Kraes had now spent a few days with Lleshena and Briseis. And while Lleshena had welcomed him with open arms, Briseis was still apprehensive and refused to speak to him. This had troubled him a bit as he had never had a female close herself off so completely from him. He tried often to console her and diminish the differences between the two of them but Briseis refused to compromise.
He had tried all he could, and now he was growing tired of it. Originally he had stayed, knowing that Arei and Jonkaim could lead his people to safety, especially if Jaronoth was there to help. But now, now he no longer had an excuse to stay. If Briseis wouldn't talk to him then he had to leave. But as he was contemplating how to say goodbye one night he was a bit surprised to be greeted by a most unexpected guest...

 Briseis took a step out into the moonlight, her eyes shifting over Kraes. She mused, her head hung for a moment. Shifting, she slowly approached him though her mouth remained mute. Sitting down a few feet from him, she raised her head again, tail curling around herself as he wings piled up on her back. In the moonlight, she couldn't help but think how handsome he was. It was a thought that caused her to blush softly and turn away. Why did things have to be so hard?

Frowning, Kraes took a step toward her, "Why are you here Briseis." He began immediately. His eyes searched her as if examining every possibility before finally settling on her face. "You don't want to talk to me. You won't even give me the time of day... Why are you here?" He repeated in an almost accusing tone. He had become fed up by this point.

Taking in a ragged breath, it took all of her strength and will power to be able to utter but a few words, "Its unfair to say that I don't want to talk to you.." Came the quiet voice. Her eyes moved upward, a slight pain in them. "Don't go Kraes... please.. I swear.. I'll be better.."

The first thought that washed over him was astonishment. She was actually speaking? Taking a step closer, he lifted a paw to her face, caressing it gently as his eyes shifted into her direction. "Why... do you want me to stay?" His eyes were sympathetic but he didn't know if he could take anymore of these games. What did she want from him? He could admit he had been wanting her to say those words, he had been wanting her to speak at all.. and now that she did he was both overjoyed and worried.

"We met... once or twice.. when I was a cub.. I went to Eenon with my father. He was an ambassador and liked bringing me along.. I talked with you a few times while I was there.." He timid voice trailed off as her eyes finally returned his gaze. Her whole body shivered at his touch. "...I... My father died.. and after that I swore I would never talk to another male again.. I'm... sorry Kraes.."

"That was you?" A soft smile graced his lips as he came even closer to her, letting his paw wipe away a stray tear that had fallen down her cheek. "So you believe me..?"

Giving a nod of her head, "I knew who you were as soon as you said your name.." Came the thin reply. She had shifted her gaze again, not trusting herself to look at him. "I..." Nervous she let out a sigh. "Please... stay here with me..."

It was at this point that Kraes took a step back and let out a sigh of frustration himself. "You've still never answered me Briseis..." Musing, his eyes shifted back to the moon. "I have to make sure my people are alright.." His wings were now pinned to his back as he sat at the ledge of the mountain. His shoulders slunk as he thought about the whole situation.

Nearing him, Briseis sat down close though she still kept her distance. Letting her own eyes drift over the black abyss in front of her she slowly picked her words, "I.. don't want to... lose you again.." She stated simply. "Since that day... I've always thought of you... wondered about you.. and when I saw you here.. I'm sorry Kraes.. I'm sorry I... didn't..."

"Shh..." He cooed softly as he wrapped a paw around her to bring her closer to him. Letting her lean, he gently nosed her ear. "I can understand why you didn't... I can't say it didn't bother me though... but I suppose late is better than never." Though, considering what she had said before bothered him a little, for the good or bad he wasn't quite sure. She thought of him? He couldn't say he did quite the same.. "..I'm sorry Bri.. I'm sorry I couldn't be here sooner.. to hold you with what you went through.."

With tears shifting down her eyes, she let herself snuggle even closer to him. "It's not your fault... We weren't exactly even friends back then... just two strangers.."

"Perhaps.." He replied. He felt horrible that she was crying and that there was relatively little he could do. "But... maybe we can change that right here and right now. I do care abt you Bri.. and I hope that you care about me..." He let himself ease up a little as he placed a soft lick at her cheek, worried a bit about what she would do in reply.

Settling in close, "I do care Kraes.. of course I do.." Her eyes widened a little at the kiss and she couldn't help but softly return it. "I.. don't want to lose you... please stay here with me... as long as you can...?"

Her question hadn't really come as much of a surprise but he had hoped it wouldn't be asked. Sighing, "I do have to return to my family and friends Briseis.. I need to look for Mishaelion and let him know what happened."
