Well, they have gotten ahold of the newspaper in my county area. I'm not going to reprint the article on this page but here is the general gist of the page.

It states the Roe v. Wade date and then claims that 50 million babies have been murdered. The blurb is in the middle and includes contact information to join the county area Right to Life group. Followed by the website www.knowledgeisempowering.com, saying to look at this website before getting an abortion. Above the words is a premature baby being help by someone's arm. Not sure if it is still alive or not.

Around the rest of the page in about 8point or smaller font are the names of the members.

As far as I am concerned, I don't think this page should be in a public newspaper. Not only does it show the newspaper takes their side, but also disrespects the opinions of others who do have opposing views. Then again, I live in a state that recieved an F from NARAL, so they're probably not losing many readers from the area.

Do you think political messages should have any place in a newspaper that is for general news? (this news paper is the newspaper for the tri-county area, not a political magazine or club newsletter).

EDIT: These sort of beliefs and comments belong in the Voice from the Public or Editorial section. Not a full page dedication.

The front page has an ambiguos message of resources to help make your decision. It only lists anti-choice links such as ones for Post Abortion Syndrome and the only article that lists abortion techniques lists all the falsified consequences such as the breast cancer risk. Even spiritual consequences.

Write a letter to the editor. If they're going to present one side, there has to be someone to present the other.

Because unless there's actual news involved, no, it shouldn't be there. If it's an ad, it shouldn't take up a whole page. In other words, I agree with your edit.

It's been proven by the American Cancer Society that abortions and breast cancer are not connected in any way:

American Cancer Society.

This anti choice list...it's only listing the reasons why a woman should not get an abortion because of guilt, torment and possible spiritual and mental consequnces, right?

None of those things are a 100% guarantee for every woman out there.

If a newspaper is going to present the side of a prolifer, then yes, there should be article, or a column that presents the other side.

But just like Nayva said, unless there's actual news involved, it should not be there. If it's an ad, then it should only be a small section, not a whole page.

It's not an ad, at the top of the page IT HAS to say ADVERTISEMENT. The only ads that are allowed to take full pages in our newspapers are automobile dealers, even then they are in a section of the paper dedicated to advertisements and such.

There have been multiple pieces in the "Voice of the Readers" section dedicated to anti-choice propoganda and even others demonizing homosexuals that go to church. It saddens me that a newspaper can't even keep away from touchy subjects to ensure a wider readership.

50 million? Thank god for abortion then. Imagine the state of the country with another 50 million people, possibly jobless, possibly mooching, possibly struggling to survive, getting shot at, needing houses and food sweatdrop
