Outside, the rain clouds scattered the sky, casting ominous black patches on the carpark, covering red, blue, green and purple steel bonnets left behind by their owners. The carpark was packed, barely a space to be found in this puzzle, making parking much like a game of monopoly- run down one row to collect your ticket, drive down another to hopefully buy Old Kent road near the end of a row, or do you take another role of the dice and wait for Mayfair right next to the bright yellow exit.
Choices, choices... Luckily, Taley had arrived by foot. The strange looking furry was followed, hand in hand, by a small ten year old. Wide Auburn eyes glazed over, watching the argument on parking aisle C4, as two cars bleeped their horns at one another, each one not budging on the tiny carspace. His wings fluttered too and fro against his head, they were a lot larger these days, and seemed to have a mind of their own - currently they stuck out like radio antennas picking up the resounding, high pitched note of each honk of the horn.
Luckily for the composer, his musical ears weren't to be harassed by these sounds for much longer. In his haste to watch the cars, Fai was soon dragged into a HUGE store. Rails, upon rails stood in front of him - show casing everything from the latest action man, to teddy bears, to even a few oddities only Gaia could think of. The child's eyes widened to the size of saucers, watching a robot walk, yes, WALK over the floor of the shop. The only thing better than walk would be to dance, which the robot next did, stepping into a distinct robo-dance, arms flailing. This. Was. Genius. In retrospect, this shouldn't have been such an oddity, with a strange white and purple furry for a Mother, but the child was fascinated.
"Now, I need to get some reading done, I trust you, don't get lost, ok? Meet you back here soon, you've got a tag on your back if you need it." Bending down in front of the star struck child, the rather hassled author planted two sticky treats inside of his dungarees, patted his head, and went to find a seat. Fai was a good kid, and in case of such emergency, there was a note pinned onto his white t-shirt.
Now...Where was the music...Not even acknowledging his Author's leave, the tale toddled off into the depths of the store.

Ah, finally a day off from working for Mama. Although she'd been getting them a bit more frequently now that her grandmother was at the shop helping out Mama...who...she was still getting used to after her very drastic makeover. But just because it was her day off didn't mean she had a plan for the day, or any idea what to do to keep herself entertained.
Um...hm...let's see. Kea's wings fluttered igly as she walked through town with her umbrella propped up on her shoulder, ready to protect her from the rain at a moment's notice. And let's face it, she would really need the rain protection considering she was dressed in an all white lolita dress, but at least she had a coat on over it to protect her from the cold January weather. At least she was warm enough to walk around town and look for something to do.
That was when she heard the honking cars and looked up to see the toy store's sign, stopping in the middle of the sidewalk with wide, bicolored eyes. Ooh...she really liked toys, but she never had time to really play with them anymore. Oh dear, oh dear! She bit down on her lower lip and looked around to see if there was anything else around for her to do. Well...no...and it'd be better to be indoors if it started raining, right? The Stationary store wasn't close enough if it started raining right now! So she had every excuse to go into the store and look at stuffed animals.
Totally.
With a happy little hum Keaira turned on her heel and skipped through the parking lot into the building, closing her umbrella so she wouldn't poke anyone's eyes out and hanging the handle over her arm, shaking out her black hair so it fell into a curtain of golden curls to match her eyes when they changed to a bright green color instead of their natural silver and violet. It was getting more and more fun to play with her abilities, so she took every chance she was given to do so! That was when she spotted a little boy with...
With...
Dude! That boy has wings coming out of his head! Just like Mom! Only his were white and feather, but it was still awesome! Keaira gasped and decided to do the most sensible thing: Tail him the way she had Armel! Sneak around behind him watching him with the utmost curiosity.
Kea's obviously not one to learn from her mistakes now, is she?

Luckily for Kia, Fai's astute ears were not attuned to footsteps, so off down the isles he went. Scuffed boots tip toed past the rails, big brown eyes soaking in everything around him, from the women with pushchairs struggleing with toddlers, to the older people scouring the shelves for presents.
It seemed like ages before the child finally saw what he wanted, but there it was, right at the front of an isle. Suddenly, wings sprung up, flicking, flapping and fluttering against his head madly. Feathers showed off his excitement, covering his face as his feet started moving further, and further down the store towards it. If his wings had been larger, they would have lifted his feet clean off the ground with the spectaculater display of flapping.
And there it was, right at the end, a children's idol. Over the past year, there had been imprints of this character all over television; it was a giant carrot. The carrot had two arms, one holding a sword, and the other holding a shield, posing as dramatically as a orange, kid's television character of a vegtable could. It had a sidekick, no doubt a beetroot, who had a laser gun beside it, posing in an equally bad pose.
Of course, this was epic to Fai. This vegtable was ALWAYS on before piano classes, this vegtable was his idol; it defeated the bad people who made terrible music. So there the young tale stood, eyes wide as saucers, his wings even stopping in awe of the giant vegtable. It may have been childish, I mean come on, it was a carrot - but it had a sword, a sword! That, that made it look cool.

Kea's not a spy, stealth is definitely not her middle name. So it was probably pure luck that Fai wasn't hearing her footsteps, especially because she was wearing heavy boots so her footsteps weren't the quietest. There was one point when an employee had spotted her ducking behind a cage of rubber balls peeking around the side to watch Fai and had inquired as to why she looked so suspicious. The girl blushed, her hair matching her cheeks by turning bubblegum pink, giving a tiny explanation and pointing at that boy with an embarrassed grin you'd normally only see someone give in cartoons. The employee put her hands on her hips, stared at Kea a few more moments and eventually walked away while grumbling something about strange kids.
Augh! The boy was on the move again! And his headwings were going berserk! What was going on now? Kea gasped softly and followed after the boy again, ducking behind everything she could until he stopped to worship a giant carrot with a sword and a beetroot with a laser. What on Gaia was that? Kea blinked and came out from where she was hiding, walking quietly up to Fai to stand her umbrella up on its tip, put both hands on the handle and rest her chin on her hands, staring up at the boy and then the carrot. "What's that?"
Ah, Kea, you're the master of introductions.

In awe the Tale stood, until one of those ears heard a shuffle from behind. He slowly turned around, like a horror movie, his face foreseeing his expectations of dripping blood, and entrails behind him. Like a scared deer in the headlights, Fai's auburn eyes fell upon the bubblegum pink girl in front of him, perched upon her umbrella. Oh, well, it wasn't quite entrails, perhaps she wasn't as bad as those heavy footsteps told him.
Wait...Was he in trouble? Why was someone asking HIM who THAT was? Was that not obvious, that was SIR Commander Ragtop, COMMANDER Ragtop, not like Lieutenant Mopbop, he was a COMMANDER, a keeper of the peace. His mouth gawked for a second, a strange habit he'd kept from his toddler years, fingers pointing from The Commander, back to Kea, and then to The Commander. He ended up with a mixture of both, one hand pointed directly at the carrot, the other at the tale in front of him, seemingly awestruck by the girl's statement.
"Commander Ragtop, that's THE Commander Ragtop."
A second passed, before the child thought that sentence through, surely if she'd asked who that was, she wouldn't know what he was from.
"He's part of a cartoon, that I watch before my Piano class," The composer continued, not letting anymore than a second pass between his utterances.
"See, look-" In one final swoop, the finger pointed directly at Ragtop etched forwards, inching towards the giant red button conveniently placed next to the carrots sword.
"I AM COMMANDER RAGTOP, GOOD CITIZENS, DO NOT FRET, THE WORLD IS SAFE." The carrot widely proclaimed, before bursting into a jaunty - but VERY out of tune theme song. Appears someone had been tweaking with the pitch settings...

It was a good thing Fai wasn't mentioning those heavy footsteps he was hearing, because then she would feel insulted...even if she is wearing heavy boots to protect her from any puddles she'd step in if it'd rained, and the cold weather.
Forget the boots though, Kea had more important matters to worry about. Fai looked...well...Kea couldn't even find words to describe the look on Fai's face when he heard her question. What? She didn't watch cartoons about vegetables! She was much too old for that kind of childish thing...
She much preferred cartoons about fairies.
The girl leaned back a little when she was pointed at, fearing the worst. Uh oh, had she just ruined her chances at hanging out with someone? Kea bit her lip and frowned a little, waiting until he finished his first statement before she did anything. Oh, that was all! She sighed with relief and giggled, standing up straight and looking at Commander Ragtop. "Oh, I get it! The leaves on his head give him a raggy top! Piano class?" That sounded like fun! But before she could say anything more the boy was reaching out and pressing a button to make the carrot talk. She grinned and giggled up until the music started playing off key, wincing a little at that but bearing it until it was over.
"So you watch it a lot? Cool. Oh! I'm Kea, by the way~!"

Of course he watched it a lot, Fai was the biggest fan in the entire shop he told himself, but then again...The girl in front of him was of the opposite sex, and she was just a little bit older than he was. Perhaps she didn't like watching cartoon's about sword wielding carrots, Taley had never really seemed impressed by the IMPRESSIVENESS of the Commander. Actually, even as he spoke, he saw her lip nibbled, before running over to the other end of the spectrum of emotions to laugh.
His wings fluttered against his head, bowing down at either side in their own apology, had he really spluttered up this chance to meet a child of his own age already? No, he had to claw this one back, he'd not met a child outside of the shop since he could barely walk, and he wasn't about to splutter this one up. Actually, with her question, he found a place to jump into which happened to be completely within his comfort zone.
"I'm Fai!" He repeated, over the twang of the music. He visibly winced as each beat hit those sensitive ears, going as far as to close one hazel eye as the tune it the octaves, before it broke off into sweet silence.
"Your out of tune Commander, your C sharp and F sounds twangy..." He muttered, frowning at the Carrot. He was disappointed, how dare his idol play such a atrocious song! Silence drew on for a second longer, before he opened his mouth, clearly still frustrated at the song.
"Do you play an instrument?" He questioned, eyes finally looking her up and down. She had pretty pink hair, very girly, but the composer approved- it matched her umbrella, and those boots were awesome.
"I like your umbrella," He finally complimented as an afterthought (girls loved compliments), smiling brightly up towards Kea, wings still pinned into a bow.
