A trembling sound pulsed through entire palace, heralding in the event of the decade. Gabriela, the newly appointed mistress of water, was to take her rightful place as queen over the entire kingdom very shortly.
After days of preparation, the throne room was highly decorated and bright, the curtains completely pulled up to allow the sun's own enjoyment of the ceremony. Ancient tapestries were hung on the ceiling along with various crests that distinguished the water kingdom from all others. No cost was too expensive or no possible design overlooked. Everything just had to be perfect.
No only minutes from Gabriela's entrance, multitudes were crammed into the hallway, joyous faces masking any emotions the civilian or guard may feel towards the new queen or the old king's departure. The current apprentices waited patiently at the end of the hall, hovering near the throne itself and the priest who was holding the crown to be passed.
Just as planned, everything seemed perfect, except one thing. Euan, the still-current king remained hidden in terms of his location. Despite frantic searches throughout the stone rooms, and even the secret chambers, no one could find the most powerful man in the entire nation. So in an attempt to hide this obvious disorder, the priest was a last-minute addition to the crowning party. Euan was supposed to be the one who passed down the crown but clearly that wasn't possible.
The trumpets decorating the blue and gold rug leading from the only entrance to the throne blared forth once more. It was now even closer to the ceremony from taking place. The third and last blast of noise would usher in the soon-to-be queen.

Mikiela felt akward standing in the Water Throne Room, but she felt excited to be party in her friend's coronation. She held back tears as she thought of the trouble they had gotten into earlier, past fights and misunderstandings. Now, when we fight, repercussions will be greater and risks will be higher. She was slightly put off the fact that Gabi was now a powerful figure. All the better for you, Gabs. I don't have the patience to deal with useless chatter and meaningless idiots bumbling in my ears. She smoothed her dress and stood waiting for the ceremony to begin.

How dare she! How dare she send that ridiculous piece of dead tree to her door, flaunting her so-called "greatness" in her face! Laura gritted her teeth, tightening her gloved fists while crunching the eloquently embroidered invitation. Oh, she definitely remembered the sheer audacity when she opened the gaudy gold envelope.
"You have been cordially invited to the crowning of Gabriela whatserface as Water Mistress. Blahblahblahblah. Time, date, location. Wear a damn dress."
And of course, in possibly the curliest blue letters possible; so curly it almost looked like a 5-year-olds scribble:
"P.S. - IN YO' FACE, SUCKA'!! ~ Gabriela ♥"
The absolute NERVE of that girl! The thunder apprentice winced at the sound of the obnoxious trumpets blaring throughout the whole palace and she sighed heavily. She even had to get in a friggin' DRESS for this. Laura's eyes skimmed over her outfit, brushing off a small piece of thread from her black garment and blew a piece of hair from her eyes. This MUST be a nightmare. She wondered if slapping her self as hard as possible would wake her up, but...if it wasn't, every body making the throne room so claustrophobic would probably change the thunder elementals' stereotype from "speed kids" to "insane speed freaks." Now the only thing left to do was wait...

» How wonderful! A queen is about to be appointed. Cove stood next to the priest who carried the crown, with the other apprentices standing in a line a few strides away from him. He was dressed in his fanciest garments: blue robes embroidered with silver lace that covered his polished royal armor. Dark blue metal plates, also containing silver-covered crests shone brilliantly as though light was being emitted from it. Nothing less was acceptable for such a ceremony: the coronation of his dear friend Gabriela. A very important day for the water nation it was! The king, Euan, was abdicating from the throne and passing it on to the new water mistress.
Although Cove was slightly annoyed that this could enable Gabriela to flaunt her status in his face -which, she probably would do after the ceremony- he honored the fact that she had proven her skill and expertise in the water elemental arts. Standing proudly a few meters from the throne, the water apprentice waited for the ceremony to commence.
However, something was out of place. Yes, the decorations were simply gorgeous, and yes, the guards, apprentices, and spectators were in their finest attire, but something poked at the edge of Cove's mind. He just could not put his finger on this fleeting thought. Hm ... The priest and crown are present. The guards are in place, in case an attack occurred. Of course, that is unlikely. Seriously, Euan shoul- Cove's head jerked to the side quickly, as he realized what the issue was: Euan, the former king who was supposed to pass down the crown, was not in the grand room. As his eyelids lowered, a small smirk appeared on Cove's face. His master was always the one to be unpredictable. Oh, this was going to infuriate Gabriela, no doubt. But perhaps that was Euan's intent. Who knows. We can only wait.
A half-sigh half-chuckle escaped his lips as the water apprentice raised a hand to scratch the back of his head. Taking another glance around the lovely throne room, Cove noted the appearance of a fire and thunder apprentice. Both of which he had little experience with. Most likely Gabriela's friends. She does tend to be very ... approachable. For some reason, an image of Ash ran through his mind. Strange.

Raven smiled faintly, her slender arms crossed. She remained half-hidden by a pillar, onlooking from afar as she watched her former apprentice-rival become the newly appointed Queen. That same faint smile formed into a crooked grin, as she recalled the pains she went through just to dress for the occasion: dresses weren't her forte, but even so, she knew such a grand occasion called for such--and for Gabby, no less.
The arms unfurled, and for the fifth time she smoothed over the teal and silver-embroidered gown she wore, ensuring herself that she was not too particularly out of place. Tiny shells from the Ocean she had secretly collected before visitng Gabriela to begin practicing were intricately woven into her hair. Crowds were not her scene; the Elementalist was not as social as some of the others. She reached up, tucking a loose strand of ebony hair behind her ear, peering around the pillar at the many faces around her. Truly it was an inspiring scene, and she was more proud of Gabriela than perhaps even Gabriela herself knew. The woman had a temper, but she was a fun one to spar with. Raven hoped she would learn great things from her new Water Mistress. "Quite a fancy show you've got here, Master Euan..." She muttered quietly to herself, the emerald optics keen on the decorative tapestries that hung, displaying all the Water Kingdom's glory, the very thing which brought her here.
Her attention snapped back to the main event, even as the trumpets began to blast. Raven rearraged the features of her visage, knowing her crooked grin was hardly appropriate at such a time. Instead, she looked onward, a cross of curiousity and revered respect.

How it pours, pours, pours, In a never-ending sheet! How it drives beneath the doors! How it soaks the passer's feet! How it rattles on the shutter! How it rumples up the lawn! How 'twill sigh, and moan, and mutter, From darkness until dawn.

The trumpets echoed through the hallway, meeting a young woman's ears. Her dark blue orb were fixed straight ahead, her mind concentrated on not tripping over the elaborate folds and ornaments that her dress held. The long pearl white and ocean blue dress had a large tail flowing behind it, a low neck exposing her shoulders, and had very extravagant sleeves. It was sown and folded in such a way that the sparkling of the decor and the cloth made it seem as though it were the very sea swimming gaily at her feet.
A third trumpet rang, and butterflies filled the woman's stomach. Her hands fidgeted with her sky blue hair, which was strung up in a high bun with curls falling from it. Her neck, and the bit of her back and shoulders that was exposed gleamed in the light.
"Are you ready, Madame?" One of the guards in front of her asked in a fluid accent. "They have summoned us inside." Her head swam and the man's lavish outfit suddenly came in and out of focus.
"As ready as i will ever be..." The guards surrounding her gave Gabriela a reassuring smile and the two at the front opened the large double doors they had arrived at. With a deep breath, she maneuvered herself and the enormous dress into the brightly lit and amazingly decorated hall.
Her skin flushed red at the sight that met her eyes, which were now staring down. She could have bet anything that everyone she had ever met, and even some she never had, was in this spacious room. Her heart filled with warmth at her friend's faces, at the very end of the hall, where the throne sat.
Gabriela's stomach did another flip and she began walking towards the place where the priest stood, counting the people in the room with her mind... most importantly the ones that stood where she was going. Wasn't there one missing...?

Slailie stood next to Cove watching everyone around the room. The amount of decorations in the room made it hard to focus on only one thing; there was so much to look at. Even everyone's attire was extravagant. She herself did her best to dress well, it was Gabriela's coronation. She glanced down at herself, she was wearing a dark blue dress embroidered with silver. Ironic... all the apprentices are wearing blue and silver.. She glanced around the room again, starting to fidget with the blue gloved she was wearing.
Slailie silently took a count of all the people she knew in the room.. There were the two other apprentices.. But isn't Euan suppose to crown Gabriela?.. She quickly glanced past Cove, there was only the priest there with the crown. Where is Euan? The trumpets started barring, and Slailie's head looked forward, looking at the door Gabriela would be coming through.

Gabriela made it to the very front of the room, and stood before the priest. She curtsied and then raised her head high. The priest's speech became jumbled in her mind as she recalled her journey to this monumental time in her life. All of the hardships while harnessing her element, and the realization that there was still so much to learn. A small fear trickled into her thoughts, she vehemently tried to ignore it, but it kept resurfacing... She might never surpass her teacher in skills or even experience. Doubts filled her mind and she felt the weight of the responsibilities to come when the crown was placed on her head.
A deafening roar of applause erupted within the large hall and she forced a smile upon her features, turning to the crowd and then sitting upon the throne. When the applause died down, she tried to speak but found her voice choked with emotions. A small wave from her hand signaled the orchestra to begin to play their instruments and she sighed as everyone began dancing. She stood up and turned to her friends. "So, who else bet the day wouldn't come?" She asked with a nervous smirk.

Mikiela snorted and folded her arms. "Who would have bet against you? From day one you were a power-hungry little demon. But I love you for it. Good luck with politics, and don't get lost in marshes." She smirked. While other people would bristle at her tone and words, it was carefully calculated sarcasm so as to provide Gabi with enough amusement to make her giggle, she hoped.

Gabriela couldn't help but snort and almost trip on her own dress. "You noticed i was 'power hungry'? Shoot. I thought i was a good actress!" She giggled and hugged her friend from the completely opposite element. Everyone in the crowd either stared at the exchange, amazed at it, or smiled warmly at the prospect of peace between the tense nations.
"Anyways, Miki, there's a whole bar of food waiting for you to devour it..." she told her friend with a huge smirk. Thanks to the small joke and the fire apprentice's incessant eating, Gabriela was cheery and not that nervous anymore.

Raven heaved a sigh of relief that Gabriela had not lost her humor in the midst of being nervous, her hands exhausted from the endless clapping that had filled the room. A faint smile relit her face, and she maneuvered her way through the throngs of people who had come to observe the spectacle. In truth, she wished she could enjoy the quiet calm of the beach, and train there. There was a long journey ahead of her in honing her skills as a Water Apprentice. Still, she knew it were fitting to exchange a few words before making her escape.
"There's a few bets I need to collect on later. You're making me rich, Gabby," Raven paused, gathering the skirts of her dress, and she executed an orchaestrated bow. Her keen gaze was alight with mischief as she smiled, her voice only slightly hinted with sarcasm as she spoke slowly, her voice an overly sweet cadence of respect, "Your Majesty," she regained her composure, her smile genuine then as she gestured to the crowd, "Congratulations, lovey. You looked marvelous out there. I had intended to do something unexpected and ease your mind with a few mental words of calming. But I figured you'd freak out over hearing a voice in your head, trip, face plant, the works. And uh--I'd prefer we keep the mental abilites I have between us; people don't take kindly to it. I'll hopefully be attending an Academy on the side of training here to gain control of said abilities." She winked, her smile returning to that same crooked grin from earlier.

Gabriela rolled her eyes at raven when she called her 'Majesty'. "Dont worry, you little psycho, your secret is safe with me." She smiled widely and looked around. A ball continued, even in her absence...
"You, Me, northern beaches later tonight?" Gabriela planned a small distraction so that she and raven could escape. "They can continue the party by themselves." With a deliberate wink, the newly appointed mistress gave her friend some instructions on where to meet her when, just to give gabriela some time to get out of the darned dress.
Her face was lit with mischief and her lips couldn't help but inch up into a wide smile. "Ok?"

Mikiela's face lit up by the word food. "You have food? You know me too well. Oh, of course there'd be food. You knew I'd be coming, so you probably stocked your whole room with treats for my soon-to-be frequent trips here. Now that you're in charge, gods help us all, I'm probably gonna be a liaison, which means I will need to be dressed and primped and mannered. But there's food!" She shrieked the last sentence and flounced off to the long, flowing tables of delectable food. At this moment, she wouldn't care if a war broke out, now that she had food on her hands.

Raven smiled, backing away, "I'll be around." She dipped into another mocking curtsey, before disappearing into the crowd. She had overstayed her welcome, and was more than grateful to escape the celebration. She wove her way through the hundreds of unfamiliar faces, and only a few that were familiar to her.
She politely spoke her excuses, greeting a few people with smiles, and others with quick hugs, before finally breeching the outskirt of the mob and disappearing outside. She glanced over her shoulder once once, laughing quietly before continuing on her way. It was more than time to change and find time for a little more solitude. The more time she spent louging and celebrating--even with the special consideration of Gabriela, the less time she had to hone her skills, and the less time she had to return home to protect her family and friends before ORDER attacked.
