Snow crunched under golden hooves as a young stallion wandered along the edges of a forest. The air was crisp and clear and the sun shone brightly, though it didn't lend much warmth on a winter day such as this. Zeke grinned and wondered how fast he could gallop on such hard packed snow. Conditions were perfect for a race! But he didn't have anyone to race with...That would be a problem. He huffed a bit and wandered some more, pausing to break the ice of a small stream and take a drink of the icy cold water. Ah, so refreshing.
Zeke itched to go do something, but he wasn't sure what. A race was out, his brothers were all off somewhere doing their own things, and there was nothing interesting in sight. A flight, perhaps? But the air was so cold that his wings would probably get stiff. The stallion frowned and shifted restlessly as he walked. He flicked his tail and wondered what could do. What he needed was a couple of other stallions to race with him. That would be perfect! He could already see the looks on their faces when he won. Zeke grinned and held his head a bit higher, entertained by his imaginings.
Not paying attention to where he was going, the stallion crested a hill that was surprisingly steep on the other side, and immediately started tumbling down it. To his relief though, he found that the snow on this side of the hill was quite a bit softer than what he had been walking on before. However, this meant that he was surrounded on all sides by soft powder as he rolled, and could not regain his footing. Finally, he landed at the bottom with an undignified "Oof!" Well, Zeke certainly wasn't bored anymore!

Tossing her golden mane, Kintori continued her way across the plain of snow. It crunched lightly under her golden cloved hooves, making her snarl everytime she fell deeper into the drift. She absolutely hated when the snow stuck to the fur around her hooves - when it melted then dried her fur caked together, and that was definitely a problem Kintori tried her best to avoid.
Kintori dearly wished she could just lift off and fly away, but she knew better than to do so in such wretched weather. And so she stomped on, clearly unhappy about having to travel so far for a simple drink of water. Of course, it would probably be worth it. Once there, she could use the reflection in the ice to look at her beautiful self once more. Oh the joys of being a beauty.
Suddenly, Kintori stopped dead in her tracks. She stared ahead in amazement. A large figure of gray had just plopped down at the bottom of a steep hill. A spasm of girlish giggles escaped her mouth once she realized this figure was a handsome stallion, and he must've slipped down the hill. "Are you okay?" She called, and before receiving an answer she trod forward to meet the fallen male.

Zeke tossed his head in annoyance and slowly got up, checking himself for injuries. Stupid, tricksy snow! He frowned down at it, vowing from then on to watch where he was going. Next time, he wouldn't be taken by surprise like that! Next time...hm? He heard someone giggling, and looked around. The owner of such a girlish voice was a pretty gold and white mare, standing not too far away and asking if he was alright.
The young stallion shook himself all over and vigorously flapped his wings to get rid of the layer of fluffy white snow that was now covering him. He snorted, checked himself over once more, and deemed himself clean enough. Only then did he actually acknowledge the mare, who seemed to be amused. He refused to be embarrassed though. No bit of snow and hills was going to get the best of him!
"Yeah I am, thanks," he said, walking over to where she was. He made sure to watch his footing this time, just in case the terrain decided to pull another fast one on him. "You'd better watch your step around here. Obviously, the snow is being a bit tricky today!" He grinned and flicked his wings to get rid of the last bits of snow.
