The lives of dragons are not the only ones that follow the seasons.
To eat, drink, and make merry.
To live, lie, and love.

In the southwest lies a city in the throws of revelry. Music, food, carts lining the streets with goods one only sees two or three times a year. It is a couple of full days of celebrating the harvest and the last few few nights before the cold season.

Whether they live by the sword, coin, parchment, or sickle, even under the shadow of the larger beings to the West, they find time to remember what it is they are living for.

Welcome to the human's side of Dragon Bound.

A Word While Out-of-Character:
For those of you here from the out-of-guild event for the tarot readings for characters, you are in the right place. Yes, you must role play a character for the reading to occur. If you just walk in and post "I want a reading!" I will either boot you or Matilda will simply tell you that the cards are not being cooperative and will tell you that doing a reading for you is impossible.

If you want a quick reading, go back to the event thread. Here is where you are more likely to get bonus cards and perks for role playing though.

Remember, this setting is a small city in the Border Territories. Unbound human characters, bound humans who don't bring their dragons with them, and disguised fae will be able to ask for a reading at Matilda's stall with relatively no trouble during the daylight hours. Those who need to keep their identities hidden from commoners, bound humans who have smaller dragons that will fit in her house, and vampires can approach Matilda's house at night.

After the out-of-guild event is done, this thread will remain open to continue and run alongside the role play Soma Ru Palmos (aka the 'SRP'.)

The festivities were already underway. A twirl of color and clapping reverberated from one side of the town center over a troop of troubadours while another wafted the smells of roasting meat over a spit. Cheering and roaring burst into the air from a few a few buildings away.

"Another race over. I wonder if Tamet won?"

Matilda continued past the crowds, ignoring the rest of the thunderstorm of voices coming from the cockatrice track. Tearing a piece of from the drumstick in her hand, she savored the flavorful food as she threw one last glance at the upbeat dancers. Maybe she'd get in another dance later. They were her favorite part of the festival, even over the food, but they always let in the memories...

Tossing the last cherry in her mouth, she picked up her skirts and picked up the pace. She'd been away from her stand long enough. Raff would probably make some joke about finally having been swept away by a big hunk in armor and a sword.

And look, there he was, grinning like an idiot from his seat in the next stall over.

Yup, it was coming alright. Foolish man, but probably one of the few who understood that after her husband's death, there was going to be no other.

"So, Matilda, from what exotic corner of the world did this one sweep you off your feet?" Raff chuckled and teased as she ducked behind her stall and looked over the wares she had left behind. She mostly dealt with the small trinkets that she'd buy off travelers, tapestries, and her card and rune readings - at least over the table.

Behind closed doors and after nightfall, the customers with more coin and more to lose came to look for the more dicey items and information she had to pander. Raff already knew of all this though.

She swallowed the remaining bits of chicken in her mouth. "Enough, Raff," she chided, trying to hide the smile at his jest. "There are others around that do not want to hear your indecent and far-fetched tales."

(And we are now open... wink )

-The sunsets as the fires begin to light the fair grounds and four silhouettes look upon the activity as Twilight begins.-

"You know this is not my kind of idea of fun Roman."
-A short thin male with a beautiful completion says in a saffron dress shirt that was open down the chest that looked fairly baggy considering it didn't fit him, with tight pants with a few daggers attached to the side. and has a strong unamused look.-

"Leo what is your idea of Fun Lord Secret Dark"

-The tall Red head that hand spiked hair and a rat tail that was close to the same height as his body that was carefully braided with beads and feathers. Wearing a better fitted Dressed shirt that fit him in a coal black and he had several coin bags on his side with a empty bag for trinkets and such. His eyes were blood red and had strong passion behind them as his pale skin matched his friend's. He glance at the woman in his arms next to his side that looked strongly almost similar to the famous Ranger Jay except she was wearing a dress, hair was upbraided, as well there were not one scratch on her.-

"Besides the girls wanted to get some fresh air."

-The Ranger look a like smiled-
"Besides I needed something fresh to get my energy.. Roman just been such a bore since things settle down at the house, always reading and writing now... and you Leo won't even let me have a little bit of a taste of a vampire that lived longer than possibly Kiru."
-And the voice matched just the same as Jay's-

-off to the side of Leo was a girl close to his side she kept to herself most of the time, she had long hair that was loosely tied over the shoulder and her dress matched the others but her appearance was more angelic like. but when the subject Kiru was mention she glared at her twin sister that was morphed.-

"Do have to be so rude Sondra.. I think it's nice that things calm down and there is nothing wrong with reading."

-They all then walked down the hillside to watch the mortals take part in the festival.-

Matilda watched the sun disappear past the hills, drawing a cloak of rosy golden hue across the sky. She had just finished with a customer who had bought one of the silly trinkets she always sold for a quick bit of coin, mementos at best of that year's festivities. A side glance told her Raff had just started packing his wares away into his wagon, getting ready to cart it back to his home to rest and return for the next day of celebration and selling.

It was probably about that time to move her own things back home and then start the ~real~ business that made her money. It was a warm night for harvest season, probably one of the last in fact, and so she took her time as she put away her displays before sitting back and enjoying one last evenings outdoors for a little while longer.

As shades of azure and lilac colored the heavens overhead, a frosty kiss brushed across her neck amidst the auras of the festival attendees. It lingered on her skin, and she looked around.

"Well well well. Been some time since the last ones visited. Wonder what brings them here..." she said to herself curiously.

There was more than one, that she could be certain of. The feeling was too heavy to be just one.

She sat back for a moment in thought.

-Millie looked around as some were already leaveing the grounds to retire for the day.- "I wonder if any are really staying to celebrate the night life." -she then pulled a strand of hair behind her ear so very carefully as a some young men walked by trying to peak their interest a little.-

-Leo smirked a little as Millie was already playing her poker hand in the game.- "Please make it a rough fella.. stronger the better."

-Millie then frowned.- "I don't like it when they play too rough, Leo."

-Roman chuckled- "You make it sound like you are trying to pimp her out."

"Does it make her look better as a target?"

-The Ranger look alike lightly chuckled.-
"Well you two should have fun at this with your game."

-She looked at Roman.-
"We should split up then?"

-Leo then looked at Roman and nodded as he and Millie started to walk deeper into the fair watching as some were already packing.-

-Roman then kissed Sondra on the lips.-
"Your such a fiend playing such a thing to taunt me."
"But we are here to work a little too, my pet."

-The Ranger look alike almost purred with his words and then nodded.-
"You think you'll find something here?"

-Roman scratches the back of his neck.-
"Something is different about this atmosphere not sure yet.. but I started to sense something as soon as we stepped foot and eyes started to gaze upon us."

-The Ranger look alike then straighten her dress.-
"You think this place will stir some clues don't you?"

-Roman smiled.-
"That's why I always loose in a game."

There was the sound of giggling just before a mid-aged woman stumbled into Sondra's side, her hands holding onto her sleeve and shoulder to keep from tumbling to the ground.

"Go back for another drink! You've still too clear a head!" the woman said as she spun her raven haired head back to laugh at the man she had been talking with to the side.

Pulling herself straight, she took Sondra's hand in her own and looked up imploringly with blushed cheeks.

"Deary me! I'm right-rightfully sorry for that. It gets dark so fast now. Do enjoy the festival!" she said, her red-brown eyes looking into Sondra's own before she spun around to hurry off past the closest house and out of immediate sight.

While Sondra had been left with a drunken apology, that had not been all that she was left with in the few seconds of meeting.

The woman's eyes. They had not been glazed with drunkenness but clear as they looked on at Sondra for that brief moment, as if in confused recognition.

Second, in her hand was a card. The back side of it was rather plain. In fact, it looked as if it had seen better days between a scratch here or there. Flipped over though, the other side seemed almost new - with a picture of a female archer dressed in green, aiming her bow at the sky...

-The ranger look alike was taken back by the woman and thought.- ' how coy.'

-Roman hearing Sondra's thoughts and watched the woman carefully as she left with in seconds.-

-Sondra then looked at the card and smiled.-
"She seems fun .. even though she just probably embarrassed herself to get our attention."

-But as quickly as that smiled appeared she became annoyed with the fact the card had a female archer upon it.-

-Roman then looked at Sondra.-
"A card reader?"

-Sondra then flipped card over in her hands to see if it would change.-
"Seems so."

-Roman chuckled-
"Sondra don't let it bother you too much... and lets go return her card to her."

-Sondra glared at him.-
"Your interested in her now..."
-she snapped-

-Roman shook his head-
"She looked right in your eyes Sondra she know your not in your true form." "So lets just return the card."

-The then both followed the direction the mysterious person ran off in.-

No matter how many times flipped, the picture on the card remained the same.

The scent matching the card led the pair to a little house not far away and as soon as they reached the threshhold, the door swung open and a voice from behind it called pleasantly for them to enter.

"Good, just the two of you. Might make this a little easier, but then again, might not," the woman said with none of the stuttering drunkenness that she had shown earlier. Shutting the door behind them, she then brushed off her hands on the better-than-usual dress she had chosen to wear for the festival that day. "Glad to see when people come back with the card though. Replacing those things can be an utter annoyance sometimes," she said as she looked first at Roman and then toward Sondra.

"Haven't had a vampire here in some time, let alone more than one, I say. What originally brings your group out this way other than the card you're holding that is? Mind if I see what it showed you?" the strange woman asked of Sondra as she nodded toward the card.

-Roman smirked.-
"Seems you like dangers." -He said as the door swung shut behind them.-

-Sondra (the Jay look a like) just carefully watched the woman and then walked toward the woman and handed her the card not saying anything.-

-Roman stayed back by the door.-
"I understand that you can make your own so misplaceing them is not really a problem."

-He then fold his arms carefully.-
"As for the reason we are here it's our own."

-Leo watch from the distance where the woman stumbled out and then handed Sondra- ...

-Millie already had three men around her and making jokes with them while sharing their ale from their mugs.-

She chuckled at the vampire with red hair though her eyes were on the one who came forward with the card.

"Actually it's the other way around. Danger likes me for the secrets I can help it answer," she said as her eyes finally dropped away from Sondra's face and looked at the card in hand. "Well that's interesting," she said as she scrutinized the card. She held it up and turned the picture toward the female vampire. Already, the image of the ranger was beginning to fade away.

"I know you are not her, but what is your tie to her out of curiosity?" she said while the corner of her mouth began to turn upward.

-Sondra (Jay look a like) furrow her brow at her.-
"It was a brief acquaintance that made an big impression on us all." -she said in a threatening tone.-

"Calm down Sondra..We don't have to say anything to her."
-He said before Sondra started to get any more in an up roar.-

"Madam, please don't mind us but we just wished to return your card and return to our own bizness."

"Come Sondra.."
-He went to open the door wondering if she would let them go.-

-Sondra too a turn towards Roman and the door not looking away from the card nor the woman.-

"If you're just visiting then, might I recommend not causing too big of a stir? Granted, it makes for good business when people think their place of residence is haunted but more than that is problematic."

It was amusing to see what only appeared to be the ranger all dolled up in a dress with color painted on her face. It was almost as if it were a twin who had taken all the feminine traits from the other.

"That does sound like her, by all means though. But if that's the case, you must not have been the 'Death' that was following her then," she said as she made her way back toward the door.
PostPosted: Sat Apr 18, 2009 10:51 pm

-Roman paused and thought about her words and look back at her.-
"Interesting you make it sound like you know her personally, but then I suppose that's what you do best cause acting is out of the question."

-Sondra looked at her then at Roman wondering if he is trying to hit a nerve on purpose.-

-The three men were passed out around Millie from an over welm swirl of sexual emotions where Millie just feed off the essence with a pleased smile on her face.-
"Ok Leo I am done with them your more than welcome to have some fun now."

-Leo then looked at Millie and lifted a hand to help her up.-
"Thank you ... One of these fools should do."

-Millie stood up as Leo pretended to fall on top one of the men and put his hands carefully over the mans face as he sunk his fangs carefully into the man's neck carefully keeping his face hidden from the public with his arm wrapped around him like he was giving him a hug. Once he had his fill he lick the wound as the the toxins from his saliva closed the wound covering his tracks that he even bit the man and he stood up apologizing to Mille-
"Sorry you had to see that I think I have drunk a little too much."
-he then lightly took Millie's hand and kissed it.-
"Are you alright."
-Leo said createing his own show before the two started towards a different section of the fair.-
