User ImageContinuing up the mountainside in search of a nicely complicated cave system that she could call home in this strange land, Nek readjusted the small sack of provisions she had slung over her shoulder and debated pausing for lunch.

The sun was already high in the sky and she thought she had covered a reasonable amount of ground. She paused underneath a large tree that offered a nice amount of shade, opening her pack and pulling out some of the dried fish she had packed to gnaw on one. The snow was already melting, though in her own world it would still deeply cover the ground. She shrugged, thinking that the sooner the snow melted the sooner the caves would be safe to explore without fear of flooding.

Her sword dug into her leg slightly and she removed the sheath from her belt, another fish sticking out of her mouth as she stared at the sword. No one was around, so she might as well get some practice in while she was at it, afterall she had found need of it before. It would help if she could become as proficient with it in close range combat as she was with her whip.

Her whip was good enough, but when she was up against an opponent who really knew how to fight it posed as a danger to her as well. And she had to figure out a way to get it to fit into her fighting style, physical strength not being one of her better points. It was her agility and almost acrobatic style that usually gave her an edge in battle.

That decided she unsheathed the sword, the fish still sticking forgotten out of her mouth, and stepped a little further away from the trees. The large tree she was under gave her plenty of space and shade to practice in.

She began with a dodge to one side followed by a flip over an imaginary enemy, then spun to strike at them with the sword. The enemy, having dodged the sword, was coming at her from the left and so she feinted to the right, twirling around behind them to strike at their left with her sword. Imaginary enemies weren't the best to practice against, but she knew better than to strike against trees in an unfamiliar forest.

MacCloud had been wondering around. He was bored and in need of some adventure. He stumbled upon the anthro by accident. Still, he couldn't help but watch. His sword on his back would never move like that. Only because he had four legs.

MacCloud didn't say a word. He didn't want to disturb her. He knew what it was like to practice swordplay in the air. Sure it wasn't the same for him as it was for her, but he figured it was still something you didn't interrupt.

(Actually, you know, I could see Nek going for a guy like MacCloud, but she'd need lots and lots of convincing that she wasn't perfectly fine with her life as a single Namir... And then I might have to put him in my book if anything did happen >3
*Really got sucked into rps because she has no experience with relationships other than friends and stories with little or no romantic plot don't usually sell that well*
So Neko got caught in rping to further her knowledge of 'relationships'... sweatdrop )

Nek whirled through the air again, pushing off a tree and twisting sideways to dodge yet another imaginary blade. Her acrobatic style recquired a lot of concentration, and she was so enraptured in her imaginary foe that she did not notice the other Namir until she spund around with another slash and did a back pike flip with a twist through the air to land almost right in front of him.

At first she merely blinked at him with her mouth slightly dropping open, the small dried fish falling to the ground. Then as her usual delayed reaction kicked in she fall backwards with a, "Gah!" Shifting about until she was no longer sitting on her tail, Nek looked up at MacCloud with a scowl. "Can I help you with something?" she asked, picking up the fish and brushing the dirt off of it.

((lol I guess I just normally rp and if something happens it happens if not it's fine. So, whatever you like.

It's funny but I don't have love but I write about it alot. All my rl stories has it. I think it's wish fulfillment! lol))

MacCloud was surprised too when she landed next to him. He hadn't seen that coming. He went for his sword but didn't end up drawing it as she fell over. "Oh, I'm so sorry Lass. I'm MacCloud of the Clan MacCloud. I just happened to pass your lovely swordplay and couldn't look away." He had meant to leave before she noticed him that way he wouldn't bother her. He now knew it was too late.

"Nekoyitolani, of the Tolftiken caves," she replied sticking the fish back in her mouth to finish chewing and swallow it. She arched a brow at his sword and pointed to it as she stood up and brushed her breeches off, "You know how to use that?" Actually it shouldn't have been so surprising, she thought, as the creatures who lived here did seem to do odd human-esque things.

She wondered if he would be up for a spar. It would be interesting to see how a pawed being used a sword and what type of style he used, and it would be better than fighting against the air. A frown took the place of her scowl, the only indication that her interest had been caught by the other strange Namir, her eyes still mouing under her arched brow.

"What a pretty name for a pretty lass, Nekoyitolani." With his accent it didn't come off as just right, but MacCloud figured it was okay. Accent was an accent nothing could help that.

MacCloud looked at his sword with a half smile. "Oh aye that I do. However, I have mostly just fought the air as it were." He pulled it off his back and held it in his front paws as he stood on his hind paws. It wasn't the easiest thing to do, but he did it.

Nek's other brow joined the first in arching at MacCloud's first statement. Normally if someone mispronounced her name that was the last she had to do with them, but the Namir in front of her spoke strangely to begin with, so she supposed it was good he got it close. Her eyes returned to their normal scowling position. She had her own accent at times as well, rolling her 't's and lilting her 'l's.

Not wanting to hear her name mispronounced more she added, almost slowly, but not quite, "It's Nek after we've been introduced."

It was an interesting sight to see a four legged being standing on its hind legs and weilding a sword, moreso interesting in fact than the four legged waltzing Namrah she had seen at Neko's house. Amusement lit in her eyes, but she merely helf out her own blade to test his, still curious as to how he would use it. "Would you be up for sparring more than air at the moment?" she asked, her tone serious.

"Aye, Nek it is then. If you like you can call me Mac. No one does, but I always liked the idea." MacCloud chuckled a little at that. He wasn't sure why no one had giving him the nick-name before. Maybe he needed to see people more then once. The male just shook his head of the thought.

"Oh, aye I would. Be gentle with me." He winked at her as he held his sword out in front of him. This would test him and he was glad of it. He had found the sword with Jenna and now he'd really be able to use it. MacCloud always thought the sword was meant to be his.

"Mac?" Nek repeated. With a shrug she accepted it, focusing more on her sword and the coming spar. When he mentioned being gentle Nek almost laughed, "I'm beginning to think this world will make me soft." Just to prove it wasn't she waited for Mac to attack first, following her usual beginning strategy with no plans on altering it, even if he was a beginner. Well, he might be a beginner he might be pretty good. The only way to tell would be to engage in the spar.

((Okay, I will do my best but I haven't really rped sword fighting before! lol wink ))

MacCloud nodded as he understood. He then took his sword and thrust it, in a controlled way, towards Nek's sword. He didn't think he was ready to try hitting her body. Even so he wouldn't want to really hurt her. MacCloud just tried his best. The male figured it was a easy counter, but it was only the first move.

Nek's first reaction would have been to get out of range of his sword and use her whip, but she reminded herself that she was doing this to get used to the sword. So instead she brought her sword up to block and angled it sideways so MacCloud's attack would go to her left. Without waiting to see his reaction she ducked and spun to the right, bringing her sword around to jab upwards, a move she rarely tried and decided she wanted to practice in this spar.

MacCloud knew he would be countered. Still, this didn't detour him. He moved quickly as he saw her sword come upward toward him. He tried to counter that but missed a little and her sword cut a little of his paw, still it could have been worse. MacCloud then tried to thrust his sword towards Nek.

Nek frowned as she scored his paw; she hadn't meant to actually hit him. An uncontrolled sword was just as dangerous as a sword that didn't know how to be used. She would have to work on tha- her thoughts were interrupted as his next attack came, causing her to dodge to the side and flip backwards to bring herself out of his close range to regather her strategy.

His stance was simple, yet kept away from being open well, and while he might need to work on his defence his sword was remarkably well control for being held with paws for offensive attacks. He was probably a quick study, too. Her eyes flickered between his eyes and his sword, trying to get a feel for his next move.

MacCloud took in a deep breath as he missed and she flipped away. He steadied himself again as he looked toward Nek. She was watching him. He smiled a half smile before winking.

With that MacCloud pulled his sword close to himself before running towards Nek. He was trying a sorta of lunge move. He knew she'd see it coming, but still he had to get in the game.

Nek stepped back a little involuntarily at the wink, not used to the action. Her eyes narrowed themselves and she began to ponder making the next move when he began to run at her. She dodged to the side again, this time using her sword instead of flipping away, tilting it until her blade point was near MacCloud's hilt.

The aim was to twist the blade near the hilt and cause the other to loose his hold on his weapon. It didn't always work, in fact had never worked when she tried it before, but she was sort of hoping that against a beginner she might be able to gain a feel for the motion.
