I love both these series! But when It comes down to who's on top I have to say jak because the story line is more exciting and new to me. Did you know that Insomniac and Naughty dog work together on some of their game designing styles?
Please coment on which you think is better.

Jak, Jak, JAK! I'm not just saying that because he's a cute guy with long ears...
I agree, the story line is more interesting and it's much more addictive too.

Jak is better... the story line is better and there is more variation. Ratchet and clank has better music and it's got a funnier script

I liked the first Jak, then he became (bum bum BUM) ANGSTY MAN! Features: Yells a lot, has lost his sweet quietness, and scares people.

Ratchet wins in my heart. I just love games that have a sense of humor, and all of Insomniacs series have it. Plus, Ratchet and Clank don't pull the insane personality twists like Jak did (I only like Daxter and the side characters now, because he's just bloody awful). Any personality changes are very gradual and evolve nicely. Ratchet, despite getting some decent military training, always reverts back to his cutely dumb side (ya know, the kind of absent-minded, straight on one goal, forget angela in a cage kinda way XD) and Clank is still the incredibly smart one. Plus, I'm for moods. Jak (for some sad reason, now minus the Dax in the title sad ) has such a grimy, smoggy, depressing, hopeless setting now. I miss the colorful, exotic levels from the first one. R&C has stayed pretty consistant. A mood all its own for every world.

Sorry, I'm omg!passssionatte about the J&D vs. R&C thing. razz Call me -laaame-.

JAK no contest! heart
rachet and clank is ok. but from what ive seen and played it bored me. the characters in the jak and daxter series were easily sexier, better pieced in the devolpment area, and i like the hook ups a lot better. i also like the way they took it along the lines with the fact taht its a lot more realistic in the story line than rachet and clank. i mean were not gonna have long pointy ears or look exactly like them or do what they do. but with the way the elements and the artifacts and vehicles and stuff. i mean its a pure showing to political corruption.
@NecroKat-first, lets pump a dangerous and deadly element through your body for two years and see if you dont get angry and mad. i know i sure would. and also, if the leader of a city was overthrown by an evil, scheming, manipulating ruler and covered in resistance's, underworld crmie organizations, and foreign invaders, and despite all that a big thriving city could stay completely bright and cheerful and acting like it was totally unaware of everything then i would be completely worried!
so on jak and daxter, after the first one it took a turn completely in the right direction.

To Urbie: Yes, yes, but ND didn't have to make them pump a deadly substance through him for two years, now did they? wink I like Ratchet and Clank because the characters are just funnier and personally, I'd make friends with them. I base my love of characters on whether -I'd- have fun being around them. Even if their villians. If I was a villian and could get along with that villian, or just admire them personally, I'm cool with it.

I actually love the side characters of J&D. To death, I swear! But that's because they kept their personalities in line. I didn't have to relearn to love 'em. They still had a classic feel of "Ohh! Yay! Keira!" or "Teehee, Dax is so freaking funny". And even the new characters. I'd sell my soul for a Sig plush. Or even an Erol one. And no one can contest Ash or Tess being cool girlie characters. But they started with those personalities and had very little change. The Jak I grew to love was the sweet, quiet, only slightly annoyed, but still best buds, with the ever talkative, obnoxious Daxter.

But I had to go through the impossible (For ME anyway, everyone is entitled to their opinion) attempt at re-loving Jak's character because, to me, he was someone completely different than who I adored to play as before. While ND does have slightly better Character Development, to me, it seems they just had so many more options they could've used for Jak. I felt really bad, just -sitting- there watching him, even, as he got captured and turned badass sad And how he became so rude and spiteful, even to the people who did him no harm, like moments with Keira (sweet romance, good bye). A family fun, just all around cool game got turned omg!T rated depression-on-disc-package in one sequel. It's kind of the same thing as with the Prince of Persia trilogy. And I know a whole LJ PoP group that says it just wasn't the same after Sands.

To everyone, their own love of charrie development, but this is a opinion poll, no? I just like Ratchet and Clank better, because every game I know I'm going to see the same two heroes I love. In the later J&Ds, I only saw one outta two return.

see thats where i differ. jak kicked huge ******** a** after the first one. he was too much a p***y in the second one. hell even my seven year old cousin agrees with me. i mean the game was fun and quick. but not outstanding utnil jak2 hit.
and from the way you talk i take it you didnt finish jak 2. or didnt get pass jak 3!

ive already beat it. its good and an interesting game. especially with the ideas it gives to the whole cart racing genre. but it has a bad tendancy to be fairly repetetive with the tracks. but it really helps add to tha story line! and i mean REALLY ADDS! wheni heard about i didnt think it would but it did. if your a fan of the series then pick it up.

Way cool dude with a cool orange ottsel or other way cool dude that I don't even know what he is? Honestly I've never really been able to pick up the Rachet and Clank series. I'm a Jak man all the way.

I'm stuck on Jak, but the first one was crap and easy. R&C, I got the... 3rd one? Too short.
