exactly she was refering to when she said 'give them something to admire'. It could have been her little acrobatic routine...Or a trick meaning her herself. "Well uh, you sure know how to fly. You've got impressive wings as well." He studied her colors closely, they were natural colored for the most part, but not horsebreed. "Are you by chance related to someone who looks similar to a bird? Your markings, mostly around the feet resemble a bird's pattern." It would be nice to know someone who was like him in resembling birds. Even if she didn't directly resemble one, it was close enough.

"You can call me Bodhi," she said in smooth response to his first inquiry. At the mention of her leg markings she stretched one out before her so she could examine it without having to bend over. "You think my markings look like a bird's?" She laughed in a musical trill. "I don't know whether to call your guess about my parents an especially good one or an especially poor one."
She flipped her mane out of her eyes, continuing with a smile. "These markings come from my father, whose feathers are the only things birdlike about him." She tilted her head slightly downwards to better showcase the feathers which she was referencing. "But my mother does have the markings of a bird. Of a song sparrow." It was from her mother that her base color and her inclination to sing came from as well.

"Ah, I see. Well it's a lovely combination for you, Bodhi." Well so much for conversation. Altair wasn't the best for keeping up conversations. Starting them, possibly. Ending them, he was very good at. "Well um..Would you care for a swim?" He stepped into the shallows of the pond and waded out a little ways. "Don't worry, I'm sure Dove will keep her distance from you, just in case." He chuckled and swam out a little further, ruffling his wings in the water almost like how a bird takes a bath in water.
((Yeeeaaahhh that's a pretty lame post, sorry >.<))

((Whatever! I can work with it! ^^))
"A swim would be refreshing after all the flying," Bodhi admitted. She watched Altair as he began to make his way out over the lake. She couldn't help but giggle when she saw the way he carried himself through the water like a bird. Just as her mother followed the song sparrow's musical inclinations it seemed like this one followed his patron animal's swimming ones.
She stepped slowly into the water and let herself get used to the chill before advancing further. She enjoyed the floating sensation that swimming had always given her. It was almost like a lazy sort of flying. She quickened her pace to swim up beside Altair and from there smiled at him. "You must be as adept in the water as I am in the air, from the looks of it."

Altair smiled to her as he floated through the water, kicking his legs every now and again to keep himself up. "Sure you could say that. I don't live in the water but I do enjoy it on occasion. Definitely not as much as she does though," he said as he motioned to the bird a ways off in the water. It was nice not to just have someone to talk easily with but also go for a refreshing swim. Most back where he came from wouldn't touch the water. 'It might ruin their hair'. Pfft if they couldn't enjoy getting wet and taking the consequences that came with that they weren't worth his time. Sure his hair may look a little scraggly to some but if it was brushed it looked decent enough.
"So have you been flying a lot today? Is your home far from here or something? I figured most lived in the general area but this place is certainly proving to be a bigger land than I expected."

"I have been flying a lot today," Bodhi admitted while she continued to tread water. "But that is hardly out of the ordinary. Flying and singing are my two joys." She put more of her music into her last statement, proving its truth with a twinkle in her eye. She did indeed love to both fly and sing, oftentimes simultaneously. She pitied the soquili who could do neither of those things. It must be a poor thing to be stuck on the ground with no way to express oneself.
"My home isn't very far but I do enjoy venturing a ways away from it at times." These adventures would sometimes last an afternoon and every once in a while as long as a week. She had never gone longer than that and didn't imagine that she would anytime soon. She liked her freedom, but she also liked her family.

"Makes sense, why not do something you love?" He smiled and continued swimming through the water, letting his wings fan out on top of the surface as he went. "I also enjoy flying, it's another time when you can just get away from everything. Let the wind whip through your mane and just the feeling of flying and gliding through the air is worth it everytime. Swimming is a good one too, but it takes a bit more work them flying, keeping your legs moving so you don't drown. Still relaxing though."
Altair just nodded as she spoke, not really knowing what it was like to have a home to go back to since he hadn't found one yet. Every single day was an adventure for now until he and Dove found that right spot that they both could enjoy. With quiet and of course a nearby water source.

"True, true," said Bodhi to the comments of her companion. Her legs still tread water beneath her and she took that opportunity to look down into the water in which she was floating. It was clearer than she would have thought and she saw shadows moving across the surface. What were those shadows caused by? Birds? What birds made those odd flitting motions?
It was when she saw one cross beneath her she realized that the shadows were not coming from above... but from below! "Fish!" she laughed with delight. "Look at the little fish swimming around us!" Her carefully maintained poise was wavering and it broke entirely when she felt them brush against her underbelly. "They tickle!" She began to laugh... an action that caused her to lose balance in the water. With a laughing gasp she rolled over in the water, only righting herself after a moment of ungraceful flailing of her wings.
By this point her windswept hair was soaked and clung in strands to the side of her face and neck. "Don't you dare say anything!" she warned Altair with a breathless grin. "Just don't even say anything!"

Altair couldn't help but laugh at her momentary relapse of poise and just continued on swimming as fish brush along his legs. Swimming as often as he did, he was used to the slippery creatures brushing against him. It was when the bigger creatures that lived below made themselves known that had him freaking out. "Why would I say anything? Or what would I say anything about?" He made his way over to where she was and swiped at the strands on her face with a wing. "The sun will dry it out and you'll be good as new." With a smile he headed back towards shower, ruffling his wings and shaking out his coat to get the water off. "Everyone gets startled once in a while, no need to be embarrased about it." Even if it was amusing.
