Early January, 109

The lean figure of the New Eve Lieutenant sat crossed-legged, perched atop an old tombstone of the fort's cemetery. Silver bangs swayed as her head tilted from side to side like an intrigued animal as she examined the sliver of blood slide off the crease of her left palm. What do you suppose... the color of blood is closer to, she asked the dark wolf that lay curled around the tombstone. Crimson like satin cloth... or scarlet like a rose...?

Nightmare lay quietly underneath the narrow shade of her rider. The raven carcass that she so often wore atop her head now resembled a mask as it was pulled over her muzzle to shield her eyes from the blazing rays of sun overhead. Shallow breaths echoed around the bird's hollowed skull as the wolf hungrily watched the steady drip of her rider's blood through the corpse's empty eye sockets. Who cares? an elegant but bone-chilling voice rang. It all tastes the same to me~ There was a pause as a red tongue shot out from under the bird skull to lick up a stray drop of coppery-scented liquid that landed on her paw. Besides, it's much closer to maroon.

"Interesting..."
Annabel murmured softly to herself. Thumbing the dull end of a dagger with her right hand, she raised her other hand to her face and gave the self-inflicted wound a curious lick before allowing the wolf to eagerly lap at the cut. You know... Anna began, wiping her hand on her trousers after Nightmare licked the wound clean. Captains of the colonial times wore red jackets so their soldiers would continue to fight even if their leader had been hit. She looked down at her own red uniform, wondering if that had been the exact reason why New Eve wore that color.

What a stubborn way to die.

They believed it to be noble.

Yes, well they were fools. Honestly, to let themselves bleed to death only to have their disciples toss them into the ground. Such a waste of food.

Mmmhmm. What does a human taste like anyways?

Watery, for the most part. Unless you roast one on a spit. Recruit meat in particular, is soft and tendeeerrrr. she growled as she stretched and leaned against the cool surface of the headstone. A Recruit's brain, on the other hand, tastes cheap and metallic. Lips curled back over sharp ivory teeth to form a twisted, wolfish grin. Like ssssuckiiinng on a greeeassy coooiiin, she hissed.

"Interesting," the girl repeated quietly again as her gaze shifted to the clouds overhead. It was highly unlikely that Nightmare had ever eaten a human, however no one argued with a sardonic wolf who believed there was a first for everything. You're such a sadist, mon amie. At Nightmare's piercing inner laughter, Annabel's maroon eyes continued to look up at the brilliant blue sky. I do believe... it will rain today.

That would be a lovely change. The Alpha commented, not bothering to even take a glimpse of the sun-infested sky. Her ears perked as she caught a scent on the wind. As so it would seem we have guests~.

Riya glared at the offensive package in her hand, the source of all her current problems. If she hadn't been asked to deliver the cursed brown box, then she could be sleeping in right now, especially after a rough night of going through paperwork with the Captain. Honestly, she hadn't known that the rank of Lieutenant came with so much desk work, whereas the Captain had the liberty of doing all the fun stuff - like tactical drills and strategic formations for the patrol. If she had a choice, she'd rather take the Captain's job, but seeing as she was up against a Seer, that seemed like a far reach at the moment.

Are you still on about that? Stardust inquired her rider as she walked along at a leisurely pace. Her human had been sulking about Ember's revelation as an Alpha since... well, since it happened, actually. Then again, it hadn't been that long ago, and she was coming to realize that Riya really could hold a grudge. Although if she thought about it, she should've known, especially since she still hadn't gotten over Damien's "betrayal" or whatever.

"No, I'm over it," Riya answered without conviction, but she knew that such envy wouldn't disappear over night. She'd eventually come to terms with it, perhaps in a few months, but for now she'd keep sulking and Stardust would have to suffer through the whining.

How considerate of you...

Riya huffed quietly as the fort came into view, watching as her warm breath formed a temporary white cloud in front of her. The weather was cold, but she had learned to find comfort in the wintertime, knowing that they were safe, even if only for a few months.

There is Nightmare and her human, Stardust pointed out as she noted the figures at the cemetery, ears flickering forward at attention as she carefully sniffed the air. The familiar scent of blood filled her nostrils, but not an uncommon smell when it came to the older Alpha female. We should greet them.

Before she could protest, Riya felt the wolf change direction and she sighed reluctantly. Her hopes of sneaking and dropping off the package unnoticed had been a small probability before, but now it was an impossibility. But Stardust was right, it would be rude not to greet a fellow Lieutenant.

As they approached the older pair, Stardust pulled her ears back and lowered her stance enough to show respect, but not so much as to act completely submissive. She was still an Alpha, but she did look up to her elders. Coming to a stop a few feet away so as not to impose, her ears flicked back to await her rider's descent.

Sliding off the side, Riya tucked the packed under her left arm and saluted the older Lieutenant with her right hand. "Good afternoon, Lieutenant," she greeted formally with as she eased her posture. "I hope we're not intruding, but we're only here to drop off a package." That explained all since it was a common occurence for Shizuka to send Riya to 'check on her brother' with a box of goodies once in awhile - much to her own reluctance, but nobody said no to Lady Shizuka.

Feral was irritated—no, Feral was just plain mad this particular and unfortunate day. His stare along could burn wolves where they stood and there would be no doubt the alpha would curl his lips in a pleasing smile while watching the sad ashen remains flow by him. He had been stalking the fort in vain search for something to kill… namely something that came under the title gamma. However, those damned wolves are suspiciously doing a good job avoiding him and keeping themselves busy enough to have an excuse for avoiding him. The dark wolf bared his fangs at the thought. Idiots, he hissed.

Feral, please keep your murderous images to yourself, Damien frowned as another corpse-looking image was sent into his mind from his very creative wolf. "Why don’t you go look for Nightmare. It's been a while since we've seen those two."

Although finding his mate was not as actively interesting as killing a Gamma, it was not an unpleasant thought. The other alpha would not be bad company at all. He searched through the fort for the familiar wolf and instantly broke into a sprint. Luckily they were close …the cemetery scenery fit the couple very well…
Damien, you sound so excited…. If I said Annabel would you start blushing?

If I said Nightmare, would you turn into a lovesick pup?

Feral's reply huff sounded suspiciously like a laugh. You may try to deny it all you want but you forget I can read you pathetic human mind… not to mention your dreams~

Damien game thee wolf a good kick in the side. Feral snarled but the sound was clearly laced with more amusement than anything else. When Nightmare and hers were in sight, he realized another rider pair accompanied them. Well, what a gathering we have. From the distance, Feral amused comment echoed to all three listening.

Riya's here!? Damien suddenly perked up and narrowed his eyes in attempts to get a better view. If Feral was sure, it had to be Riya and Stardust and perhaps dropping off a package from Shizuka. That thought worried Damien. Shizuka had a frightening habit of attempting new recipes out of anything she could get her hands on and then sending a sample over to Damien. … There was once that soup that he later found out was made of centipede… something. The infamously cold and emotionless captain shuttered in undeniable fear.

Riya and Stardust, I would assume... Anna mused to herself, not removing her attention from the sky as she heard the the younger wolf approach. The girl tipped her head thoughtfully as an agreeable sound from Nightmare confirmed her suspicions. Stardust, like every alpha, has long and confident strides.

If that's the case, it could've very well been Feralblood that was approaching. Nightmare proved, only to see how observant Annabel was.

Yes, but Stardust's foot-falls are lighter compared to you and Feral because of her size... Besides, Feral's approach could be determined from a mile away. Anna pointed out with a soft smile.

Indeed... the dark wolf agreed wryly before peering out at the younger wolf from behind the skull. Nightmare gave a smug grin for no other reason than she could. Greetings, Stardust dear... I see you're still surviving the subordin-atesss on your end of the pack~ she murmured pleasantly in a strange way of greeting her equal. She took notice of Stardust's respectful gesture. With the Gammas and Betas, Nightmare didn't care if she gained their submissive respect out of loyalty or fear, so long as the lower ranks knew their place. But Nightmare generally never expected so much as recognition from the other Alphas. At least Stardust had respect for her elders; something several of the younger wolves in the pack could use.

A familiar voice caught the dark wolf off-guard and her ears swiveled into a perked position as her milky white eyes fell onto an Alpha in the distance. Ears falling back impishly, Nightmare let out a soft, playful growl. Fer~ralbloood... she cooed deviously to the older male. Generally, Nightmare used the short of his name like most others so commonly did, however the sound of his full name was like a drug to her mind and she couldn't help but take a dose. Do come and join us~ Or are you going to make me come over there and get you myself?

Maroon eyes finally tore away from the sky that they had been so concentrated on before flicking over to the White Shadow Lieutenant. The intelligent eyes blinked as Anna registered Riya's greeting. It was very rare for someone to approach her out of common courtesy. Nonetheless, she gave the younger Lieutenant a gracious smile (which still happened to make her look eerily refined). "Bonsoir, Lieutenant" she greeted in return with a makeshift salute. "Oh, not at all. No need to go out of your way to speak to us," Anna assured, even if it had been the polite thing to do. "Your brother shouldn't be too far off, I'm sure-" she drifted off at the sound of Nightmare's playful disposition and followed the wolf's pale gaze to the two figures standing not too far off in the distance. A mischievous glint fell into the Lieutenant's eyes. "Speak of the devil," Annabel murmured with a side-glance to Riya. "There's the Captain now." She would have called out to Damien to catch his attention, but settled with a small wave as her soft voice was reluctant to project to higher amplitudes.

Good afternoon, Stardust responded kindly as she sat down, feeling more comfortable to know that the older female seemed to be in a pleasant mood. Better enjoy the peace now for she would most likely be meeting up with FeralBlood soon, and rumor has it that he's been in a foul mood recently. Then again, that bloodthirsty Alpha was always in a temper. Nightmare was a far more pleasant companion, though Stardust knew the Alpha female had her quirks as well.

Surviving, yes. But I am starting to think that I should take a page out of you and Feral's methods. A lip lifted as she thought of how the majority of the wolves in White Shadow had been slacking off, but Stardust and SnowySky had been tolerant of the fact that they had lost their respected matron. However, enough time had passed and she expected their desire for vengeance to kick in soon. If not, she'd have to beat it in for them.

"Not completely out of the way," Riya replied with soft nod, since it was already out of her way to come all the way up here. A few feet's detour was so insignificant compared to the many miles she (or more accurately, Stardust) had to track to reach this fort. But the package was important and Lady Shizuka had the uncanny ability to know whether or not someone did as she asked. Riya had learned that the hard way first time around and would never make that mistake again.

Following the older Lieutenant's gaze, Riya furrowed her eyebrows slightly at the sight of her brother. She had only freed herself from his incessant chattering awhile ago and now here they were again. The fates were against her, it seemed. "Devil indeed," she echoed with only the slightest of annoyance, which no doubt Anna would be able to pick up. But Riya didn't really care, she was acquainted with the older woman enough to feel comfortable showing her more sarcastic nature.

To run or not to run, was the question. Riya actually considered leaving the package with the other Lieutenant and running off before Damien could reach them... but that was rude. And she had been taught manners, unfortunately. Ignoring her brother for the moment, she turned back to Anna.

"Actually, I think there's something in here for you too," she motioned to the box tucked under her arm. Shizuka was quite fond of Anna, from what Riya could gather, and always sent a little something for the Lieutenant with every package for Damien. But that wasn't exactly a good thing since Shizuka had a very implicative nature and usually sent along baby-related items.

Quietly listening into the exchange between the two Lieutenants and then the two Alphas, Stardust suddenly felt out of place (and a little lonely). Her ears fell back slightly at Feral's approach, and she vaguely admired the closeness the leading pair held. For a brief moment, she wondered if she would be that close to her future mate, whoever that may be...

Feral continued towards the group at a leisurely pace with his head lowered and back arched as though half-stalking towards them. He instantly pulled back his lips and bared is fangs in a wicked grin as the familiar voice of Nightmare crawled through his mind. That sounds utterly appealing, love, he snarled back with amusement laced through his words, only if you promise to let me come out with all limbs attached. When he was within a good distance, his red eyes glanced over each individual quietly before lowering himself slightly to allow Damien's dismount.

The man eagerly jumped down from Feral's back when the wolf stopped partly from eagerness to greet the two women and partly from eagerness to not be on the wolf's back when the darn beast interacted with the two other alphas. Then again, it was always best not to be on the male wolf when he came up to any wolf…

"Riya! What a loveable surprise! Miss me too much?" Damien called out instantly to his beloved sister who he had not seen for a whole several days. It was near torture that kind-hearted brothers such as him should not have to endure! He paused in his approach as something caught his eye. "Another package from Shizuka?" Damien recognized the boxes instantly and with some dread. Who knew what madness lied under those innocent wrappings?! The man stood looking at Riya quietly for a moment as though debating on whether or not he should.

Damien's attention was directed towards Anna who was currently… resting on a tombstone. "Ann, I don't think…" He paused to read the inscriptions on the stone, "…John Re appreciates you sitting on his tombstone." Despite his comment, Damien did not seem that concerned. Instead, he, without much warning, proceeded to scoop Riya up in a bone-crushing hug.

Feral eyed the human's interaction with little interest. Instead, he proceeded towards his mate. He paused in mid-stride and glanced at Stardust as though trying to decide whether or not it would be necessary to assert his dominance over the younger alpha. Decided it would not be worth the effort, he merely offered the wolf a short greeting, Greetings, Stardust.

He returned his attention towards Nightmare and offered the female an affectionate growl. What have you been up to Nightmare? He reached out with bared fangs to give the female alpha a strong n** on her neck between his low growls.

No guarantees, Nightmare answered her mate in a menacing but playful tone. The dark she-wolf nudged the raven skull back to its original position on her forehead, revealing a set of ghost-white eyes as she glanced over to Stardust at her suggestion. That sounds like a splendid idea~ she grumbled in wicked amusement, her voice now open to whoever was in range to hear her imminent thoughts. You should never be afraid to try malicious new methods, dear. Right Feral~?

Annabel's features lightened in amusement at Riya's reaction towards Damien, but she said nothing. The siblings' love-hate relationship was entertaining, really. She stole a glance down at the box tucked under the younger Lieutenant's arm. "Moi aussi?" she asked curiously as she speculated the contents of the box. It was not uncommon for Shizuka to send her a small gift every now and then whenever a package was brought over for the New Eve Captain. Anna always kept the gifts from Shizuka no matter how odd they may have been. She believed that discarding a gift, no matter how strange or out of context (just so long as it wasn't insulting), would appear rude... and everyone knew how Annabel felt about rude people...
"That Madame Shizuka, always so thoughtful." she murmured pleasantly before the voice of a certain higher-ranking officer caught her attention.

"Nice to see you too, Captain." Anna responded teasingly before blinking down at the tombstone as though she hadn't realized it was there before. "I'm sure it won't make him any less comfortable than he is now." she mused with an unidentified suggestive hint behind her tone. "Besides, a Census Taker named John once tried to test me and..." The woman paused as she realized she was rambling. She looked over to where Damien was pulling Riya into a tight embrace and smiled thoughtfully to herself as it seem she was missing out on another one of those brotherly-sisterly love moments. She never knew what is was like to have a sibling and probably would never know, not that the fact ever truly bothered her. She supposed having an adopted brother or sister was no different than having a biological sibling though.

Nightmare caught Annabel gazing at the Captain and she let her ears fall back with bored interest. What are you thinking, Anna-banana?

I'd rather you not call me that, she stated, already harnessing an extreme distaste for the new nick-name. And I wasn't thinking of anything, just contemplating.

Nightmare mentally smirked at her rider's inner irritation towards the nickname, but gave no heed that she heard the girl's request. Ooooh, that's not what your daydreaming says~ You have guilty written aaaall over you conscious. the wolf hissed. Annabel's thoughts were difficult to trace since the girl knew how to conceal them so well. However, when her mind was drifting freely, almost anyone could read her like a book. Nightmare perked up triumphantly as she was ignored by her rider, knowing very well that she had won the mental argument.

Eyes narrowing in a rascally manner, Nightmare gave a frisky growl in return as the larger Alpha approached. You make it seem as though I've been up to no good~ she chortled darkly. I've only been patronizing the gammas, more so if they've already dealt with you for the day. It's quite irksome, trying to strike some fear into these pups while being compared to your standards. she teased. The dark wolf rubbed her muzzle against Feral's flank affectionately before giving his ear a sharp, possessive tug as he leaned over her. Mine.

Stardust watched Feral's approach cautiously, pulling her ears back so he didn't misconstrue her posture as one for dominance. He seemed to be in a foul mood and she wasn't keen on starting any fights with the older Alpha - she believed in not starting any confrontations unless unnecessary (which usually only involved her forcing lower ranking wolves to submit. But she offered him a pleasant, Good afternoon before returning to watch the humans quietly, not wanting to intrude on the pair's ...loving intereaction.

Riya had glanced at Anna blankly at her comment, showing no traces of any emotion other than nonchalance on her features. But in her mind, she was thoroughly confused by what the older Lieutenant said (which happened most of the time, really). Riya knew that the other woman spoke a different language, which was now lost to their civilization, but she never cared to learn the meaning of the words and phrases Anna used. So she simply looked at the New Eve Lieutenant with a 'whatever you say' look.

But thoughtful was an understatement when describing Shizuka's actions, for that woman overthought everything, to the point of seeing things that weren't there. For example, her attempts to show Riya pictures of what her children would like should she... marry certain males in the Patrol. Unfortunately, none of them came out very pretty, which could explain why Riya avoided most of the men in her Fort. "A little too thoughtful," she murmured in response, a small shudder coursing up her spine at the mentally-scarring memories.

Casting a wary glance at Damien as he approached them, Riya allowed a frown to cross her normally pleasant features at his suggestion. "Yes, brother dearest, I couldn't survive another day without seeing your charming face," she responded sarcastically with a roll of the eyes.

Shouldn't have said that, Stardust commented in a sing-song voice.

That made Riya pause for a second as she considered the fact that her sarcasm would probably be lost on Damien's ignorant mind where his baby sister couldn't possibly say anything to mean to him. But she relaxed when he looked over at Anna and her choice of seating, and she too read the inscriptions on the tombstone. However, as a result, she failed to notice Damien's sudden presence beside her until it was too late - she had been caught in the unwelcome (and painful) embrace.

"What the- GET OFF!" Riya flailed within his arms, dropping the package under her arms in the process, which landed on the floor with a sound that resembled shattering glass. This caused her to freeze momentarily as she tried to peer down at the ruins, slightly fearing what Shizuka might say (or do) if she found out. On the other hand, she'd probably spared Damien the horrors of having to taste another one of his mother's recipes - or he'd simply have to eat it with shards of glass now.

"...look what you did," Riya muttered darkly as she glared at her brother, wanting to kick him between the legs. But his grip was too tight and she couldn't reach. Then a thought hit her and she smirked deviously. "Let me go or I'm telling your mother that you dropped her gift."

Damien was grinning like an idiot. I knew she missed me, he beamed proudly to his wolf. Feral, chose to ignore the currently mentally impaired human of his because to answer would to be encouraging bad behavior. The captain also seemed more or less unaware of Riya's struggles and screaming; instead, he tightened his hold on his furious sister and started swinging her from side to side. Suddenly, the man froze when hearing the contents of the package shatter into, probably, a million tiny pieces. He mentally cheered that whatever madness Shizuka made was now officially dead (because you can never be sure… he would swear on Feral's soul that that last pie was still breathing).

Then, his innocent little sister, whom he loves dearly even though she could be so unkind to him, did the unthinkable… she brought his mother into the conversation. Instantly, Damien's grin dropped and turned into a frown. "I would never," He muttered somewhat childishly as though his favorite toy was being taking away from him. However, a wicked smiled slowly spread across his face as he suddenly lifted the shorter Riya up until her feet were no longer touching the grounds and just as unexpectedly, he dropped her.

While torturing Riya, he had turned his attention to Anna again. "Right... But it's making me uncomfortable seeing you sitting on top of his… tomestone..." He trailed off when realizing how odd that sounded.

Feral's lips were curled back in amusement as the female spoke. Think of it as a challenge, love, he suggested through his sadistic delight. Tormenting his pack in any fashion was always a pleasure. He let out a growled as Nightmare tugged at ear and had half a mind to retaliate; however, he was in a much calmer mood (or as calm as Feral ever gets) and instead yielded to the pressure. His red eyes whirled and locked onto Stardust again. What was that about new methods, Stardust? Is your pack turning out to be as spineless and idiotic as ours?
PostPosted: Fri Jan 23, 2009 4:53 pm

Anna continued to watch the two siblings in amusement until the sharp sound of something breaking caught her attention. She blinked down at the fallen package and tilted her head curiously. "Oh dear, that didn't sound too pleasant..." she murmured before looking down to where Riya was dropped. She contemplating helping the younger woman up, when a statement from Damien adverted her thoughts. She smiled softly as she thought he was merely joking, but her expression fell when she glanced up at his features. "Oh," she whispered, never having seen someone bothered about where she sat. It never really occurred to her that someone might have found it to be disrespectful. "Ahh, pardonez-moi, sir. How terribly inconsiderate of me." she apologized softly, dark eyes lowered. Not wanting to step on the actual grave or risk bumping into one of the Alphas, Anna slipped down the back of the tombstone and stood at a respectful distance from the others.

My, my... such the obedient little puppy today... came Nightmare's jeering voice.

Annabel resisted the urge to give the wolf a small kick in warning, considering that would probably cost her a limb. Instead, she watched the others quietly before turning her attention back to the sky, taking notice of the amount of clouds than there were before.

The dark wolf softly tugged on Feral's ear a couple more times for her own amusement before releasing it and giving it a tentative lick. Nightmare stretched leisurely and pulled herself into a sitting position to be at level with her peers. She looked at the riders boredly before turning her gaze back to the younger Alpha. You know you can always resort to physical measures, my dear. Ripping of an ear or breaking a leg should teach those pups a good lesson. Or you could always take a subtle approach and just threaten them. S'always worked in the past~ she cooed wickedly.

For a moment, Riya thought she had won the battle. Being swung around like a ragdoll was not on her list of fun things to do, especially if it involved a certain (crazy) brother of hers. It still amused her to see his mood change so quickly at the sight of her - and she should really be honored - but it was more annoying than anything. However, she suddenly felt a spike of fear as he gave her the wicked smile that was usually only reserved for when he had some torture in mind for the new apprentices. And then he dropped her.

Too shocked to make any noises, Riya simply gaped up at him in disbelief that Damien would actually drop her! Now she would have a very painful bruise in the morning on her bum and she probably wouldn't be able to sit properly for a few weeks. With a frustrated grunt, she scowled and swiped a leg out with all the force of her anger. Her heeled boots successfully connected with her brother's upper thigh, dangerously close to a certain preciously private part of his body.

Stardust instinctively laid her ears back as both Alphas looked over at her, not out of fear but simply out of respect for her elders. More than yours, more likely. At least the wolves weren't as wary of having a young alpha pair as the humans were of their new leaders - wolves weren't concerned about trivial matters such as age. But an ear flickered at the thought of tearing off another wolf's limb, and she tilted her head in mock consideration. They could use some physical pain as... encouragement, but it would probably take even longer to force them back into shape afterwards.

A pause as a wretched stench reached her nostrils, and Stardust scrunched her nose at the slight but still offending smell. She snorted, trying to get rid of the sour scent of dying acid - which didn't make much sense, but that's the only way she could describe it. What is that?

A sudden sizzling noise caught her attention and Riya swiveled her head towards the package, staring as some sort of bubbling green liquid oozed out. If she hadn't known better, it seemed as if the liquid was eating away at the cardboard and seeping into the ground. Upon further inspection, the parts of the ground it was covering up was starting to sprout strange dark green... things.

Quickly jumping to her feet, Riya ducked behind Damien and peered around his arm at the... green stuff. "Have fun with that one, Damien," she commented as she pointed to the package. Then she looked over at Anna, who was now staring at the sky. "I'm sorry Annabel, but... I don't think your present survived... that."

Riya's well aimed kick was coming dangerously close to a very important part of his body, one many women in the world would be disappointed to have impaired. Instinctively his hands flew out to prevent critical damage. Unfortunately, the kick still managed to connect with his thigh. Damien was absolutely still even after Riya's attention was turned; however, you may be able to hear the grinding of his teeth. Be strong Damien, you've gotten hurt worst then this! Be a man! Think happy thoughts, Damien, happy thoughts…

… like … dead bunnies.

What the—I said HAPPY thoughts!

What? Bunnies are evil! They think they're all cute jumping around in their fluffy goodness…. Bastards. Feral frowned mentally when Damien ignored him. His logic was not flawed! The bunnies of the world lived to taunt them. The only purpose they now have in life is to become his meal.

The two other wolves seemed to carry on the conversation while he was trying to reason with his rider. He did manage to catch on Stardust's comment on the now very pronounced smell that could only be described as a combination of a rioting centipede and bunny fart. He bore his fangs in annoyance. It's been unleashed.

Damien was now staring at the bubbling ooze in horror. There was nothing to describe what had been created in Shizuka's lair. He inched forwards and slowly, painfully carefully nudged to package with his boot. It moved and bubbled madly causing Damien to leap back again. "What on earth is that?! I swear it just bit my shoe!" he blinked slowly when noticing something sizzling on his foot. "Oh s**t!" He cursed while jumping on one foot trying to pull the now deteriorating shoe from his foot. His voice carried an unnaturally high tone and eyes widened in fear. "It's going to eat my foot! Stop it, Riya! SAVE ME!"

Annabel's stray thoughts were adverted with a comment from Riya. She continued to gaze up at the sky for a moment more before the putrid, stale stench of the broken package hit her senses. Deep maroon eyes glinted down at the contents of the box as her brows furrowed with a mix of confusion and curiosity. "Unless that was the gift," she murmured with slight amusement. Madame Shizuka had really outdone herself this time.

Anna carefully edged around the grave and approached the sizzling green mass, pausing only as a high-pitched yelp from Damien caught her by surprise. "I wouldn't touch that with my bare hands if I were you." she advised calmly as she watched the frightened man struggle to yank the deteriorating shoe from his foot. She had been about to help her Captain, but something suddenly darted out from the acidic box. However, it didn't go very far as it quickly made contact with the older Lieutenant's foot. Anna drove the heel of her boot into the elongated form, displeased by the fact that the creature refrained from giving the satisfying crunch from being under the pressure of her shoe. Instead, it slithered under the boot's sole, giving a hiss in protest at the added weight.

Not attempting to lift her foot to see whatever it was that squirmed underneath, Anna glanced up at the siblings inquisitively. "Can't be too sure whether this is Shizuka's doing, or if it were just some freak accident, now can we?" she noted with a soft chuckle.

White orbs narrowed at the disdainful odor of the box's contents. Nightmare, a wolf who found comfort in the scent of rotting corpses of her enemies, was surprised to have smelled something as foul as this. Charming, she growled sarcastically while casting an accusing glare at the disintegrating package.

Glancing boredly up at the terrified man, Nightmare snorted at his pleas for help. Moving towards the Captain, she grasped the heel of his shoe firmly. With a sharp tug, the dark wolf easily tore the shoe from the Captain's foot. Not bothering to see whether the force of her pull had set Damien off-balance, she dropped the shoe before the sizzling liquid could get in her mouth. I don't know which is worse, she scowled, as though attempting to get a bad flavor off of her tongue. The vulgar stench of that retched acid, or his feet. She moved away from the shoe as it hissed softly near her paws before casting a wary glance at the item under her rider's foot.

Riya watched as her very idiotic brother decided to approach the questionable contents of Shizuka's not so charming gift, and further proceeded to stick his shoe into the acidic mess. Good-bye, Damien's foot.

Good-bye.

What happened next had Riya trying to hold in her laughter... for five seconds, at least. Then she start giggling with amusement at Damien's cry for help (which she ignored) and simply stepped out of his way in case he accidentally touched her with the stuff that was now eating through his shoe. Placing her hands on her hips, she clucked her tongue and shook her head disappointedly at her brother. "Should've listened to your Lieutenant there. And honestly, you of all people should know better than to touch Shizuka's creations without... well, you should know to never touch them if you want to keep all limbs intact."

Something suddenly darted out from the green ooze, and Riya screamed (like a girl) as she literally jumped three feet in the air away from the monstrosity. Now the young Lieutenant had faced down her share of centipedes and didn't even flinch at the sight of them, but when it came to Shizuka's 'cooking'...

Dropping all sense of appropriate behavior expected of a ranking officer, Riya quickly scrambled backwards and away from the thing that was now under Anna's foot - she had to say, she was quite impressed by the woman's galls; lthough she wouldn't be surprised if the green blob managed to seep through the boots and climb itself up the New Eve Lieutenant's leg.

But in her sudden surge of fear, Riya failed to notice that Damien was behind her and probably trying to keep his balance, and promptly crashed into him, sending them both tumbling to the ground in a tangled mess.

Stardust perked her ears up as she watched her rider back away from the moving... thing, and then run into Damien. Her head tilted specutively as she considered whether or not to help them up. But after Nightmare's statement, the younger female wasn't sure if she wanted to get up close to the smelly feet. Her nose was already suffering from the sour scent of the... thing. Which one tasted better?

Damien's face paled as Nightmare grabbed onto his boot. This will not end well, he was sure of. The wolf tugged rather forcefully causing both feet to fly out from under him (although, thankfully the boot was, in the process, removed) and the poor man landed on his bad in a sick thump which also succeeded in knocking the air right out of his lungs. The captain groaned in pain. He, despite the hurt, managed to climb to his feet and throw a glare at Nightmare. "My feet do not smell."

Unfortunately for the man, just when he straightened up from his first fall, the little form of Riya came running into his still unbalanced form causing them to fall. More misfortune onto Damien as he became a cushion for Riya's fall which, once again, knocked the wind from his lungs. "Ow." After a moment to catch his breath, the man, once again, started to struggled to get up while trying to help his poor sister up also (actually he helped by pulling/hoisting her to her feet without much warning). He grinned happily towards his sibling. "Running towards your dearest brother for help?"

Feral had remained comfortably motionless throughout the whole episode… included the period of time Damien was being attacked by Shizuka's creation. The dark wolf eyed the now squirming … thing… under Anna's heels. The alpha grinned and licked is lips vaguely wondering if the creation would bleed in he bit it. Finally, the wolf started to move towards Anna and the creation. Unfortunately for Damien, again and not surprisingly, Feral did not see or care that his rider was in his path towards his destination. As a result, he ran right into the captain causing the poor man to be shoved to the side and fall, for the third time, onto his back onto the ground. .. And it gets better! Feral then walked over his rider and stopped right when his back hind leg was pressing on the man's chest. Luckily, Feral realized the man was there. The wolf, out of the purest form of kindness in his heart, shifted some of his weight off that leg to accommodate the man's presence under his paw… which probably didn't help much.

"Feral," Damien wheezed from under the wolf's paw, "You're – on—me… …Ge-t o—f-f!" He managed to get out while hitting the large canine's leg frantically.

The wolf proceeded to ignored the pleas of the insect beneath him and eyed the creature curiously when Anna finally removed her heel from the once squirming thing. Feral stared at for a moment as though pondering something very serious. Suddenly, the male wolf moved forwards (off Damien, thankfully) and … ATE the acidic creature! (O_O)
