The house was getting just a little crowded between a dragon, his older sister, their Mom's experiments, the new foster 'brother' who kept making it rain inside by being so depressed and various guests. The young teen managed to wrangle his allowance a day early and with plenty of assurances to his mom, headed downtown.

The god moped his way through the various bright shops, drifting from window to window in a fit of restlessness. He didn't really want anything but at the same time it seemed like there was nothing else to do. No real friends, no hobbies, even his control of illusions was shaky at best. He smoothed down his dress, and sighed. He needed chocolate.

Korin headed to the nearest ice cream store.

((Today he's not bothering to try and look like a girl as far as anatomy goes.))

Today was a day of respite for Raizen. Nights was at an art class with Eek, Alice was at home learning piano, and his other siblings had decided that he was capable to venture out on his own accord. The acceptance to this solitary errand run was the new child who had, sofar, been blessedly content to simply observe everything with wide eyes and pricked ears. The little one had been so good in fact that Raizen had decided that she deserved an entirely new experience in the reward of ice cream - though he had to admit it was partially for himself.

He entered the store and unloaded his parcels, making sure they were secure as he strode up to the counter with the bunny in hand to order. Raizen did not notice the questionable youth at first, but wound up the number after them and wound up glancing at him, trying to figure out whether or not it was a he.

Raizen was not the only one interested. Amber pricked her ears and churred softly, amazed at the astonishingly unique looking individual.

Staring at the class casing, Korin pondered his destiny. Chocolate, Chocolate fudge or Rocky Road?

Vaugely Korin noticed the pair that quued up behind him, taking in the person sized baby bunny. It wasn't until the animal made some sort of sound, that he really looked over at her.

Forcing a smile a little at the girl's stare, Korin waved a little self-consciously.

((Eek! XD Wonderful book by Andre Norton with a character named Eek in it. *luffs the alien/cat/thing* Sorry. Was just surprised. ))

Amber smiled at the new person and waved a small hand back, wiggling a little and churring again. It was evident she was too young yet to speak, but decently capable at communication. She churred again, making soft squeaking noises in accompaniment as she greeted the stranger. Wide amber eyes surveyed the minute details of his being until she refocussed them straight into his own.

Raizen spoke more eloquently for her, rubbing the back of his head nervously. "Hello there, I apologize for making you uncomfortable but it seems she likes you." He smiled a bit. "My name is Raizen, by the by, it's a pleasure to meet you." He motioned then to the bunny. "This little fuzzy one is Amber."

Korin cleared his throat, one hand sliding up to tangle nervously in his hair. "Uh... Nice to meet you. I'm Korin.." The boy glanced at the line, which had moved by a grand total of one person.

The boy shifted from one foot to the other. Now what? If his sister was here, she'd have made best friends out of the two by now. Him? What did you say to perfect strangers?

"Um... What flavor ice cream do you like Amber?" Korin finally blurted out, face red with embarrassment over his rather stupid question.

The query did not fall upon deaf ears by any means. Amber seemed intent on answering but found herself at quite a loss for an answer. She'd never had this thing called "ice cream" before and had little knowledge of the variation of flavors. She glanced towards the glass that displayed the various flavors and wondered at what caused the creamy substance to change to such vibrant hues. As she didn't quite know what flavor she preferred, she settled on color and reached towards a particularly alluring looking tub. Jamoca almond fudge swirled with caramel. The child looked absolutely beside herself at the sheer amount of the golden, creamy substance that oozed from the fudge swirls. He looked at her much older peer as though seeking his opinion on the matter.

Raizen was far on the other spectrum of taste. He winced at the overly sugary looking ice cream and glanced down at the girl, worried what that might do to her. "I believe I'm going to settle for a plainer coffee flavor, myself...What are you going to get, Korin?"

Korin nodded seriously at the girls answer, offering a, "Looks good.." to the rabbit despite his personal belief to the contrary.

Glancing up at the man's comment, he nearly made a face. Coffee. Yuck. Korin stared at the cases for a moment thinking hard. "I think just chocolate..." he finally replied, turning back to the pair with a shrug. The double chocolate tub was almost empty and he didn't really want to stick around for them to refill it. Besides the ice cream on the very top of a tub didn't taste quite the same.

The child seemed pleased with his approval and wiggled her ears a bit, churring softly in a conversational sort of tone. It must have been odd for whomever else was about to see such a small tot carrying on wordlessly with the teenager as though commenting on how the weather was, and what a lovely day it seemed to be.

It certainly seemed to bemuse her guardian, for he patted her lightly and glanced at the chocolate concoction behind the glass. "I remember the days I used to pine for that stuff. I'm afraid when you get old you just want anything with astronomical caffeine as its base ingredient. What do you aspire to? Something less stressful, I presume?"

Korin just nodded bemusedly at the rabbit's churring noises. "Oh..." he replied vaguely, hoping she took it for understanding and a reply to...well, whatever it was she was talking about.

Korin's mind went blank at the man's question. Did he mean ice cream? Or job? Or.... He shook his head confused. "Um.. But.. doesn't chocolate have caffeine?" the god asked, avoiding the question all together.

Raizen nodded, though he noted the aversion to the question. "It does, but not as concentrated as other mediums I could mention. It'd do in a fix though, and has for some of the interns under my watch." Granted that had not ended well at all and had caused several of said interns to wind up pasted in pink glitter by the end of their shifts...the incident was shaken from his mind in a small shudder before he decided that was not for suitable discussion and decided to try at a different angle to get to know more about the boy. "I must say, you're a rather unique fellow. You don't come across as some of the others I've met about this region. Are you from around here or?"

The teen nodded along with the man's statement, even if he couldn't exactly place what would have more caffiene. Coffee certainly, perhaps people ate coffee beans? A slight grimace danced across Korin's face at the thought. That was just gross.

Startled at the sudden personal turn of questions, Korin took a half-step back. "Umm. uh... Yes. Well, just outside town but that's not that far away." Nervously the boy glanced about. "Um.. My mom's not from here?" He offered trying to figure out what had made the man so suddenly interested.

(( Rai + Teens = disastrous... xd This is why it's so amusing he's a dad now...))

The man shrugged disarmingly and offered a sheepish smile. He hadn't intended to startle the boy, though he could understand the reaction. "I was just curious, don't worry. I've noticed that there are quite a few different sorts around here and such." And as if to punctuate this, he glanced down at the little rabbit child who had just now begun paying closer attention as her delicate senses picked up the change in mood.

Amber wiggled her ears a bit before they went back, illustrious eyes turning so coy that it would put a doe to shame as she silently questioned his withdrawal. Was it something she'd said? Her churring ceased and a soft squeak vocalized this thought further.

Her father wasn't going to have any of that sort of look though and ruffled her ears, distracting her enough for her to stop that look when there wasn't anything at all the matter. "Sorry about that."

Korin shrugged. He'd grown up here. It didn't seem that much here was out of the ordinary. "Dunno," he replied quietly. "Seems normal to me." All the crazy chaotic creatures that roamed around. Seeing a bunny talking to a floating light or someone that looked like a vine holding hands with a wolf wasn't really that unusual for him.

The little bunny girl gave him a pathetic look. Korin just gave a wobbly reassuring smile back, not entirely positive what was going on. In an attempt to pull attention away from himself, the teen turned the questions around. "Where are you from?"

Raizen smiled, pleased that the boy hadn't taken total offense and even seemed interested in the conversation now. "I'm from Juridia, myself. My family and I wound up here not too terribly long ago. I admit...I'm not yet used to all the oddities of Gaia." At this he glanced at his own child and flicked her eartip. "Especially not how readily children seem to pop up in this place...just this month alone I've gained two daughters, counting this one...it's odd."

The child's ears went back in annoyance at the abrupt flick to her ears and chittered angrily up at the man. Surely he had no grasp upon the finer points of lapine grace and sensibility...ah well...her attentions shifted soon enough to Korin and she smiled, lifting one ear curious of his reaction.

"Oh," was all that Korin replied, having no clue where Juridia was, or what was so odd about all the kids around Gaia. How else were they supposed to get homes? He shrugged again, simply repeating, "I grew up here. It's not that odd to me..."

The little bunny girl made a cute little face, a smile and an ear flick. He smiled back, and checking to make sure no one was really watching, created an illusion that mimicked her ears. He could do small stuff like that no problem.
