So i decided yesterday to take a pregnancy test. I was about 3-4 days late and feel basically like i have the flu + breast tenderness and kind of tingling. And i oddly lost almost 10 lbs this month without trying. I bought two store brand early pregnancy tests and am more confused than i was before. confused The first test had a faint positive line that was kind of smeared and even the control line was very faint and barely there. The second test the control line was there and normal but the pregnant or not window turned a crazy shade of dark blue for about 5 minutes then disappated. So I'm wondering if i should waste my money on another test or just wait it out. I'm also wondering if the wacky results are because of my fertility problems. I've had several miscarriages because of the baby attaching to scar tissue/improperly attaching as well as my body not reacting and producing enough hormones to sustain pregnancy. And no i was not ttc i was told i was infertile. stressed And still wondering what those results mean. Anyone else had this problem? Also i did call my doctor who told me to wait it out and if i make it to 8 weeks make an appointment. (all my miscarriages were prior to 8 weeks with the exception of 2)

I would wait it out.
The first test - its strange that the control line was faint....usually they are pretty definite. Did you check the expiration date? But if its a line - its a line biggrin Second test - both windows for me turn weird colors as they absorb the erm fluid
And each test is different on when its able to pick up the pregnancy hormone...so may be the first test was more sensitive.
If you had miscarriages prior to 8 weeks and don't want to get your hopes up - I would wait till 8 weeks...
Otherwise, wait for another week - then any test will give you a definite answer.

I think i'm gonna wait it out. Honestly if the SO wasn't pestering me i wouldn't have tested in the first place. Yeah there was def a line on the first test and the second there was a horizontal line when the blue faded ...but that also faded after about a half hour. The box said there should be a vertical line. I think from now on if i test im gonna bite the bullet and just by brand names. I really wish the boobs thing would subside. They feel heavy and hurt x.x Side note and this is prolly TMI but my nipples are like dry and flaking. Does anyone know a good fix? God that's embarassing.

I would listen to the doctor and wait. I've never had any problems with the cheaper tests. There's also usually free pregnancy testing centers, they can often interpret the results really well.
As for the breasts thing, it's kinda hard to gauge on that because it can mimick premenstrual symptoms as well. There are some creams out there, like lanisoh (or something spelled similiar). I know a lot of women who run into the problem in the winter.
Did you find a new guy? smile

I know i know trust me my family harps on me endlessly for it. sweatdrop I called planned parenthood and they said that they more than likely were positive, but advised me to wait 1 week then come in for a test and possibly exam due to high rate of miscarriage. The lady was actually pissed at my obgyn for taking a lax approach. She said she shouldn't say "if" i make it to 8 weeks apparently i should go asap due to my health issues. confused

Will they be able to do anything to help you decrease the miscarriage rate during the first trimester? My understanding (i had 2 miscarriages) is that even if they diagnose it before it actually happens...there is nothing they can do to help...

No but with my last miscarriage i bled so bad they thought i had hemmoraged. Plus i have very erratic bp and blood sugar that should be monitored along with hormone levels. They told me last time if they had caught it earlier they could have supplimented some of the hormones. The last BC i was on totally messed up my body. I wanted to have my tubes tied and just adopt. HOWEVER because of my age, eventhough i have two kids with genetic defects and my own health issues, they refuse to do it =/ I took another test last night and it came out faint positive, but this morning i had a small amount of brownish discharge and mild cramping by my hip. Ugh i so hate being female lol.

Ah ok. wink
On the being told you were infertile thing though. That doesnt mean you can't get pregnant. Infertility is also listed if you can get pregnant but tend to have a number of miscarriages. I know some women who have dealt with it, but it required immediate bed rest and a lot of monitoring.
If you don't like your GYN though and the attitude, I'd recommend finding one with some better tact. Especially if you want a permenant form of birth control, meet the criteria, and they won't do it.
As for BC, it's hard finding a nonhormonal that works. Have you tried condoms or the diaphragm?

As for BC, it's hard finding a nonhormonal that works. Have you tried condoms or the diaphragm? Yeah. I have a severe latex allergy as well as a allergy to spermicide. Plus due to the heart issue with hormonal bc and my ando and endometriosis i'm ineligable for any kind of IUD. As for condoms, i tend to be *cough* too rough*cough* and the syntetic keep tearing sweatdrop Thus how this blessed miracle came to be lol. Yeah my infertility is staying pregnant. Each prenancy has a slim chance that we will both make it to term so it's frustrating but i'm so excited i wanna scream and jump around. I'm in process of looking for a new ob/gyn. I took the day off my feet to rest and so far so good. No spotting no cramping *fingers crossed* Due date is sept 28th >.< My last successful pregnancy i spent most of it in and out of hospital, on bed rest , and bled to the point we were sure we had lost Alec. So i'm prepared but i'd rather have the pregnancy from hell than miscarry again.

Ah, my husband is allergic to spermicide, which I can agree, makes it hard to find a good alternative since a LOT of stuff has it. That and I am just hugely wary of IUDs (I know they work well for a lot of women, I just haven't had an obgyn I trust to do that yet).
Well, keep us updated.

I ened up in the ER last night. Was in the shower and the pain got unbearable. Long story short the pregnancy was eptopic. The doc was too cheery. She goes "Bad news this is eptopic. Good news we can use pills to terminate so no surgery!" I guess i barely made the cut off cause i was a bit farther than i thought. I'm worried that the tube is still gonna rupture or something. o.o;; Anyone else used these pills. Its been a few hours and so far just alot of cramping. I have to take more too. o.O Thank god for pain killers. Only good thing to come of it is now i have one more reason to lay out for my doctor to just tie my tubes! Grrr

Based on your health history if your OB won't do the procedure I would definitely find one that would. Having all those miscarriages and now an ectopic pregnancy can not be good for you. confused
Monkey, do you mind if I ask how old you are? Having two children already is usually good enough and if you're over 25, I can't understand why your OB wouldn't do it.
I haven't heard of giving pills for ectopic pregnancy, but I would assume it's like other pills of its kind and it will cause you to have severe cramping. Hopefully, it will pass soon and you'll be feeling better. smile

They ended up doing an aspiration. *shudder* It was fast and at that point painless. They watched me a bit and sent me home with antibiotics and pain meds. I have to follow up on monday or go back to the er. They were gonna keep me over night but after much begging they let me go home.I'm 23. My obgyn has a strict 30 policy. =/ I called a diff obgyn. It's gonna cost more in copays because it's out of network but he has agreed to do it. Just have to go for a office visit and a shrink lol It's standard to make sure it's what you really want. Esp since all of this. And of course S.O. is out of town. He conveniently left Wed evening. He knows what is going on and actually isn't talking to me! He says i'm lying and killed his child. He thinks i should have continued the pregnancy. I asked him what if i died? He said so my baby should die instead. Followed by him freaking out and hanging up on me. Needless to say i do not plan on talking to him. stare I do not need his crap on top of everything else. I still haven't told my mom either. I should. She thinks i've just been really sick. I just can't take anyone else getting on me about all this and i can't handle her i told you so's. emo

I've never heard of pills either, I'm sorry you got so sick and had to go through a procedure on top of it. I'm glad you found another obgyn though. 30? What a quack.
Monkey, I'm going to be frank here.
You're a sweet girl. You clearly love fiercely, especially your children.
Why do you let guys talk to you and treat you like that? That's not the first issue, if I recall from previous threads and you mentioning this is the same dude, that this guy has brought up in regards to your issues with pregnancies. He knew that from the start.
I'm sorry, but what he said to you, I can't believe anyone would want to be with that person. A spouse/boyfriend/fiance is supposed to be supportive. How incredibly selfish that he hasn't even considered YOUR feelings. Between this guy and the one that cheated, you deserve better. Don't settle, please. Take some time for just YOU and just your kids. The way he's all "MY BABY" makes me sad, it sounds like he doesn't consider your boys part of the whole family package.
As for your mom, just find someone to confide into. Let her know you don't want the I told you so's, you're hurting and need a shoulder.
I hope my words don't anger you, I truly mean them out of kindness and concern. heart
